The room was big, the breakfast was substantial. But the construction was disturbing the peace and quiet of guests. My husband called and complained and they did not stop any construction until past 11:00 am. By that time, we were so fed up & left. They were renovating the hotel. The noise at 9:00 am was very, very, very AWFUL! It was bordering on the ridiculous. I would not have paid $-- for this freaking room.
The great customer service! No.
The breakfast was great.

The room set up was a little strange as the bathroom sink was in the bedroom, so if you were brushing your teeth, whomever was in bed would be staring right at you. but, the room was clean and spacious. The staff was welcoming and eager to serve.
From the moment we arrived we knew that we had booked the best hotel for the price in town. We drove by 9 other SLO hotels and Quality Suites was quality.
Living room and bedroom each with a tv which helps when you have kids. Breakfast is made hot to order. Loved the hotel. Parking was a tad tight.

The resort-like amenities

The hotel was under construction & I was not advised prior to my stay
Carpets seemed to be worn in lounge area
Breakfast and happy hour were great The air conditioner was poor, carpets were dirty
- breakfast - free happy hour - AC didn't work - was given a queen instead of king room - was charged the wrong rate (booking.com rate was $200/nt, theirs was $290) - front desk didn't care that the AC didn't work or that I was given the wrong room, instead told me to book through their site and not booking.com, had to spend 15m getting them to agree on the originally booked price
large rooms, suite hotel which is great for families complimentary breakfast and reception staff friendly and helpful location parking hotel is looking a bit dumpy in terms of cleanliness carpets were dirty and very worn overall interior was dark and needs freshening up first time i've stayed in the hotel where i've had to call housekeeping for cleaning/service
Why I booked the room, the site said WiFi access for free. But the hotel said there was fee and usually website other than theirs do not give correct info. I argued with them finally they gave me the access for free. Not a good experience. Very old hotel.
Great free breakfast clean quiet comfortable. Good beds. No
We always have a great stay at this hotel. We will definitely be back the next time we are in San Luis Obispo.
was clean, quiet, convenient location, nice staff breakfast was free but not very good.
Price and all other aspects of the hotel were good. Nothing fancy, but the hotel satisfied what I wanted for this trip. Wine and cheese benefit could be improved or dropped, minimal effort was done on the cheap.
The hotel was comfortable, the room clean, well arranged with an excellent bed; something we've had every time we stayed at a Great Western. Decent price. Good, helpful staff. We'll use this chain as our default hotel.
walking distance to cerro (the big mountain in town) trails. Far from the downtown corridor. , you have to drive or bike into town.
Clean bathrooms, great staff!
Quiet and clean No elevator
Extremely helpful staff
Very nice room Rather hard to get to room not enough close parking
My room was clean, quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and polite. The hotel is in a great location, close to SLO, shopping and the beach areas. I would stay again.
This basic room provided comfortable beds, a clean room and bathroom, a good breakfast, and updated furniture and electronics. Plenty of outlets. Couldn't hear anything from adjacent rooms. We just needed a place to rest during our road trip and this place was by far the most expensive we stayed at. If you have to make a last minute reservation be prepared to pay at least a 50% hike up.
clean room, new quiet heater/air conditioner, great price It's very close to the highway so when there is traffic you hear it. Nothing fancy, but everything in the room worked, including the wifi.
Clean room Fridge Microwave Wood floors Shower and tub Pricing No pool(empty) Low budget breakfast(should just not have one) Fridge needed more cleaning Parking (big trucks in small spots) All night people in and out Curtains (need darker ones that fit windows)
Great little place. Everything was clean. The hotel was right there when i needed it.
The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The pool was empty and in disrepair.
All very clean. The room was comfortable and the bed was super comfortable. I loved that the room had a fridge and microwave, most places don't. Everything was great.
The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The restroom too was adequate. Everything was great for a one night stop through San Luis. The location was literally down the street from the freeway, a gas station, the downtown area and two mins away from the mission we were there to see. Sure the exterior is no Hilton resort, but the price is great. The pool is basically a trash or deconstructed pit, but if the owner is smart, he'll just have it filled and have the area made into more parking space. Because a pool is not necessary for the place.
The hotel was very accommodating when I called ahead and requested an early check-in since we had an early afternoon wedding to attend. It also seemed like the bathrooms had been recently updated. However, we were uncomfortable being located in such a cramped, behind the laundry facilities hotel room. There was a hole in the wall near the mini-fridge and we had to park way down the street near someone's home because there was no parking when we got back.
Convenient location. Booked on Kayak the same night. A Sunday night booking so I think there were available rooms everywhere. For a Budget option it is a great place. Coffee, Juice and Rolls for the breakfast is a nice morning starter.. Parking is very tight. Outside seems run down but the rooms are kept nicely.
great breakfast uncomfortable pillows
When looking for a simple place to rest while traveling, the San Luis inn does that well. While being a short walk to downtown it is also close to the highway without being loud. Breakfast was a little sparse but Jack in the box is across the street.
Stayed the night. The room was large, clean and comfortable for our need. The Inn is not a vacation spot itself but it is cheap and a great place to stay if you have a car and you are passing in the area or would like to viait thia nice town. There isn't much one can expect for such a low cost but 'breakfast' was coffee and orange juice, two types of store cakes and two types of cereal. OK
The staff was unfriendly. The pool is under construction and this wasn't disclosed before booking. The room had an overpowering smell of cleaner. The free breakfast was only cold cereal.
Price, clean, parking. Poor internet wifi in my room which was far from lobby.
location-quiet even though next to the freeway no hoghway noice-nice size room decebt parking very clean overpricded=hoildau weekend
The proximity of the motel to the places we were visiting. the carpet was not as clean as I would have liked it to be. There was also a significant noise incident with drunk men pounding on doors, yelling, and generally acting obnoxious between 1 AM and 3:30 AM within the motel complex. If there was security at the site, this incident could have been cut much shorter.
Registration was brusque and wasn't sure what to do with my credit card returned by the clerk who licked her fingers during sign in.
It was affordable and conveniently located. The bed wasn't terrible and the room contained a mini fridge and microwave. I was able to book a room on short notice. It was a cold night and the heater kept me warm enough. I arrived around 9 pm. First I waited at the desk for several minutes ringing the bell and eventually hollering "hello?" toward the back to find out if there was a live human around. Still nothing. I called them from my cell phone and a woman picked up and apologetically emerged from the back, appearing to have just woken up from a dense, deep sleep. She mentioned nonchalantly that she didn't think the wifi was working and hoped it came back by morning. The room was nothing fancy but had at least the essentials. The wifi was out for most of the night but the cable worked. I immediately found several small ants in the bathroom, which didn't freak me out much because I respect ants for their tenacity and teamwork, but would still much prefer not to have them in my room. I could not get any water to come out of the shower no matter which ways I turned, tilted, and twisted the knob. I didn't expect much from this place, and chose it solely on price and location, but I still left quite disappointed.
The location was concient however it in no way made staying at that hotel worth it. The hotel was dirty, old and run down. All which would have been fine if the price was right. However upon checking in the front desk staff insisted we owed more money then Kayak said and tried to hassle us into paying more. They did no provide a print out of the costs and we we finally did get an itemized recipt it was clear they were gouging us.
Pool area, good size room, parking close, sliding glass door to patio, great diner next door, quick aces to freeway, private area Late check in under staffed late room check in :( needs some interior updating sheers torn fake flowers got to go trim the roses get a Gardner has potential
I needed to book a room that had two queen beds, this was one of the few hotels in the area that had last minute availability. Lack of network access. I would never stay anywhere that I knowingly be disconnected from the Internet. It's a requirement for my job to have access at all times and makes life much more difficult if I'm trying to check everything on my phones data.
Our stay was amazing! Great breakfast which included an omelette station was included in our rate. Our room was extremely spacious and we were greeted with bottled water at check in. Staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Stacy and team even provided a mini snack basket in honor of my husband's birthday. After finding out that we were extremely sore from an ATV trip, they allowed us to soak in the hot tub after hours. The restaurant staff even went as far as to provide us with free winery passes. Again, our stay was perfect!! We are already planning our trip back to this location.
The breakfast option - food was good, and menu selection has a lot of options. The cooler to control the room temperature. While it was nice to have the thermostat to control the air, I was very difficult to make the room temperature comfortable. One degree lower in temperature made the room freezing, while one degree higher made the room hot and stuffy.
We were able to make a reservation through Kayak when most other hotels were already booked for the 4th of July. Pretty much one of the most disappointing stays we've ever experienced. The room smelled musty, the room was super overpriced due to the holiday, the staff was unpleasant, continental breakfast was not included, the room was small and had an awkward setup. This hotel was unlike my past Marriott stays at other locations.
Room was good, bar open till 10pm, has everything one needs for a nice stay while in town for other events. Busy weekend so the price was steep.
Clean, good amenities, very well priced
The Travelodge was very affordable and comfortable. Nice bed, bathroom, and television. It was also very quiet, and just minutes from downtown SLO. For the price, we don't have any complaints. The desk and bedroom area were somewhat outdated by permanent living standards, but I would only complain about that if I was asked to find a complaint about the establishment.
Location Beg Bugs Stains on Bedspread and Curtains Front Desk Assistance
My teenage boys and I were falling asleep after a very busy day. Suddenly, the fire alarm went off and we started to smell something that was burning. We discovered it was the air conditioner which we had to turn off and open up all the windows for ventilation. It was a very crowded hotel. We had to stay in our room and eventually, we fell asleep for a few hours breathing in the smoke. When we reported this to the front staff, they did not see it has a very big deal.
The room was excellent nice and sunny and clean The bathroom was good but the toilet is too low There are many seniors who cannot get off the toilet because of it being way too low and dated. The parking was very convenient and next time we will again ask for the same room. The price is fabulous for 3 people The beds are great and the colors are very fresh and the bedding very nice. It was great, Johanna
good location should be more modernized & upgraded considering cost. breakfast area is too small, should be bigger. maybe add tables and chairs outside.
The bathtub was beautiful! Loved the tiling, which made everything else seem okay. The pillows were kinda flat, but we we're on a budget, so it happens.
There was a mistake with our reservation and they were very unhelpful in trying to help. The person in front of us even had the same mistake with their reservation and they were unwilling to do anything to try to resolve the situation. On top of a horrible check in experience, we checked into our room and had a giant bug in the room. They were helpful in letting us change rooms after we told them about the bug.
I was really impressed with everything. The Staff were helpful in every way.
Easily accessible from the freeway, clean sheets, and towels. It was the small details that could be better. The bathroom needs some repairs done. Shower was not working properly and water kept dripping from the bathtub faucet.
After I left my wallet behind, staff contacted me to let me know and then were very accommodating in making arrangements to have it sent to me.
The housekeeper was using our bathroom when we got into our room...so weird. Also, there was not fitted sheet on the bed. That seems really gross to me.
It's located adjacent to a Denny's and iHop and other restaurants are a stones throw away. The bed was very hard and the floor carpet looked dingy.
wifi not working. 3 lights not working. dirty towels. shower drain blocked.
My stay here was very comfortable. It was clean, the staff was hospitable & it was in a great location. The price was very reasonable also. I would definitely stay here again.
This is one of the worst hotels I've stayed in over many years. At max, I'd pay $59 a night as it is basically a roof over your head. We paid $189 due to it being Cal Poly move-in weekend but you can't charge that amount for the hotel it is. It hasn't been renovated for over 10 years I'm guessing by the look of the rooms.
Actually a nice place to stay for the price you pay. Internet. Kept going in and out. Had to be right by lobby to get a constant connection.
Found a used " Q-tip" on floor next to the bed. Other than that our stay was good
My room was clean and staff were friendly. The mattress in the room sagged in the middle, the wifi was very weak, and there were homeless people hanging out by the dumpsters.
My friends and I stayed at the Avenue Inn after driving through Big Sur. We arrived after 10 pm and were greeted by Saul, who showed us to our room and gave some excellent dinner recommendations for late at night. The room was in great condition (newly renovated) and very comfortable for 4 adults to sleep in. Saul helped us in the morning by providing additional towels and helped with checkout as well. Overall we were very happy! Nothing - 100% would stay here again.
Smallish room, but it was quiet, clean and comfy.
Great service, location, beds and showers!
close to everything the breakfast
There are li me 200+ rooms to stay in and each one has a different theme to them! The foods is great and the overall feel of this place is comfort! The staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was a little burnt but that is the first time eating breakfast there...I just hope it was a fluke!
Exceptional spa service by Melissa and an overall state of mind that is total relaxation. Absolutely loved it. Nothing to dislike
Unique character , nice location, friendly staff.. Having Mount Madonna so close by to be able to hike or jog up in the morning was great. Also very nice pool area. Restaurant and café very good. All in all a good value. A little dated
It's a lovely town and the hotel just being up the hill is very convenient to everything, very good value
Comfortable. Had wi fi, iron, hair dryer etc. affordable for the location.
Clean, comfortable, good wifi. No elevator
The staff, the poor quality of breakfast
It was quiet the night I stayed. The shower curtain rod was broken.
Good value for the money. Clean, comfortable. No noisy guests. Convenient location. Morning buffet could have a few more choices.
Was just off the freeway & close to town. Room was good size & clean.
Its location near the city center and cleanliness.
Just a decent clean hotel for a quick nights stay while on the road for business. No complaints.
Liked that we were within walking distance of most attractions we wanted to visit. No pet area(per se) for curbing pets.
Friendly staff. Hotel room was quite. very small pool, cold. Good breakfast. Overall good amenities for room price.
Room was large - had a one bedroom suite Floor was dirty, afraid to go barefoot, room generally was dingy, tv remotes in both tvs didn't work even after asking the maid to fix them, Price hiked way up for a college weekend, paying as much for dingy hotel as a good hotel should cost.
Staff,bad and big rooms
checking out nothing, it really was a dump.
Not worth the money. Bed sheets were not clean. Overall bad experience.
Dirty rooms, bugs in the bed, staff was unhelpful and unfriendly.
Pros: - The keys to the room worked! - Flat screen TV - House keeping kept room clean - Good Location in San Luis Obispo - All rooms are non-smoking. Cons: - The staff at the front office we RUDE. - WiFi was almost non existent. - Breakfast had Danish Muffins, Regular Muffins and Bagel, coffee and couple of juices. No Cereal or any hot breakfast. - The room does not have power outlets in the right places. If you want to charge your phones and laptop. The outlets next to the desk are take by the TV. You have to use the ones next to the bed. A big NO-NO in today's world of devices that need charging. - Since all rooms are non smoking, there are quite a few people who smoke
The location was perfect. Direct access to the freeway and there are plenty of convenience stores and restaurants near by. Also only a 10-15min walk to downtown. I reserved 2 rooms. When I arrived I was given two upstairs rooms that were not ready yet. I walked in and they were both trashed. After waiting a few mins thinking that the room service lady that was next door was going to come over and clean it, but didn't, I went back to the office and requested that I got a change of rooms. It was a little bit of a hassle at first because the manager tried to tell me to wait for them to be cleaned.
Nothing at all. Pretty deceiving pictures and reviews. Poorly cleaned room, with old sheets, furniture, bath facilities, and air conditioning/heater. Billing was troublesome, being charged incorrectly twice and price is too high for low quality, services and amenities. Other costumers also were complaining about heater malfunction and poor services. Breakfast was stail and very poor. Save your money and stay at a motel 6or a super 8 and save 30 bucks as well.
The same kind of room and facilities as a Motel 6 at triple the price.
Staff was friendly and decently accommodating. "Fresh" bathroom towels were dirty, shower went from scolding hot to ice cold intermittently, and the bed was a rock. Not to mention the pool was a shade of green...If it wasn't for the staff being fairly pleasent this would have been a one star, instead of a two star rating. By far the worst Ramada Inn we've stayed, which is sad because SLO is beautiful and the location is great.
close to cal poly slow and downtown staff did not know how to get my Wyndham rewards points/credit
My overall experience at this hotel was poor. I've stayed in better hotels in Tijuana for the same amount of money. The front desk staff were very rude and disrespectful. My room wasn't ready when I arrived. My room was filthy when I checked in. I was told by the Indian staff that this was the only room they had available so I couldn't check into a different room. There was a huge stain on the carpet, my sheets and blankets had holes in them, my sheets were to big for the bed, the tv guide said I was able to access HBO and I couldn't. I will never stay here again. everything. 619-876-9767
Convenient to downtown and university
Parking.. Stuff... Nearby Location.. Downtown is walk-able.. Other Accessories like Owen,Refrigerator & AC everything is good Bathroom equipment was not good, TV Remote not working properly.. Room is very short
closevess to town
There was no AC. The room was outdated. Bed was uncomfortable. We would not stay there again. It was expensive for what little it offered.
cleanliness the refrigerator motor was too loud , it woke me up several times during the night. The no smoking policy
Nothing Under the bed there socks from previous guests. Clearly they didn't vacuum the room. There was no central heat. A heater was provided, but it was not sufficient to heat the room.
The room was perfect for us. Clean , nice design, felt newly updated , nice countertop in bathroom too. The breakfast in the morning is included in the room cost and was better than expected. Lots of options . They have a pancake machine that pops out yummy pancakes in one minute. Will definitely refer friends and be back myself Only bad thing was our room was very bright in the morning and there were no curtains that actually closed , only decorative.
Way way overpriced kayakshiuld have offered better alternatives in the area Hands down the highest priced holiday inn I have ever stayed at
Loved the staff and the location was perfect The elevators need a bit of tuning, but over all great hotel
Good location. Easy access to fwy and town. Restaurants within walking distance. Free wifi worked well. Staff friendly and helpful. Lounge chairs in the room were showing their age. The leather on the arms was wearing off. Room could use some updating. .
Room cleaning crew did excellent job Breakfast can be better
Location: right downtown, steps away from restaurants, shopping, coffee shops, bars, and the Farmer's Market. Convenient parking in city garage a block away. Very accommodating staff eager to meet dietary (gluten free) needs and to recommend local restaurants and sites to see. Breakfast cooked to order with fresh fruit was a real treat. Large rooms with private baths. Property is going dog free which will be a treat for guests with allergies. Location was amazingly quiet considering how many bars a just a block or two away. Property is showing its age a bit. Carpets on grand staircase leading up to second level need to be replaced; table runner on stand in hallway had hole in it; sinks in the old wash stands are funky and nice but not terribly functional and should be upgraded. AC unit had a hard time keeping room cool during 90+ days. Rooms overlooking Garden Street can be noisy early morning as street sweepers and garbage trucks make their rounds.
Close to center of downtown & Thursday night farmers market. Within walking distance of train station. Friendly, helpful staff, good-sized rooms. Personal preference is for less antique ambience, more drawers, bigger closet space and shower only (vs tub/shower combos).
The room was comfortable, well laid out, and immaculate. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown and close to the University where I had meetings. I ate dinner at the Bistro and the food was fabulous. Our server was amazing and described the dishes perfectly. Delicious meal!! Overall the hotel is beautiful. I do plan to return. Please know that the front desk staff is kind and friendly. However, while escorted to my room no one offered to assist me with my bags. I wasn't aware there was no lift and would have to negotiate stairways. My room was up a flight of stairs and with back problems carrying my heavy suitcase can be tricky. It's a bit embarrassing for me to ask for help with what may seem a not too heavy bag for most people. I had to pause and ask for help. Would have been a nice gesture for the front desk to ask if I needed assistance with my bags. Small detail but an important one for future guests.
Food, rooms, staff, balcony Nothing
Walk around downtown. Well designed rooms.
