An all-around great place to stay when in Deauville!
everything was perfect, service, restaurants nothing found
The spacious accomodation, especially the well apppinted bathroom Menu choice for evening meal was limited if not dining in the Etrier
The atmosphere of the bigginings of the 20th century Everything was perfect
Very good staff with a friendly and not at all stuffy approach. Excellent concierge staff (large gentleman with moustache been with the hotel for 16 years) who parked my Bristol with the care it deserves and aranged for a valet! Good location within easy walking distance of the beach and the many restaurants in the town. Nice lounge area for a drink before dinner. Good spa which gave a nice facial for my lady friend on one of the mornings. Overall a really great hotel for a short break. Nothing at all. Some might say it is not cheap, but then you are staying in the nicest hotel in the town.
very nice beautiful hotel
Had a sea view which was nice. Very friendly and polite staff. Spacious room. Outdoor swimming pool. Fitness room way too small. No kettle in the rooms so no possibility to make a cup of coffee/tea. Rooms need some fixing, a few scratches on the wall, at the bottom of the doors, etc...This is disapointing for a luxury hotel. Breakfast far too expensive (30 euros!!).
nothing as the price of drinks totally spolied my stay The price of 4 drinks at the pool gin & tonic, vodka & coke, martini & lemonade 26 euro each and a cognac & coke 27 euro total cost of 4 drink 105 euro. This is robbery. We also stayed this week at the Victoria Jugfrau 5 * 7 similar drinks came to 62 euros(85 CHF) & The Hilton Evian les Bain 4*, the same 4 drinks 42 euros.
The view, and the excellent meal we had at you top micelin resturant. No
The hotel and location were perfect for our needs. The staff was very helpful. My only comment would be the price of breakfast -- I think that it was very expensive for a light continental breakfast.
Beautiful modern design bedrooms, stylish common rooms. Excellent free wifi, good tv. Separate wc. Of street parking for 8 euros/day (although not really necessary in off season). Booking.com price better value (although rooms are expensive noting the flaws). The lack of a showers in all rooms is unacceptable for a top quality hotel. No inner lock on room. No 'do not disturb' signs. No safe. No waste bin in bedroom. Your reviews warned that the basic breakfast for 14 euros is over-priced, so we did not take it. I chose a room a the rear,as your reviews warned me correctly that rooms at the front would be noisy.
Pleasant clean room in the heart of Deauville; convenient for racecourse, shops, restaurants and beach, with parking available. Breakfast charges are too high - so we didn't partake.
the hotel was conveniently placed for the town and had the benefit of having its own private car park. the room was clean and comfortable & the air conditioning was a bonus the hotel promotes itself as "chic & contemporary" sadly it does not quite work and has a slightly awkward cold feel with the room we were in lacking any character .... even contemporary. I also feel the lack of a shower in any of the rooms doesn't sit well with the modern "contemporary" image the hotel seeks.
The hotel is really very French in decor, the staff are helpful and everywhere was very clean. The standard of housekeeping was excellent. The a/c in both the rooms where we stayed was very noisy, in very hot weather this would be a great disadvantage.
balcony of room, pool, location no space for clothes! room needed a dresser; needed a lamp by the area of large leather chairs; some balconies had no chairs, but we requested two chairs and a table, and they provided them.
Wonderful central location, within 5 minute walk from the main shopping area, and 10 minutes from the beach. Friendly staff and spacious family room.
Well designed comfortable room. Central location in Deauville. Nice small pool. Modern ambience, so not a lot of character. Comfortable.
Good location at a reasonable price
Situation idéale et personnel vraiment agréable, plus une piscine très appréciable pour se détendre : simplement parfait.
Good basic accomodation, value for money Breakfast was a little dissapointing
Very central, comfortable hotel with car parking
The hotel was basic but friendly and accomodating. The room was clean and a good size with a walk-in shower as opposed to a bath. (Which I prefer) No private parking and this can mean expensive street parking on a meter or a considerable walk to find a free space on busy days. They had WIFI but charged 5€ for 45min. The bed was a standard double as opposed to king size. No visible staff after 11pm.
Good clean room There was no air-conditioning & the staff spoke very little in english
We liked the location with beautiful views, the old-world atmosphere, large and comfortabl bedrooms with enormous wardrobe space, including separate dressing-room, the lovely pool and good service.
Very well organised, exceptional staff, traditional luxury hotel Some rooms need refurbishing
The shuttle service into Deauville The car park
The care of staff is excellent, interior of hotel is impressive as well as its golf fields and park around hotel. Very tranquil, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere The minor things: like every morning (our room windows were looking at main entrance side) we heard motor of the big trucks coming to bring products, take trash etc...which was pretty early morning around 7-30
The staff are polite, helpful and very well trained. They mix a very good cocktail. The bedrooms are getting shabby, particularly the bathrooms. The costs are higher than the quality one would expect. Four star quality at five star prices.
Quiet, pleasant views from the two windows in the room, west and north facing with sea view. very friendly and helpful staff. Alternative facilty in Golf Clubhouse for breakfast. The Golf Course and swimming facilities were good. No hot drink making facilty in room. Expensive cost of breakfast.
Superb staff looking after bedroom, bar and transport to town Distance from town was much further than expected
The polite staff, the quality of breakfast and ease of parking
The close proximity to Deauville, the pool and the golf course I thought the food was less than average. I became ill after having dinner on Tuesday night, the salmon appetizer was horrible, the riz du veau was stale and the desert gourment plate was unedible. My wife and I owned a food business in France for a number of years so we know good food. Also for the priice, the continental breakfast was way overpriced.
The surroundings are fantastic; the staff was very helpful and friendly The price for the breakfast is very expensive
The location of the hotel
closeness to center of town
Friendly staff, nice, clean, quiet room. Next to Saturday market and near good retaurants.
The staff were attentive and conversant in english which helped with my rusty french. The hotel was very clean and their duplex room catered very well for my family with three small children. There is insufficient parking but at least ample a short walking distance. Arriving after six on Sunday we did not need to pay anything until the following morning.
The hotel staff was great and very helpful the property was clean and updated. The breakfast which was incl. in the room rate was very nice as well! The hotel was located in a nice area and close to restaurants and stores. Our purpose for the visit was to enjoy a nice city but to be able to go and drive to the Normandy beaches, approx 1 1/2 hour drive. I think overall for the money... it was a great choise!
The location of the Hotel is ideal for our visit. the staff where very helpful this was the comments of all 10 of us who stayed No
I enjoyed the design of the room, the linnen, the general level of the hotel. The decor was really nice indeed and I had a great garden view. I did not like the lack of wifi internet in the rooms and even in the lobby. Before coming to Deauville I thought that free wireless internet is a must, at least in four-star hotels in Europe
Good location, nice decor ,relaxing ambience Building work opposite the room, but, thats no-ones fault and I'm sure it will be over soon
Great location. Size of room was very good as well as being very clean. Very nice hotel, with good rates.
It was close to the Yacht harbour & the shops & Market.
great romantic rooms. Good location near the beach. Parking was a little bit tricky, but at no cost. Nice little town. Rooms are clean, well decorated and big enough. English spoken !
Nice hotel, very close to the main street in Deauville and to the beach. Very thin walls, so you can hear what is going on in neighbouring room. Unpleasant smell in room coused by wrong working sewage system.
I liked the hotel alot. I went for Omaha beach but it was too far away (entirely my fault obviously). Good place though
The owner and staff were excellent. They made you very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
the staff were very friendly and helpful
Ok for one day stay. shortage of hotel staff.
the hostess was very welcoming and helpful.
Excellent location and friendly atmosphere. Pretty garden area.
Madame Jean, is more like a hostess than the proprietor of the hotel. She is extremely helpful, most accommodating, and thoroughly charming! The hotel is well located and a very pleasant place with a "family" feeling. There is no elevator. However on our arrival Madame Jean insisted on taking our cases and carrying them up to the second floor herself. And when she heard me coming down the stairs with my suitcase bumping on each step, she immediately came up and brought it down for me.
+staff, ambiance of a hotel -Breakfast was way too expensive for what it was, smell in a room
easy to find, relaxed, unfussy, very clean, pleasant dining room, very friendly and helpful staff. Also located in a quiet street just off the main boulevard quite near the race course. Excellent boulangerie just around the corner.
The room was nice and clean. Houskeeper cleaned it in the morning, but didn't change the linen. The price was ridiculously high for a room with shared toilets
Breakfast was very good Dark room that smelled of stale tobacco smoke. No provision to hang shower head on wall in cshower cubicle.
There was no toilet in the room
friendly staff, big room, clean and tidy. it is quite noisy, i'd improved the isolation
Good location, friendly staff The smell in the badroom
Very convenient location, close to Deauville’s high street and the beach. Rooms clean and tidy, owners very polite and helpful. Overall a very enjoyable stay at the Hotel du Polo, we look forward to coming back in our next trip to Deauville. It would be great to have some non-French channels in the bedroom's TV.
the location was very good and the staff was fair only the langque differance was a problem (not a lot of english)
The location of the Hotel is superb as it is one block back from a main road so nice and quiet, and the owners treated us very well. The beds are a little on the hard side, but we had no problems with this, but I'm sure other people might.
Convenient parking for guests, beautiful comfortable rooms a cut above some other hotels we stayed in this summer!
room design and locations room was far too small - toilet and bathroom were seperate... also extra charge for breakfast. we didn't have it, but if it was included in the rate (even EUR10 extra) we probably would have paid it...
underground parking good, charge for parking - and breakfast quite high compared to other hotels we stayed in
The location is excellent, in the center of Deauville, close to the Hippodrome. The beds are very comfortable. There is a separate bath room and toilet. I did not understand the television. The room was situated on the road side and was quite noisy.
Recently refurbished, modern style with usual amenities.Good location for Deauville Centre Room was small. No restaurant (except breakfast which was expensive)
Location Air Con did not work. Very hard bed. No screen around the shower, bathroom floor very wet.
The hotel is well located (close enough to the beach and casino, practically next door to a supermarket, and not far from the train station), the staff was very professional, helpful and accommodating, the room was very clean and well appointed, accurate to its 3 star rating. It was also perfectly quiet in the hotel: I don't remember hearing a single noise the whole time we were there, and although our room faced the street, noise from the street was not a problem. Overall I feel that the "rapport qualite/prix" was correct. No major complaints, I was overall satisfied with everything. I could only name quibbles, but they are things that would potentially have been fixed by the hotel staff, I just didn't care enough to ask: we could have used more towels; the heated towel rack is a nice feature but didn't appear to work; the bed was comfortable but not impressively so....little things. Also, we couldn't find ice, but I'm almost convinced that ice just doesn't exist in France, so again not a major problem. Again, the quality of the hotel was appropriate to its rating and to the price relative to other accommodations in town.
Central location and great service Price is high, the room was reasonably clean (and it was being cleaned daily, so I am very happy with the service), but the hotel is already starting to look a bit run down (e.g. stained corridor carpets)- strange for an establishment which is so new. Also, the garage is not fit for a normal sized car.
Excellent, the Hotel is brandnew and has W-LAN internet access at no extra charge. Parking in the garage costs 13€ per day. The elevator was out of order.
*New, clean rooms *excellent front desk staff, knew customers by name, always greeted kindly, very well presented, etc. *24 hour front desk service Location wasn't great *Breakfast staff were not nice at all *Key check procedures left me nervous about the security of my room *Rooms were a little small, but well equiped *Showers were bad, hose was too short and stopped water flow
The design of the hotel was superb - we hadnt realised until we arrived that they were modern buildings but the use of timber and the layout was very impressive. The food was excellent and all the staff were exceptionally professional and very welcoming. I had been concerned, reading some of the reviews, that the staff would let the place down, but that wasn't the case! Very badly behaved child in the restaurant rather spoiled our dinner but I suppose there is not a lot the hotel can do about that!
The very relaxing ambience of the hotel and standard of comfort provided. The staff were also extremely helpful and the buffet breakfast was very comprehensive, although a little expensive at 18 Euros. The fact that the Restaurant was closed on both Sunday and Monday Evenings which forced me to drive into Deauville to eat.
Excellent setup. Great place in the countryside. The bed rooms (and especially the beds) are very comfortable.
Nice location in quiet setting. Beautiful grounds. First rate buffet breakfast. Strong smell of paint in our room (difficulty sleeping). Hotel was almost empty during, so probably could have given us an other room that was not freshly painted. Dining was closed during our stay.
We found this hotel to be totally what one would not expect. It was quiet and relaxing and certainly a place we would re-visit.
Lovely Hotel. Very Expensive. Menu in French only and nobody spoke English in the evening so had to guess what to order.
Spacious clean rooms. Very luxury hotel at a very low price as they have great offers on booking.com. The nature around the hotel is wonderful! The staff is friendly and helpfull. The prices for mini bar, breakfast etc are way too high! One cappucino costs 9 Euro!
The staff were welcoming, and very relaxed and helpful. The ambience of the hotel was delightful - it was situated in peaceful and attractive countryside, and was a beautiful and interesting building. The room was lovely, quiet with a good view and had a luxurious feel. The facilities were excellent, bar (indoor and outdoor), restaurant, 3 tennis courts, indoor swimming pool with adjacent outdoor sunbathing/relaxing area, table tennis, pool table.
location is really good, calm place, park. Good swimming pool
Locality to town very good, setting was excellent.
Reasonably close location to the magnificent shores of Normandy
room very small and walls thin heard everything next door!
Clean and basic, decent for the price
Delightful town/village and the setting of the hotel was excellent. No
I was very unhappy as we arrived to find that our 3 single beds that I had booked and even confirmed on the telephone with the hotel when I phoned to check about our late arrival was in fact 2 single beds. This meant that we all slept fairly badly squashed in to 2 beds. The hotel reception in the morning did not seem that surprised and initially offered us a "free" continental breakfast (free anyway for our son), but in the end did drop the room price to their rack rent for a double- more than we would have paid with bookings.com I think. I was very unhappy as we only booked this hotel because of the 3 beds.l
The location of the hotel was interesting, being near the racecourses, and was peaceful, but still very convenient for Deauville's attractions. No
Service good. Reception friendly and helpful. Hairdryer did not work
Location; outlook; pool area; parking Absent minded staff in restaurant - needed reminding about orders and drinks
We liked the situation of the hotel. It was near Deauville, and a tiny village of St. Arnault, which was in walking distance, The surrounding countryside was beautiful. The entrance foyer, and corridor to lift could be improved.
Quiet location. Conveniently located near to Deauville. Some fittings showing signs of wear. No hair drier in bedrooms. No shower for sauna!
The food both in the evening and the morning was excellent and the check in was rapid and painless. The upstairs double room was far too tight for comfort and the bath room had obvioiusly been dropped in as a completed module and is now quite shabby. The second room on the ground floor was excellent
Location, breakfat, Food in general was excellent Had requested non smoking but got a smelly smokers room, so chaned to different room.
Good Car Parking, Quiet part of town & no road disturbance. Good continental Breakfast, Restaurant is good - espicially as a fallback measure (menu abit limiting). English isn`t bad, don't expect a full on conversation! Nithing bad
The staff was pleasant, especially the front desk. location fairly good. However rooms could have been better prepared.
The friendly staff. Convenient location.
The staff are always friendly and helpful. It has a pleasant location by the river with easy walking Unfortunately the price is now around 80 euros which with dinner and breakfast makes it quite a pricey hotel for what you get
The Hotel was very nicely finished, clean & smart with ample parking. The room itself was large (as was the bed), clean, had all I needed & great attention to detail. Reception Staff were excellent & very helpful. Only being there one night I didn't have the chance to use them but the Hotel had a great range of facilities.
The shuttle Rather ananymous, few people about, felt a bit deserted
It's far from the city center.
The staff was nice and friendly The hotel is split in 2 parts, and the shuttle going from one part to the other didn't work. Also it is very disorganized between the 2 parts.
Very good location for touring and good for coast. Modern, comfortable hotel with good value. All facilities required. Staff very friendly and helpful Large hotel - lacked character. Typical modern city hotel.
Jacuzzi was excellent, my daughter liked the pools outside Given the price for the room I would expect to find shower cap, bathrobe and slippers in the bathroom
Impossible to get taxi's from the hotel to anywhere...generally had to wait over 30 minutes each time I wanted a cab.
Clean tidy hotel with welcoming and helpful reception staff. Good sized rooms kept very clean. Very good self service breakfast. A chair suitable for sitting at the desk/dressing table would be a good idea in order to be able to sit and write a letter or use a computer.
The room was excellent with a good breakfast and helpful staff The location is much too far from Deauville requiring expensive taxis to ferry each way
It was a typical middle range French hotel so good and practical There were far too many children and too much consequent noise for business travellers
The room(s) were functional, the cooking facilities excellent and the beds very comfortable. Everywhere was clean and tidy with good storage space for clothes and luggage. Finding the reception was very difficult (eventually accomplished with the help of a resident) and parking was non existent. There was no soap in the rooms and the inventory was hopelessly translated. It was impossible to set up the sofa bed and the main bedroom was very claustrophobic and airless ( there were no windows). I would seriously question the claim to be 100 metres from the beach!!
There was no russian TV
Very central The beds! The pull out bed was broken and not replaced.
The area. Needed better directions to the reception, rather than to the rooms. Very confusing at start.
Everything was fine, except internet. With your own lap top you should pay 12euros for 2 hours. And also one room was without a window, it' really weird. Personal sholud speak english, at least elementary level.
good but arrival/booking in not adequately explained towels should be changed dailly
The location is superb, good for restaurants, shopping , casino and the beach also it is very organised and easy to understand, this is thanks to the excellent staff on the reception at the hotel across the road. One thing I would suggest is that people are told that they have to check-in at the hotel reception across the road first, that caused some confusion. Not really, excellent for the price.
The location of the hotel was very central, but the facilites were nice and clean. The receptionist was very helpful. It was great for a stay with my children and I would happily stay there again. We had no problem with parking as other reviewers stated, but we were there in October. Filling out an inventory was a pain. This is really a vacation rental so you will need to provide dish soap, soap in bathrooms, garbage bags, etc. Be aware that check in is at the hotel across the street! I only knew this from other reviews.
The position of this hotel was excellent, straight over the bridge from Trouville to Deauville, 5 mins walk to deauvulle beach, shopping, and close to some very nice restaurants, 20 mins walk to Trouville beach (beacuse there is so much to look at on the way)The staff were excellent and made good recommendations and let me practise my french, we would definately stay there again
The position of the hotel is excellent. Room was renovated and bathroom first class Room was right beside a very bright street lamp, which illuminated the room all night--this would not apply to other rooms.
The staff was always pleasant. There was someone at the reception 24hrs. They asked us to leave the key at the front desk everytime we stepped out which guaranteed I wouldn't lose it! There was wi-fi! Great location to shopping, restaurants, the train station in town, and the beach. The bed was not that comfortable. Low to the ground and very few pillows.
Staff were friendly and helpful; beds very comfortable. Breakfast options limited
warm ,friendly and welcoming,
Simple but nice Nothing
I could not be offensive about a stay at such a pleasant hotel. The staff were exceptionally helpful and courteous. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends. The downside is the location on an exceptionally busy and noisy main road. I would in future hope to stay in Room 206 on a quieter street rather than 205 which is on the noisy side. The solution was to firmly close the windows but that means closing out the fresh air.
Courteous and helpfull staff. Standard of breakfast was not very high.
the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was excellent for that price
location, price, staff, quietness. size of the bath, would prefer good shower
Elderly or infirm guests might find the stairs to the first and second floor bedrooms a little narrow and steep
I thought the staff were very friendly and they went out of their way to be helpful. Also the location was good - only 5 minutes from the town centre. There was a decent-sized bathroom and bedroom. No.
The owners were lovely people: Very helpful with restaurant recommendations and making reservations for us as well as suggestions for daytrips;etc: No fan in the room; it got quite hot at night and the rooms were a little noisy with street traffic and the seagulls in the early morning hours!
Great location, right near the centre of the town and near a supermarket top be able to make your own lunches if you desire. Perhaps not all rooms have this but you cant stand up under the shower
The proprietor and staff were very attentive and helpful, breakfast was excellent Felt the price was too high, we had stayed the previous evening in a similar hotel situated in the centre of Rouen for e20 less and breakfast was the same but only e6.50
The proprietors were particularly welcoming and very helpful offering before we asked such as a map ofthe town and explaining where different attractionswere situated There was advertised a bar but although I believe you could order a drink there was no bar. The proprietors were perfectly happy tro ffer us the free use of their fridge and glasses to chill our wine s e had a young child and were restricte as to the times we could remain outside the hotel. The facility was appreciated
Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Good, clean accommodations near heart of city. none
Central position, clean and comfortable. Very friendly, helpful reception. Good value. A bit noisy from the through road.
Quite basic big and comfortable room . Friendly staff.
this hotel is real gem: beautifully located in one of normandies most exclusive towns, deauville, but at a very affordable rate. it is a pleasant 5 minute walk from the beach and is beside a charming cafe and also a boulangerie (bakery). the staff are helpful and friendly, the room is clean, comfortable and very quiet at night. best of all: there is a wonderful patio in the back, for breakfast or for use in the afternoon to relax. i will be back!
Very nice hotel, right in the town proper of Deauville - near the beach and Casino. Best price for a very clean and comfortable room. We enjoyed our stay. Satisfied. Thanks again.
Very nice English-speaking staff, modern facilities, solid breakfast on an open patio, and just 5 min. (walking) from the beach!
Being able to sit outside on the patio, read, and sip a cool gin & tonic.
None Hotl was shabby , room looked unclean . Bathroom was mouldy . Watching owners dogs defacating each day, on a patio other guests had used to eat in was very unpleasant. Steer clear of this hotel.
They responded to comment that we were not good with stairs and roomed us appropriately.
Small personally run hotel No car park
It is close to Center International de Deauville. The hotel is quite far away from the train station. Wifi network can be searched but no password can be given. Only cable is provided for wired internet, though the host was helpful to guide us where we can use paid wifi service around for reserving the following days' hotel rooms. No toilet was allowed to use after check-out.
It's a short walk from the hotel to the beach, or to anywhere else in town. No wi-fi, but there is a free wired internet connection available. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
very helpful staff and friendly
Very good service. People are NICE.vERY good breakfast
Very nice small hotel next to the beach in Normandia. Very friendly staff.
Nice personnel, room was quite big and propper, good location
Gentleness of staff, breakfast in the room, hotel in front of the beach with the sound of waves. Better have a car, it is a bit far from Honfleur. But the beach is very good
The location of the hotel can´t be better nd the stuff (owners) are really friendly. We felt ourwelves like long-waiting family there.
Clean, Well maintained, very helpful and considerate hosts. American Express service does not work
The staff was very helpful with directions and maps and everything else we needed
Cleaning, in front of the beach, near of Deauville or Cabourg bigger cities Rooms are poorly soundproofed.
Staff are very friendly There was no elevator
