The location is very good. The hotel is situated near various neighborhoods of interest. There are many subway stations nearby as well. The room seemed to be well used. Although the television and linen appeared to be relatively new, the rest of the room was worn down. Wooden headboards were chipped. The desk chair and chest of drawers were both losing paint from apparent use.
Located in a fun and interesting neighborhood, clean room and friendly reception. Walls a little thin - didn't notice other rooms but could hear the outside pretty well.
Clean, comfortable, friendly hotel in an excellent location No hot water the first day but OK after that.
I was very pleased with the TV!! and it has many programs in TV. There was not an opner in my room. But,I can borrow the opner in the front desk , so, it's no problem!
It is a simple hotel. The location is fine: just around the corner of Littel Italy and China Town. I asked for two separate beds, but they forgot that. So we had to change rooms and got the separate beds after two nights in a single bed(kingsize)
Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was well equipped but could have been cleaner. Near subway. Not luxury but fine for a few nights. Chinatown offered a different feel for the city than I've had in other, more commercial areas. Not for everyone but I liked it fine. Housekeeping wad lacking, it was clean but found things left behind, no washcloths left either morning. Little stuff but annoying.
Great neighbourhood, a window that can de opened, nice personnel, all very comfortable. New York is expensive, so I found this hotel expensive as well for what you get.
The hotel location is walking distance to Little Italy and China Town. The price you pay versus the quality you get is shocking, but this is NYC where prices are high. It felt extremely budget.
Excellent choice if you are lloking for location, cordiality, low rate. Rooms are clean: towels are changed daily, bed sheets and pilows smells very clean. Location is fantastic if you like Soho and Chinatown. Subway (d and b lines) 3 minutes from hotel door. The sorroundings are safe as there are always people walking around. But it is very quiet, except for when the people come out from the nght club located on the side street.
The staff was just great day and night..they knew the area and were able to able to offer help.......the room was spacious and very nice..close to little italy, chinatown and the vilage..we walked everywhere and felt safe..just loved the staff!!!!!!!! Gabe and "harry' watched over us (group of mature-aged women) like they were our guardian angels No--it really went beyond expectations
Everything about this hotel was just great. Location, cleanliness, value, rooms, etc; but one of the best things was the staff. They were really nice and tried to help anyway possible. The hotel has a terrific location at walking distance of many interesting places in NY, We stayed a whole week there and felt the price was right for the services and facilities received. No complaints at all, everything was great! Highly recommended.
I liked the fell of the room. It was unlike the average hotel room. It felt more like a little apartment. the only the I didn't like was that we had trouble with our key card. Somehow, it was deactivated a couple of times. No biggie.
friendly staff location
It was more space for the money than we could find anywhere else. The location was near many things in the downtown area, I was able to shorten our stay by two days without a problem, it was nice to have the kitchen, the bathroom was big, we got fresh towels every day, the air conditioner worked well, there was plenty of light, wifi in the room The TV reception was awful, the rollaway bed had to go in the kitchen and we couldn't use the bed frame, it was too unstable, we put the mattress on the floor, there were very few in utensils, etc in the kitchen, but it was just enough.
The staff was pleasant. There was only a window ac unit and the pull out was incredibly small. The whole "suite" wasn't really a suite at all it was soooo small and they didn't even have a coffee maker.
This hotel doesn't prented to be what it's not. When we got there, we got exactly what we expected. It's the cheapest I have paid in manhattan but cleaner and cheaper than other hotels I've been to in NYC. It's 2 blocks from soho. At first the area could seem weird but we never felt unsafe and soho is rignt there with all the boutiques and restaurants. Plus, there's a really nice supermarket close by and the room has a kitchinette. Very very practical for people on a budget. But don't expect luxury.
Staff were disinterested and unhelpful. The hotel was very shabby, run down and I will never stay there again and definately not recommend.Very poor value
The location to Soho, the staff, & the overall experience of staying in the nieghbourhood The air conditioning unit nearly drove me nuts, it was too noisy & barely worked
Nothing really. It became just a place to sleep a few hours per night during ours stay in ny. The airconditioning system did not work.it was a self catering suite, no kitchen cleaning products were available, no dishcloths either and only 4 drinking tumblers.
Location - close to Nyu where my son goes to school The reservation I made through booking.com wasn't in their system. Luckily they had a room.
great location. nice room.
The Staff was super nice and helpfull For 2 queens bed the room was really small didn't got enought space to open our lugagges!!! 1 of the bed wasn't clean.
Very clean room.
The front of house staff were always friendly and helpful especially Anthony. Our room was petite but clean and comfortable. The hotel location was a little noisy but in a fantastic area otherwise. Had a great stay. Just the bit of street noise really.
helpfulness of staff, view from room
The location was very convenient. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that one day housekeeping had not cleaned our room by 4:30 when we came back to our room to rest. I thought it should have been clean by then. Not a big deal. I definitely plan on staying there in the future.
Location, friendly staff. Room size.
The location was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. My room was cleaned every day and the bed aws very comfortable
My 5th floor room overlooked the park between Forsyth and Chrystie, with a long-distance glimpse of 1 WTC over the rooftops. Great location for my visit, a evening show at New York Theater Workshop, and for general walkabout adventures in the Lower East Side. Super helpful and friendly staff, too. I felt like I was in a low-end IKEA showroom model studio apartment. That's not a bad thing, since the small floor plan requires some strict space usage, but a comfy chair would have been nice!
Location of hotel and comfort of bed Little room to walk around, could have been a little larger
Very good value and clean. All was good.
Good location and interesting room design plus cool shower & free NY Times. Lack of replacement shampoo each day; noise Sat night on 7th floor.
From the decor of the hotel, to the hot staff, to the art deco rooms, it was a great stay. I will definitely make this my new nyc hotel.
It was an amazing room, with an amazing bathroom. Nice bed, lots of tv channels. We were taken good care off. If we needed anything they could get it. Elevators were slow.
The hotel staff did a great job at catering to our every need. They were prompt and never seemed annoyed with our many specific requests. The room was clean, comfortable, and the rain shower was amazing. I have nothing but good things to say about my stay. I would recommend the Thompson LES to anyone traveling to New York. No complaints. Perhaps the area wouldn't be ideal for people visiting NYC for the first time, as it's a more local/less touristy area. Having said that, it is only a $10 cab ride away from Time Square, or a short trip on the subway to anywhere in Manhattan.
Location. Design. Chic. Friendly c One loud night, Halloween weekend.
Not at all, Room 705 was noisy. Poor service was provided.
the staff was great at suggesting places to go and places to dine. The room was clean and contemporary in style not a lot of space to put luggage, if you want to live out of it. Its best to just unpack and use the closet space
I was treated very well by hotel staff. There was a room upgrade available and it was given to me without asking. It's a short walk away from SoHo shops and the subway is across the street. I did not enjoy the on site restaurant (Shang Restaurant). It's was empty for the most part of the weekend and the service was a bit poor...which is odd because there were no customers.
Staff were friendly and the room was large and comortable. Couldn't fault it.
very pleasant staff- helpful with directions, charge my phone etc
The design of the hotel and the location The service was extremely poor. The concierge was not very helpful. The rooms would not be cleaned unless requested and after several complaints. The coffee was brought cold. Walked into our room bathroom at 5pm to find the housekeeping bucket and mops in the middle of the bathroom. The bellman placed our shopping bags in a wrong room without so much as an apology.
Good price Tiniest thing I've ever seen. Can't turn lights off. Loud. Adjacent to loud train.
Fantastic location in the Lower Eastside as it was situated within easy walkung distance of good bars and resturants. The room was comfortable and a good size.
It was convenient to what we were doing in New York on the lower East Sise. The lobby area was cold and not conducive to relaxing.
This hotel is everything that the description says - lovely, characterful building, comfortable bed, great shower (and a bathtub) and I was so grateful for the aircon! Many hotels turn it off when you go out and you return to a nasty hot room - not the case here! I had one of the smaller rooms, but it was still huge, and beautifully furnished. Good to have real coffee in the room too. I also loved the neighbourhood, close to Little Italy, Chinatown and the Lower East Side, there are lots of interesting things to see and do (and eat!) and it felt very safe. It was a pleasure to stay here. China for breakfast would be nice. Paper cups and plastic plates somehow didn't fit - not very environmentally friendly either. I didn't spot the juice and fresh milk for three days - maybe the breakfast area could be arranged better, or maybe I'm just not very observant!
This cozy hotel was awesome--location, kind & helpful staff, etc. Was lucky to get a room with large outside terrace..perfect for a night of summer rain. Romantic!
Liked the atmosphere of the hotel.. artistic yet cosy? not in particular... location is a bit off from Midtown, but then again that was the reason for choosing this hotel in the first place, as we needed to get on a bus in Chinatown early next morning. Which was convenient as it was a walking distance away.
Staff, situation in NY Poor breakfast, no working internet
Boutique atmosphere, interesting art ... convenient in the area, low key. I would return. Breakfast was light on items but I'm not a big breakfast person .
the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was good for my purposes.
friendly staff breakfast
staff gave excellent recommendations for activities/meals
We liked Blue Moon's location in a fascinating neighborhood, our spacious and comfortable room, and the historic and lovingly renovated building. Helpful staff gave us a warm welcome. This is a high-end boutique hotel at reasonable rate - a true find!
comfort of bed the area around the hotel is very dirty (NYC needs to clean its sidewalks and gutters)
New hotel with small rooms, location is excellent. Would recommend hotel. Rooms are small. Would be difficult with suitcases.
Amazing quality at lovely hotel in the best area of New York! My boyfriend and I spent two nights at this hotel for Veteran's Day 2010. From the start, the reception staff was extremely polite, courteous and friendly. Because our requested room was not available, we were kindly upgraded to a king room for one night without extra charges. We stayed on the 9th and 7th floors and on both nights we enjoyed comfy, immaculate rooms and quiet views of the city- despite being in a very lively area with many nightlife hot spots. We were also made extremely happy by the iPod dock, coffee maker in the room, and free breakfast. You won't find any better quality in New York! Would definitely come back! I wish our stay was longer.
location (lots of restaurant, bars and caffes; very close to subway F), price, hotel staff; at night, it might be a bit noisy during week-ends.
great location, comfortable bed overpriced, noisy--rooms entry is right next to the elevators.
nothing. the person on the phone was super rude. it was late and obviously they could give to shits that it's raining and it's 11pm and you've double booked me. im sure this place in nice but c'mon. you don't double book and make it seem like it's the customer's fault. and then don't help them book another hotel or motel or whatever. god knows if i even got my money back. don't really care. thanks guys.
Clean, friendly staff and based in a good location
Privacy and friendliness of staff
The location I'm no picky guy, but it's definitely an experience to sleep in a room that is 21 square feet ( 6' by 3.5' ). It's always a question of the 'bang for the buck', and I'd rather pay $90 on groupon for 100+ square feet with my own space rather than $50 for 21 square feet.
Nothing. I didnt like waking up with 25+ bed bug bites all over my body. Nor did i like throwing my clothing out due to the fact. As soon as i walked through the door i was offered to buy drugs in the hallway. The upstairs which i thought was a aingle room is back to back closets with a wooden plank and a dirty bug ridden mattress.
Absolutely nothing room was violation of building code, genuine hovel See above terrible filthy room. No ceiling could see light from hall at all times. Room was really a windowless cubicle could hear noise from management all night. So much black mold it was scary. Not a hotel, scary place
Nothing Everything, this place is disgusting, room was literally a closet right outside of front desk, it was so tiny, and stuffy, no windows, and we were subjected to the front desk guy yelling in chinese ALL night, bed is a piece of foam, shared bathroom. AWFUL!!!! Never seen something so terrible, every hostel has been nicer AND cheaper!!! It cost me $80 USD for this hell hole!! Slept fully clothed because it was so gross.
Nothing Bedbugs were everywhere. The sheets and pillow had died bedbug stains from where I guess people killed them. The clientele where loud and vulgar and since the ceiling is open you hear everything. Heard drug deals, somebody threatening to kill his woman and her new boyfriend, etc...
Great look, great location. Clean, modern rooms. Perfect for me Last night of my stay, my floor (9th) turned very noisy. Not just in rooms but up and down the hall. Younger crowd yelling to each other, etc. Felt like I was trying to sleep in the middle of a frat party! This was between 1-2am and went on for quite some time. It would have hoped someone would ask them quiet down on room levels.
Location was great with a lot of varied night-life options. Terrace bar and pool is something to check out for sure. A/C worked well but was very loud especially with something loose inside that made a clunking noise constantly while the A/C ran. I called down after the first night to see if could be addressed. Engineering was sent while we were out but the problem wasn't fixed. We got in too late to deal with the second so had to try prob a chair against it to dampen the noise :(
