Beautiful, central to many attractions. Early May is "shoulder season" so check hours and availability of sites and resturaunts before you go. We were disappointed by some closures, but had great experiences and service everywhe we went.
The location, accessibility and facilities were very nice. Room was very basic, almost run down. We were visiting in the Summer and there is not Central Air conditioning in the rooms - just a window unit in one of the rooms - so the entire condo was very hot.
large one bedroom which allowed our family of 5 to stay easily. The village itself is like Whistler village with plenty of food options and games in the common areas for families to do together. slow elevators.
The resort is conveniently located close to the town. Smoke from lower floors permeated our room at night. I woke several times wheezing.
Large comfortable room, kitchen, quiet The keys didn't work properly, I had a staff member show me the "trick" to opening the door. I feel that for the rate, a few repairs were in order. I don't think I would stay there again.
Location and the outside was nice. The parking was good and easy The room was dated the a/c didn't work and it had a old people smell in it. The carpet was gross my family and I don't wear shoe in the house we all wear or shoe here. We didn't even let our son sit on the floor without a towel. We are not clean freaks but when the carpet looks like the and the bathroom grout in shower is is dirty. I wouldn't stay here for that price again
Rooms are nice. The staff is friendly. No A/C. Was very uncomfortable in the morning, as we had to have the windows open to keep cool, and since the windows were facing the East side, the sun starting to beat into the room at 5AM. It was very hot in the rooms in the morning. Also there was only one window to open in the living room area, and you could only open it about three inches. I really wanted to like this place, and I felt the room had a lot of potential, there was just a lot of little improvements that needed to be made. The armchair in the living room had rips all along the arms. The chair outside was covered in a colored wax substance. A couple of the shelves were broken in the fridge. One of the kitchen drawers broke off as I was opening it. I feel like for the price I paid for this room, I would expect the resort to take a little more pride in making these minor improvements in the room.
Very nice location. Clean, huge rooms. Very nice bathrooms. We got a two bedroom condo for two couples and it was more than enough room. Awesome patio and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils and such. My only complaint is that the pool and jacuzzi were pretty dirty. Very foggy water with a bunch of debris. But there are three jacuzzis so that was nice. The pool and jacuzzis were pretty dirty. Also the jacuzzis have a horrible finish on the floor and where you sit. It was like a popcorn stucko ceiling. Very painful for a girl wearing bikini bottoms
The beautiful setting
Friendly staff price was right. We didn't get a room with good view :(
The staff was friendly, the parking was convenient, the bell boy cart was convenient, and I loved the one bedroom. I consider myself a germaphobe, especially when staying in the High Sierra, but this place was as clean as could be! I wish the pool was opened for at least an hour more! Maybe it was a good thing that it wasn't. Our room was also a walk from the elevator, closer to the stairs. This was only incovenient when carrying all of our stuff, the bell boy cart came in handy!
The location was great! It was right in front of the lift. The hotel also seemed really clean. It was also near the lodge and a restaurant. There weren't enough covered parking spaces and it snowed heavily. We also had to walk from the covered parking to the hotel in the snow with our suitcase because there wasn't a covered walkway.
Very close to the main lodge, dog friendly, sound proof walls could not hear other pets. Cleaning staff is very nice. Not nearly enough garage parking (there really should be more garage space for the amount of rooms in that one area), staff was asleep/ M.I.A. and we waited to check in for 20+ minutes after an 8-hour drive yelling, "hellooooo, anyone there?" Front desk could use a lot of customer service improvement. Very small rooms with VERY drafty, old windows. Would have paid more for a nicer room if we had known.
No A/C! Very noisy - music was playing outside the ENTIRE night. Old. Not very comfortable, although the staff was nice.
Location was awesome! Being able to walk a few steps from your room to the ski lifts was amazing. Other then being on the older side, it's a great place. The staff was great and we enjoyed all the restaurants/bars the hotel has to offer. My biggest complaint is that the hotel does not offer a in room safe for personal belongings. It wouldn't have been a big deal but we were on the first floor and our window did not lock. Making it possible to be opened from the outside. We didn't have any issues but it was a bit alarming while we were out on the slopes all day.
Location They should be called the mammoth mountain motel.
I love the closeness to the lifts and the ski school. This is THE place to stay if you have kids. Our room was near the hot tub & warm pool area. The lobby and bar area were perfect ski lodge style ( high ceilings, antler chandeliers, stone work). Free DVD rental for a quiet night in your room after skiing all day. Magnificent views! Older, limited food choices.
Location, rooms were very clean, proximity to slopes Parking. If you leave at night to go around town then good luck later on to find a parking spot in the garage. Fees and taxes were excessive
Quiet Hair in the tub. When booked the hotel cost was $130, by the time extra fees and expenses were added it was $200. Booked a superior room with mountain view which actually had a view of the roof of another building. False advertising.
Best location to stay. Closest to the lifts. The room and the elevator are a bit small.
I actually didn't realize that I booked the room through Hotels.com since I was using Kayak.com. Anyways, long story short I had to switch my reservation and Heidi at the front desk was the best and very accommodating! Room was clean and comfortable.
Loved the place, will come back again.
Desk staff and restaurant staff were accommodating In the annex on the first floor, you can hear every footstep of people in the rooms above. Rooms were stuffy. No AC and opening the window was not enough.
Great place to stay Pricey like everywhere else during summer
We got a great rate. We had a room with two queens and it was clean and comfortable. The location is perfect with amenities and activities for the whole family within close proximity.
The room was nice, comfey bed, nice bathroom, staff was nice. Way too over priced for what it is. It's not a Westin. Far from main lodge.
Good location. Nice clean rooms with nice linens and towels. Clean. Parking is crowded.
Like everything, rooms spacious and well maintained.
I loved the décor, very retro 50's but warm and cozy. The lobby was warm and inviting with a fire place, plenty of space for families to hang out, with board games, chess and a pool table. They have a spa with sauna and steam room, fitness area. Rooms have all the amenities you need to feel like your at an Embassy Suite but the décor is one of a kind! Check -in was disorganized, the front desk person was not empathic of the stress that creates. The manager/owner was on it and took care of our stress that there was an hour wait for our room. Maid service is disorganized, takes them all day to get to your room, one day our room was not cleaned, because we were in and out of it more than usual.
I liked it was close to everything. Had restaurants attached to the facility. The staff were excellent, gave extra blankets, towels etc. Nice shower with unlimited hot water! Hallways had a little wet dank smell.
Staff was excellent... Friendly helpful and welcoming... Food was good great variety... The parking garage was great because it snowed enough to bury a car and we did not have to dig out to head home. Although our room was clean it had an odd smell and there were ants in the bathroom
Price Can hear people upstairs walking
I was bitten by bed bugs. Would not recommend I saw only one staff member my entire stay. The only thing good about this hotel was the breakfast.
near mountain paths; breakfast ok, staff friendly air conditioning was broken; the rugs felt damp and not clean;
Location is great. No AC made the stay uncomfortable. Fan provided was loud and floor was not vacuumed daily.
Proximity to ski resort Maintenance issues in bathroom NEVER addressed.
- proximity to mountain - parking - breakfast - fan in the room - people with kids kept us up ALL night. Banging and jumping around - room keys are odd, ridiculous, and easy to lose. Get regular room keys that fit in a wallet.
location and value was good. Water in bathroom didn't respond to the temperature setting selected, both in shower and in sink. Often couldn't get cold water in sink. Water pressure was very low in shower.
Loved everything!!! People are also very courteous.
Great place. Easy access to room. Quiet. The staff was excellent. Nothng
Staff were great NA
nice size room, good bathrooms/shower, continental breakfast was good altho choices limited there was fresh fruit, temperature control was good noisy hallways....doors slammed all night when closed from people going in and out from rooms
Location and covered parking Wifi and cable tv was down for most of the time there
Staff goes out of their way to be welcoming and accommodating. Very generous continental breakfast. Large rooms. Clean. Nice lounge with fireplace. Underground or sheltered parking. Great location. Nice little kitchenette area (micro and fridge). Highly recommend as a economical or value-for-money choice.
Wonderful staff. Very helpful and kind. Clean bedrooms. Kitchenette with sink, fridge and microwave in bedroom. New TVs. Bathroom has large vanity outside of it. Eco-friendly & organic soap (Ginger Tea w/ Oats... freakin nice) wasn't a bad touch. More than enough towels. Warm. All you need after a long day on the slopes. SUPER CONVENIENTLY LOCATED TO WALK TO OLD MAMMOTH ROAD AND BLACK VELVET COFFEE (Best coffee in town!). I thought it could be updated – but a remodel is a large undertaking, so no complaints here. Shower faucets could be higher – don't fit anyone over 6' tall.
The front desk was polite and helpful and the location was close to restaurants. There was a small kitchenette with paper towels and some plates. The breakfast room was lovely. The walls were paper thin and you could hear everything around you. The toilet flush upstairs was very loud and the outer door slam was also loud. The room had a damp odor.
great location and value hot tub opens at 3pm
Not much good about it. I guess the bed linens even though mine was stained and ripped seemed to be clean. Walls were so thin you could here EVERYTHING on both sides and hallway. Musty smell. No air conditioner or elevator. Additional hidden charges after arrival. Not worth the price.
Everything. This hotel is amazing.
24 hour cocoa in the lobby The room had a balcony Angel's restaurant next door It was like walking into the 1970's and it looked and smelled like it hadn't been cleaned since that time. There was mold in the shower. There were stains on the towels. We found toe nail clippings between the bed and nightstand -- it looked like it had never been vacuumed. It was even worse under the beds. The beds were uncomfortable and squeaky. There was no elevator so be prepared to carry all our luggage and gear up 3 flights of stairs. The walls were paper-thin. We could hear everything our neighbors said. Nothing seemed to work in the room including the TV so the maintenance man was sent to fix it. He was extremely rude and constantly swore in front of our small children (and he was apparently drunk according to the front desk). It took a total of 6 hours and 3 TVs until we received a working one. The parking was low and tight, especially when you have a full-sized SUV with a ski rack and snowboards on top. The chairs and luggage rack that came with the room were broken and left out on the balcony. They have open trash cans in the stairwell which contributed to the smell. Plus, both the maintenance man and housekeeping don't wear uniforms so don't forget to ask for their name and ID as a safety precaution. I guess the maintenance man had one thing right when he said the owner is a cheapskate because he refuses to update anything in the hotel. This place should be demolished.
great value for the price, didn't expect to have a jacuzzi too!
Very run down inside and out. Tub leaked all night, light switches had to be jiggled to work. Cleaning crew tried their best with what they had. A tidy shambles. Outside needs paint, inside needs paint, plumbing, and electrical. Room door electrical lock missing replaced with ram shackle key lock and metal plate that made opening door difficult.
Only positive thing is the location, close to Mammoth Lakes DON'T STAY HERE, and SAVE YOURSELF FROM FACING INSULT AND RACISM. Very dirty, run down place, no elevator. Had to carry luggage up two floors through narrow stairs. Rooms were pretty small, bathroom door did not lock, towels had stains on them, blankets had multiple tears and holes.. No one in front desk at night.. Breakfast was awful. Most importantly the Manager and his wife were so rude and unprofessional. While we were checking in, the manager made snide remarks about another customer who just stepped out after checking out. Later, the Manager's wife insulted our friend, when we protested she said "This is America and I am American, so I can say what ever I want". We were really shocked to see her level of racism !!
Good location. Not very well maintained. Old. Bathroom door did not close. Noisy
The location is good, the continental breakfast although basic was ok. My room was clean and well supplied with what one would expect.. Disappointing compared to the last time I stayed just a few rooms down the hall. This room was fairly cold when I got there and took about 3 hours to warm up. The dresser looked like it had been in a flood. The tv remote and sound didn't work properly. The room needs up dating, several tile broken in the bathroom and overall the room seems very dated.
Old, old, OLD!!! The toilet ran all night and flushed it's self every 15 minutes or so, made me sad since we are in a drought!!! The outside does not look like the pictures... we were not told that there was a sauna/hot tub or game-room.... so those pictures should not be included if they are not available. My fault to assume there was an elevator.. upon check-in I asked for a ground floor room and he practically laughed at me. Not ADA friendly. Was worried they were going to charge us for things that were already broken in the room after check-out =[ Glad it was only a 1 night stop on our way to Lake Tahoe.
The manager was very friendly and helpful...he really made us feel welcome, especially after the long drive we had to get there. The continental breakfast was excellent. A very enjoyable two night stay. Although clean and comfortable, we felt that it could do with updating, as it is beginning to look a bit tired.
All the Attendants were very friendly. Breakfast was fun and so was the pool table on top of the Loft. Located right near great trails and shopping. Cozy lobby area with a nice fire place to relax by. I left my computer charger chord in my room and they mailed it back to me. Very noisy and badly insulated walls for sound as most of the older properties in Mammoth. The bathroom air vent sounded very old and when nearby rooms put theirs on it was like a washing machine on spin cycle LOUD...
the hotel had sufficient amenities (fitness; pool; breakfast). My room with a bar counter, frig, microwave was very room with great counter space and floor space. comfortable bed. the hotel is in dire need of remodeling and was beat up and still using actual keys for doors so you just had to ignore the condition for what it offered in location to town and comfortable rooms.
The free breakfast is always nice...nothing cooked to order of course..but it appears most hotels are doing this. Handy when wanting to get up and on the road ASAP. A couple of hikers came in and wanted to use the restroom. They were told no as it was for guests only. Not sure how many guests use the lobby restroom...I use the one in the room! Overall the hotel could use a face lift.
only strawberry yogurt; I am allergic; this is the second time this happened this year.
Spacious rooms and great sheltered parking. Breakfast choices were limited.
information wrong. reservatoni said two queen but we were given a room with one bed
They could not get the reservation right. The breakfast was poor, there was no selection on 2 of 3 days I stayed. The common areas were run down. The heat in our room was either blast furnace or ice box. The jacuzzi looked like a science experiment. I could go on.... Not worth the $$$$ I payed during the holidays.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Building is a bit old. Breakfast had no meat and no eggs(not breakfast without meat and eggs).
Very nice friendly staff. Lots of room in the room itself and lots of nice flat furniture and areas to place and spread out luggage/wet ski gear. Decently fast internet. Good breakfast. 24hr indoor pool and spa! Only about 24-25 channels on the TV.
Gym was setup inside the dining room.
Shilo Inn is an old hotel that is in desperate need of a remodel. The name 'suites' in their name is misleading. There was no suite. They are just standard rooms. There is an old hotel stench like someone smoked in there and it was covered up with air freshener. The carpets were dingy. The TV was an old tube television from the 80s. The beds were old and springy. The wifi would not work - tried three different access points. The free breakfast is...meh. The water in the swimming pool was cloudy. Don't recommend staying here if you have another choice. Maybe Motel 6 would have been better.
Cheap Wood floors made it cold on my feet in morning
Pet-friendly--it had a path below the property where you can walk the dogs; poop bags and receptacle at the back of property. The location can't be beat---across is a bakery and an outlet and a few more shops. McDonald's, Rite Aid, and lots of gas stations nearby. Oh, and did I mention that the USPS is right beside it? It's only a few minutes drive away from Mammoth Ski resort and Twin Lakes. We never consider staying at Motel 6 properties but the reviews we've read of this particular Motel 6 at Mammoth Lakes were reliable. It wasn't like it-must-have-bed-bugs-and-molds thing or anything like that. The modern decor is kind of nice and they did choose material (bed covers, curtains and wood flooring) that could repel fur. I appreciate the service of the staff as well. They went beyond just a smile and made sure our reservations were taken care of. (This review is based on a stay before the summer season ended.) Just the fact that they didn't provide any bathroom amenities like shampoo, conditioner, and hair dryer. But maybe that's the Motel 6 way, I wouldn't know because I've never stayed in one. There was no coffee pot either, luckily I decided to bring my electric kettle.
Good location, central to everything. Close to the village. Not enough parking in front of my room. People with motorcycles are hogging up one space each! I was forced to park on the other side of the building away from my car. It was a hassle to load and unload luggage. Parking should be assigned with a parking pass that shows your room number or something... No shampoo provided in the bathroom! For $116 a night plus taxes, a sample size bottle should be included. Nearly every motel I've stayed at provides it. I had to wash my hair with barsoap. Not happy about that. TV remote had dead batteries in it... Toilet seat would not stay up on its own. It kept slamming down on its own. The toilet was also nasty under the seat and in the hinge area. They never cleaned under it! Mattress was too stiff to sleep well on. I had a sore back for 2 days. The ceilings creak when people upstairs are walking at night. Very annoying. Wifi was "free" but only for 24 hours eventhough I was staying for 2 nights... it was also very slow!
It was quiet at night so we could rest. The beds were horribly uncomfortable, the water in the sink was either super hot or freezing cold, no in between. The room had several carpet stains from wear and tear, but at some point, you need to replace the carpet. The entire room showed a lot of wear and tear so it looked really low class. Overall, the room was "dingy & depressing". I realize this is a Motel 6 and not a Hilton but for $75 (and we only stayed 8-9 hours!) we would have liked a little more comfort for our money. Thanks. (PS-my cousin and I have stayed in this motel several times in the past and this is the worst we've seen it.)
Rapid check-ou, easy to find Swimming pool wa out of use, however advertised
Good location. With pool although we did not use it. We had to pay for internet and the front desk said it is good for viewing emails. It wasnt. The room is a bit small for the 2 beds for the price of $168.
Surpringly updated rooms. Clean.best value. 2 story. No spa.
Very basic and overpriced. No breakfast. No fridge and hair dryer.
No Internet and no Laundry available = both broken
The room was very small but the furniture/decor was up to date and very functional, space wouldn't have been an issue if we weren't cramming 4 bikes into the room with us. The mgmt put my pizza in their fridge and was overall very helpful. Modern windows and doors meant the room was quiet when sealed. The AC went out, which meant we had to leave the windows open, and the modern dual pane windows when closed keep the noise of other travelers comings and goings to very low levels. With the windows open large groups of foreign travelers rambling off in their native languages at 1 in the morning will drive anyone insane! The GM Gary was very understanding of my complaint and very graciously compensated us for the trouble, which was a pain for them since I paid through expedia/kayak. TLDR?: I had a problem that couldn't be fixed, GM covered it immediately
Close to restaurants and to the village also free transportation to go around town great views a good spot to be with the family
close to area of interest and clean and value for money no
Very quaint. Not fancy, but functional and comfortable. The pancakes at breakfast were some of the best I've ever had! . Staff was very friendly and made us feel at home. The lack of counter space in the bathroom.
Great location, charming, delicious breakfast (included), very close to mountain, towns and restaurants. Hot tub was great for relaxing after full day of snowboarding. Bed could have been a little more comfortable, everything else was wonderful
Nothing of note... Place is old and worn..window and ac did not work
Friendly, helpful, thoughtful, quaint, old but clean. In-room artificial fireplace-heater. Romantic. Clean hot tub. Central location. Thank you ..Will return. Wish we could stay longer!
Even though the cabins aren't very new, they are what you could call rustic and charming. The restaurant is not cheap but well worth the money Be careful with your credit card, they keep your warranty blocked for 12 days, in stead of 48 hours as they claim.
The staff was very hospitable; the lodge-feel; continental breakfast was good. Great location at the Tamarack Cross-Country Ski center; right on Twin Lakes; set at 8,300ft. All beautiful! The walls were thin... the piano man was playing both evenings and felt like he was right in the room with us. Had to leave our room to use the community bathroom; Had to borrow a TV/DVD player from the front desk, not pre-stocked in rooms.
Excellent location, just across the street from the gondola to Canyon Lodge. Walk out of your room in your ski gear and you're good to go. Great restaurant and wine bar, free continental breakfast very convenient to grab something quick before getting on the mountain. Would definitely stay here again.
I was absolutely impressed by staff. Part of it was Kayak's new check-in process allows you to make requests, and the hotel was absolutely on point with follow-up. But even then, they went out of their way to make my stay pleasant and fun. I stayed at condos for the same price, but I'd definitely go back here instead. Also, the location is perfect to the lifts. The hotel still uses real keys instead of key cards. Easier to lose, especially on a mountain. But you may think of it as a plus.
This is an older hotel that is very nicely kept. It is clean and in good repair. The staff was nice and helpful. It is in a good location right across the street from the Village and just a few miles from the Mammoth Mountain Resort. We would definitely stay there again. We didn't like that the spa did not open until 10 am.
I chose this motel because all the other condos I wanted to reserve were booked near the Village Mountain Center. It is walking distance, only about two blocks to the Center. We were given a room on the second level. There are no elevators of course so we had to lug our heavy bags up stairs. Was prepared for that. This is not a fancy hotel so the doors to the rooms are accessible to anyone. The bathroom appeared updated except for the sink that had grey cracks but still functional. Lots of electrical outlets. Arm chair was uncomfortable, worn in padded seat cushion. Has a mini refrigerator and microwave in the room. Continental breakfast, coffee and tea served in the common area next to the office in the mornings. Jacuzzi is tiny but at least they have one that works. Very steep hill that leads into their parking lot that was icy causing vehicles to slide-exit is less steep, which is around the connecting complex next door.
Location was great in between up town and down town. The spa was nice, extremely hot. Very affordable. The breakfast consisted of donuts bread and cereal and oatmeal. Mattress are definitely old and thin. We could feel the springs. Also the room is a tad bit tight as the wink and closet were make shift built into the room and the bathroom was extremely tight. Not to mention the shower head was at 4'-6" high. Breakfast was alright but not much variety.
Helpfulness of the staff, the continental breakfast, the fish cleaning facility, the convenient parking and the central location Can't think of anything
The rooms with enough living space The village was on the 'wrong' side of Yosemite, so not on the 'San Francisco' side, and you could hear all the walking of your upper neighbours while it is all from wood
The motel was dated, dark & full of bikers who left early the next morning 'very loudly'. It was OK as a one night stop over but not great. Room was dark, dated, cold during the night & we could hear anyone walking past during the night.
The room was large and spacious, this helped that we had the handicap room. The front desk was friendly and nice. Did not know if it was actually clean. The bathroom looked clean, but the blanket and pillow in the closet were thrown up ion the shelf and not folded which makes me wonder how well the clean job was from the staff. Needs a remodel and update
The location was great, but that's where this section ends No parking and the room was disgusting (I walked in to the ceiling dripping water that was far from clear). Definitely wait to stay here until a thorough remodel is completed
Big room with microwave and fridge. Big clean bathroom. Safetybox included in the price. Free parking. Internet(free) didn't work with our old laptop. View from the window wasn't that great.
Cheap, great location. We found a single edged razor blade on the floor near our sink... good thing we saw it and threw it away before either of us stepped on it.
super friendly staff and great location. units need some updating, however about what was expected for the low cost.
Quite a few amenities (microwave, refrigerator, breakfast) despite low cost. Very friendly manager.
Decor was appalling. Broken furniture, torn bedding. Cold shower, no ice. They don't even try. They are like the honey badger of hotels. They just don't give a f@#k.
very helpful staff located near Mammoth Brewery lobby where continental breakfast is served is very small, crowded
After booking somehow the condominium got over booked but Vicky over at the Mammoth Bureau took care of mi situation right away she sent 3 upgraded selections and the inconvenience was professionally dealt. The new place was so comfortable and beautiful. The condominium was gorgeous. The rooms were nice and big the only inconvenience was that the master bedroom didn't have a dresser the only furniture to put our clothes was 2 night stand , the closet was full of clothes and had a lock chest.
We stayed here (4 backpackers) the night before going out on a four day backpacking trip. The price for a single Saturday night was reasonable and only $10 to add additional guests, which was great. They even through in warm breakfast for us all, yum! They have an indoor heated pool and jacuzzi too. It's not fancy but was clean and the staff were friendly/professional. There could be more covered parking. There is only one parking voucher supplied per room but there isn't much they can do about that with the limited space. It would be nice to see a gate around the parking lot to prevent bear break-ins as well... Only seems logical and more secure too.
