nice quiet area. staff friendly. no pool or restaurant at hotel. breakfast very basic. beds & pillows too hard. only 1 english speaking channell on tv.
Very comfortable, clean hotel with good breakfast buffet.
The staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful. The breakfast was lovely with fresh coffees prepared to order Nothing - perfect
Great friendly staff Fair distance from town
modern hotel, rooms have comfortable large bed
Close to city center and a quite location. Easy to park
breakfast, cleanliness of room, staff thin walls
Hotel staff were very helpful and had good english. The room was bright, a good size and very clean. The breakfast was good. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the centre of Alghero and about 20 minutes to the beach. I like walking so this was not a problem but a car would be needed if you are staying for longer then a few days.
Quiet residential area, 12 minute walk to city center.
breakfast! bad wine (bottle open too long?) at the bar
Room was very nicely decorated and it was very happy feelings to be in it. The break fast was really really crap , only one type of cereal and one type of fruit, peprony, cheese and tomato for the breakfast, no english tea was available. Staff for the breakfast area was not frindly and very poor english. There is not enough Sun beds around the pool area, Air conditioning in the room was not very good , i had to keep the window open which was more cooler than aircon, my flight was very late in the evening and i had to leave my room at 12 as hotel staff told me that they were fully booked and i have to be puncual. But my wife and i we spend all time in the waiting room and did not see not even one person checked in, not only us there was one another couple from Ireland was in same situation.
Proximity to the beach, also within walking distance of old town. Very clean. Rooms, incl bathroom are small with no tea/coffee making facilities. Restaurant was closed.
mini refrigerator in the room. tv set in the room is very small, with limited programming choices. sat tv should be a must for this class of hotel. also a functional internet corner should be provided.
The attitude of the staff, particularly the reception desk. Super location. I have no reason to fault the San Marco hotel and have no difficulty in recommending it. Small complaint. When leaving I booked a taxi thorugh the reception. The (female) taxi driver charged €23 to the airport which I thought was very expensive. The hotel should not use this taxi service again.
location facing the beach it is really handy also the air-conditioning was good. It was called a two roomed apt but there was no door to seperate the rooms. My daughter was expected to sleep on a couch with springs sticking out. after much complaining they gave us a single bed.which was fine. we got a tiny balcony too small for two people
Nice room - cleanliness Menucard - not a gourmet-restaurant
Room and cleaning staff, breakfast, distance to attractions Pool not open, front-desk man rather rude
The excellent location-just across road from lovely beach and 10 minutes walk into old town or 10 minutes the other way to tree lined beach. The room looked out on unattractive residential area. There was an unpleasant odour from the bathroom consistently.
I liked the whole ambience of the hotel, the staff were very attentive and friendly, the rooms were very comfortable, and I thought the location of the hotel was great as it was right on the beachfront and a nice comfortable walk away from the main shopping and eating area of Alghero. We were upgraded from a Studio to a 1-Bedroom apartment at no extra charge which was a nice bonus. I had no negatives that I can think of about the Hotel.
The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpsome. The breakfast was not much but satisfactury. Otherwise the hotel was rather dull since it closed down for the season the day we left. This may have been the reason. Overall - the hotel was a OK experience. The bugs/mosquitos and the bed. The bed had only thin sheets as cover and we Scandinavians usually do not like this arrangement very much. But for a week it wasOK.
Great location, right by the beach, with a lovely walk to the old city. Very nice breakfast selection The heating/AC unit wasn't very effective with heating (off-season visit).
Beautiful, light and airy family room (with flat screen TV/Sky) with some of the friendliest staff we have come across. Hotel isnt pretty from the outside but is seconds from the beach and a 10 minute walk into the old town of Alghero. We would recommend this hotel and hope to stay again soon ourselves. Only small gripe, breakfasts are basic but fine.
very conveinient, about 15 min walk into town, excellent value for money. not really as you get what you pay for, it is not a 5 star hotel, but for ashort break it is ideal.
friendly staff; location of the hotel
Friendly and accommodating staff. Wonderful scenery within easy reach.Parking just outside the hotel ideal for my elderly mother. Nothing to do with the hotel but car hire via an internet link to Hertz was unsatisfactory due to the hidden cost of "extra" insurance. The hotel does provide a car hire service (although having payed a huge price I did not enquire as to the cost). People should be warned!
The hotel was clean and comfortable but not luxurious. The staff especially the reception staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. THe room was spacious with a pleasant shower room and balcony which just about had a view of the sea. The seafront was 30 metres away. Breakfasts were plentiful. Sky TV was available but sometimes unpredictable. Poor soundproofing between rooms.
Helpful staff spoke good English, walking distance to the town. Good for short stay.
the staff hospitality charge for motorcycle parking
The location was perfect, really close to the beach, few minutes walking to the city center. Silent. Room was really nice and confortable. Clean. TV (loats of chanels), climatisation working well. Everything seems to be renewed in the room. Nice furniture, hairdryer in bathroom. No seaside room, but it is not such a disadvantage, as the other seaside hotels might be really noisy during night (as there is a street between the sea and the hotels close to the sea),
very friendly and extremely helpful staff, with excellent english, right in the centre of town, and across from beach.easy walking distance from old city. the walls in the rooms are very thin!!!so you can hear everything going on in next room.
I liked the personell and the atmosphere. I felt the Italian hospitallity
Very nice family that runs the hotel. Helpful with everything. Short way to the beuatiful old town. You can walk there in 10-15 minutes. There are a beach very close to the hotel and it takes only 5 minutes to walk. You can take the local bus to the Maria Pia beach and it takes about 20 minutes. Very friendly people in Alghero. If you go here in August, when there is a lot of people, make sure that you book a car in advance if you want to hire one.
The staff of the hotel is very helpful
Excellent room with a spacious terrace and extremeley service minded staff. Calm and peaceful. Normal Italian breakfast.
the position was great. very dated hotel. needs a refub.
The hotel was perfect for our short break, we really enjoyed it!
The rooms were basic but clean and had no problems of any sort. Lovely rooftop terrace which could be used in better weather. Did not have time to use pool or other facilities.
The SPA department, the location, the corner-room we had with two windows and balcony. The breakfast, the bed and it was a bit overpriced.
the roof top terrace! it was fantastic!
Cleaning standards excellent - cleaning staff very friendly and thorough. Lady attending at breakfast very pleasant and attentive. View from room was stone wall and neighbouring cat screeching on a nightly basis. Staff did not properly inform us of beach location because of this we missed private beach and could not use changing facilities and showers at beach with language barrier it was difficult to locate on street.
central positioin, friendly helpful staff, sea facing balcony, air conditioning. Didnt agree with the bad reviews from other travellers. Breakfast and coffee poor but who chooses a hotel for its breakfast?
3 minute walk to Old Town. Modern Spa in Hotel. Lady in the Spa not suitably qualified. I suffered sunstroke from using the 'solarium'. It was set for 15 mins. It should by the hotels own recommendation be set at 8 mins. After 12 hours of sickness and severe pain I went to reception for water and some lotion for burns. She laughed at me. Then proceeded to charge me €20.80 for a very small tube of moisturiser. The cleaner was more concerned! And the male receptionist didn't even listen. He even charged me for the water. I was barely able to speak I was that sick. Very poor customer service, and I would go so far to say they were negligent. However this was the only negative experience I had.
breakfast on the terrace, top of hotel,it was glorious! hotel is very central. staff at hotel friendly and helpful.
Central location, balcony views, adequate breakfast No
The room service and cleaning was excellent. The hotel is probally the best in Algero. The rooftop bar is spectecular offering a view of the old town and bay. It is located opposite a park and within 3 mins walk to the bay and 5 mins to all the cafe bars and shopd. The bus to the airport is outside the hotel and only costs €1.oo. If you dont like Italian food Mc Donalds is three doors away from the Hotel. The continental breakfast was very good it had hot scrambelled eggs and toast as well as all types of cold cheeses, meats fruits, cereals, and sweet cakes the rolls and bread were lovely.Alghero is a great place for a quiet relaxing holiday not for teenage kids as there are no discos or loud pubs.Lovely cafe bars and winding streets. We stayed in the first week in November. This was out of season and the hotel restaurant was closed. Also the rooftop bar in the hotel closes at ten pm monday to Friday and 11pm at weekends.Looking at the phots of the hotel I thought there was a balcony in the rooms there is not. The only outdoor area is the sliding glass partition on the rooftop bar. In the summer there is no place in the hotel to sit outside. There is no swimming pool but that seems to be the case for most hotels in Sardinia.
In centre. Car Parking. Ease to find. Breakfast good.
Location was excellent!
Very central with excellent views. The floor I was on [7th.] had very impressive views of the bay. Breakfast was taken on the top floor [but only because the dining room was being redecorated] That was great! don't change this idea. A pool would be welcome expecially after a day's sightseeing.
The location is perfect, staff is friendly and the rooms are very clean. The views, the skybar and the breakfast are the selling points of this hotel. I was however disappointed with the room as from the pictures you expect something really spacious and luxurious and it was actually quite plain and small. I also expected a balcony, but we got a room with 2 small windows instead. We did have the nice view, but it didn't really meet up to my expectation after seeing the grand pictures online.
Location very close to lungomare and airport only 15 min drive Staff was not helpfull and not friendly. We arrived late saturday evening, o parking space available (hotel has no parking, even though this is a 4 star hotel) I have never had so bad value for money.
location to centre of town Breakfast Staff unfrienly
room was comfortable
Breakfast was great, and location was very good also, staff where very helpful also. None at all.
Perfect cituated with a wonderful view. The room smelled bad, probably due to the drain wich seemed to not work correctly.
Hotel was great. Very clean. Helpful, friendly staff.
The helpful, friendly attitude of the staff in a small, clean hotel set in a central yet peaceful location. The shower was very cramped.
Lovely setting (pool-side; cafe garden) and location great for beach The breakfast was ok but not great. (Bread / juice not very fresh).
The friendlieness and helpfulness of the mangement and staff of the hotel, and the quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Not applicable. Nothing I disliked about hotel.
The hotel was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was woefully bad. The coffee defies description. The facilites and upkeep were not what you'd expect. I expected better.
We had a good room with a balcony and good views overlooking the sea with the town in the distance. The pool was beautiful and not too crowded. We were not given a breakdown of the bill and were surpised as ithe cost was higher than we had been quoted by Booking.com. We had handed over our paperwork at the beginning of the holiday with our passports and it was not returned so we were not in a position to query it.
Nice pool close to the beach short walk to old town Overpriced Room facilities very basic
Near the boulevard and within walking distance (20 min) of the old town Staff lacks of energy and good mood
It's in a great location- just a couple of minutes from the beach and only 20 minutes walk along a nice promenade to reach the old town. It was always clean and tidy and the staff very friendly. It's particularly useful if you're English as the landlady is English and suggested to us lovely places to visit. They even have novels there you can read! No
Perfect location - close to the beach (1 min) and 15 min walking to the city centre.A lots of good restaurants ans pubs around.Very clean hotel - it's not modern fashion hotel but the cleanest one that I've ever been. Air conditioning.Very nice swimming pool in the garden Great staff, really friendly and helpful (speak English very well)
the whole experience was wonderful, the staff were very friendly and the location is idyllic
Beautiful hotel; perfect location; friendly staff
This is an outstanding hotel, that is secluded and with friendly and helpful staff. The beds were extremely comfortable. At the height of the tourist season, this was like an oasis in a very busy seaside resort and we could relax and enjoy the pool and the sea in peace and comfort. There was a lack of information about facilities (such as a day changing and shower area outside) and brochures for outside activities.....the only very minor quibble!
We thought it was wonderful, a real treat. The food was excellent and staff extremely courteous and helpful. The bedrooms where kept spotless. Ideal for us both. Whether swimming in the sea or pool, or using the free bicyles. Easy to walk into the main part of the town. The only small criticism was the contrast in 'luxury' of the concrete areas where one is able to swim in the sea. Perhaps more could be done to improve this area - it seemed very crude in comparison to the wonderful gardens. Also the indoor pool didn't appear to be available whilst we were there - which wasn't a problem of course as the weather was good.
the staff were very good, the relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, the grounds were fab. The bed was extremley hard it would be the only thing that would put me off going back.
Great location, five minutes walk to the town. The pools were amazing & the rooms were quiet. Ideal for relaxing.
the hotel setting a beautiful private beach and location
The hotel was very comfortable, staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Alles mattress slightly to hard
Location was amazing. It felt secluded perched on its promentory but was very accessible for the old town of Alghero - just a 10 minute stroll to all amenities. The view from the pool and sun terrace was enchanting and we were lucky enough to see dolphins at play in the sunset on our last night (from the hotel terrace). Service and attention to detail was first class and staff could not have been more helpful. The whole place had a feeling of old-fashioned ambience and style. We will be back!
Hotel is in a very good location within walking distance to the Old Town. Staff were very helpful with suggestions during our stay. Nothing of note.
The freindliness of most of the staff. That is worth more than other factors considered in a hotel The bed is more rigid than I would prefer, but that is a personal preference.
Breakfast, location and parking Dinner was just ok
Nice short break , The staff were friendly and very helpfull, Good location just 10 minutes walk to the old town. Rooms were kept very clean We Stayed for 3 nights and the cost was about 900 Euro's, Very dissapointed in the Hotel in relation to value for money.
Nice bedroom and a good breakfast Prices for everything else, e.g. drinks, food, minibar was completely unreasonable and prohibitive
Room was really spacious, modern and bed was huge!!! room and hotel very clean and service very professional. hotel is very close to old town which is very important after massive seafood dinner in one of great restaurants:) we really enjoyed our stay!! bar could be open late night:))
The hotel is very nice, comfortable, with a good design, overlooking the sea. Rooms are big and comfortable. Good sound isolation in the rooms. The hotel should not be rated as a 5 star! This is no more than a 4 star hotel. The air conditioner can be switched off only by the staff, you cant ajust it in the room. No complimentary (even) water at arrival. Breakfast is a complete disaster: the choice is limited up to eggs and bacon. The nearest beach is 5 km from the hotel. Some of the staff is very nice and helpfull, some is not even saying "hello".
Beautiful uninterrupted sea views from room and one of the best restaurant views in Alghero Rooms are a bit dated, bathrooms small and expensive for what it was (€340 per night) but then again Alghero in top season is.
The staff was friendly and helpful, the room comfortable, and the view stunning. Very nice breakfast with good service, too.
it"s not 4 star hotel/
the proximity to the beach was fantastic, the pool was great also, the room kept very clean the room was a little small for a twin room and the air conditioning needs upgrade
Staff were pleasant and friendly. Hotel was clean. There was no fridge in the room or bath in the en-suite. Mosquitoes were a significant problem.
The hotel is nicely situated near the beach just upside the beach street. I think the buffet breakfast was a bit too "thin" - I would reccomend a bit more continental style.
Most of all I liked the location of the hotel which was directly opposite the beach and just 15 minutes walk to the old town. Suggest the hotel has a shelf as a mini library so that guests may leave or borrow books free of charge.
All staff always helpful and friendly. No difficulty finding sunbeds. Water in pool not too cold. Air-con in bedroom good. Some elements of breakfast : Boiled eggs were underboiled, whites of them not cooked enough. The option of totally hard-boiled eggs as well would have been nice. No British sausages available, just frankfurter types. Would have liked to have a refrigerator in bedroom.
I liked the swimming pool area. We had a room with a sea view and the view was excellent. Location excellent and a lovely walk into the old town. The breakfast was very basic and the dining not very enticing. Would recommend this hotel with some reservations.
The staff were courteous. The room was and the hotel were very clean. It was across the beach and a 15 minute walk to the city center so it was an ideal location. There was a pool, a restaurant, and a bar in the hotel. AC cost an extra 6 Euro per day. The checkout was very early at 10 am and the staff refused to extend that even by one hour. The beach across the hotel is not the nicest and cleanest of the beaches in the area. The breakfast is basic and mainly includes pastries, cereal, and boiled eggs and could use more variety.
The location was good a lack of any english language tv at all in the room, though it was satellite tv. The entire area had a disagreeable aroma. The prices of drinks and coffees are rather expensive.
Nicely situated, serviceminded staff, excellent swimming pool, clean rooms Rooms a bit too small, only one chair for sitting
Quiteness. Good service.
Friendly staff and a clean well presented hotel on the outskirts of Alghero. Great value for money.
Friendly and helpful staff. The temperature in the room was nice. The fridge was extreamly old and rusty, and didn`t work well. The TV didn`t work. Not what I would call a 4 star hotel.
Pool was a Good Size. The Hotel offered a very competitive rate compared to other Hotels in the area. The staff were quite cold and not welcoming. There was no ability to order food at all save for the set breakfast, lunch and dinner times. The Bathroom shower needed replacing and the hotel was in need of a general refurbishment.
Hotel staff is friendly and helpfull, Thanks for the nice hospitelty
Extremely dirty. Not worth price/star category
The hotel is located far from down-town, and was very expensive for what it has to offer. It say it is a 4 star hotel, but I stayed in a 3 star hotel with more and better services, for less money.
It had a swimming pool although this appeared to be undergoing building works during our stay.
Clean quite hotel Restaurant open only for 1 hour for evening meal.
The room was clean, spacious and light, with a clean and functional bathroom. Welcome was warm; check-in was very efficient. Breakfast was good. Enough car parking; some on the hotel grounds. The room had no decoration and felt cold. Bedding was insufficient for the time of the year, with pillows of bad quality. Television was not working. We were surprised that the rooms are in a different building (with poor insulation between rooms) than the facitlities (breakfast, pool). Pool has limited opening times for hotel guests.
Nice hotel, at a nice location in a nice city, Lack of possibilities for hanging up beach towels etc in bathroom
The bar and the restaurant The rooms lacked soundproofing (noise attenuation) so snoring, noise, and voices from above, beside, and outside were very annoying
Good location and good breakfast buffet included in the price of the room. Hot drinks for breakfast were pretty bad. They should really think of getting a new machine. If you want to use the fridge in the room, they will charge you 15 Euros/week. I understand that the fridge is part of the minibar and not for personal use, however it goes without saying that everybody uses it now and then (not a big deal) Putting this sign in the room about the rental price of the fridge does not give a good impresion.
Nice, helpful staff, good location breakfast until 9.00 am
it was clean and nice, closed to the beach
the staff were friendly. the location was amazing! one minute from the beach and a lovely 20 min walk along the beach to the old town! good restaurants around aswell and all food in hotel was good. needing to wear swimming hats in pool, and pool busy so maybe they could do with a few more sunbeds. Also on arrival we had 2 twin beds the first night but the next day they were converted into one double.
Very comfortable, breakfast excellent lots of choices. Dinner menu was very good.
The staff at the reception. In general everything was ok, and the price was according the service you get. I was at the hotel at the end of October and it was cold during the nights. I miss a better heating system, it was not working properly. I also agree with previous comments about the four stars are too much for this hotel.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. A little bit plain to be a four stars hotel.
very nice staff very friendly and helpful.good location and good food Wi-fi is available just in public areas and you need to pay for it.
The king-size bed was comfortable. The balcony was nice, as were the communal areas - the open quadrangle inside the hotel and the lounge, in particular, the latter being well air-conditioned and peaceful. The restaurant service was pleasant and efficient. It was disappointing not to have a small fridge in the room to keep beer cold! Also, my wife complained about the absence of a hair dryer. I didn't mind the fact that there were no sandy beaches near the hotel, but it was a nuisance having to harzardously clamber over rocks and coral to reach a depth where it was safe to swim in the sea.
Close proximity to Alghero Old Town and sea front. Hb catering adequate and varied. Slightly dated but very clean and staff very courteous.
It was in a nice part of town, on the waterfront, the staff were helpful and spoke good English, the room was quite spacious and spotless. Served a good breakfast. Had free internet access
The very friendly and well englishspeaking employee at hotel. Also the breakfast was fine. The surroundings at the hotel were fine so we used the front yard to sit, read and enjoy our own wine. We were situated in the back of the hotel and the view from the room were a small backyard! We had a doubble room, but there were an extra bed in the room all the time, so the small but okay room were very small!
Hotel El Balear has a very nice location and we were lucky to get a room with a wonderful seaside view and a fab balcony – room 67 if you wonder. The Hotel is clean and well kept, but could need a bit of refurbishment. Good service at the reception and good housecleaning. The Hotel could need a bit of refurbishment; it looks a bit worn here and there. Your room door will shutter when the doors to the other rooms at your floor is shut and you will hear all other patrons leave to get the 06.00 flight to Rome. One morning there was a dreadful smell in the bathroom, I guess the pipes were dry and the sewer made the smell. A bit hard beds and pillows..
The room was clean, the bed was good. All balconies were missing tables - strange!
Very friendly and helpful staff, good location and position overlooking the sea with nice outside seating. It looked much nicer than on the website! Reasonable price, fairly basic rooms but everything was clean. Breakfast for an extra 6e was substantial.
Clean and tidy,pleasant surroundings,very helpful staff N/A
Fantastic view to the see and Capo Caccia from the balcony.
We had a double-room with a great balcony towards the mediterranean sea. That was great and very nice in the evening. Coices at the breakfast buffet were good. The shower cabine was a little bit too small.
it is near the beach the bed linen wasnt changed the whole week we were there.
good staff aircon heating a bit erratic.
It was relaxed and nicely located. The personel was friendly
the staff and price it was a little noisy but there was 16 girls with us
the staff were vey friendly the room was very clean and comfortable did not dislike anything about the hotel but wish there was more of a variety for breakfast
It was very reasonable and was just what we were looking for Only thing would say was that it was a bit far out from town but not a major problem
Friendly staff; large and clean room; good variety for breakfast (we only stayed here overnight); quiet area; 30mins walking distance to 'Centro Storico' and very close to beach!
Friendly staff but did not speak much English. Nice breakfast. We did not have our room cleaned every day and the toilet rolls were not replaced. The reception was closed part of the day.
close to the lido beach
very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff
great location (next to the old city center, supermarket, park, beach, restaurants, all around the corner), nice owners, very clean and good furnished apartment from the apartment balcony no view at all (only from the roof terrace)
Aurasol is actually a number of separate self-catering apartments with cooking facilities which means you can cook your own meals if you want to. Eating out every night can be expensive ! Breakfast is simple ie a number of pre-packed breads and cakes left in a basket, but a large supply of jams, milk, coffee and tea are also provided.
It was nice to have the terasse. The landlord was very friendly, although it was difficult to communicate in english. The quality of breakfast was low.......only sweet bread, and very little..
Nice appartment ,in the center of the city. Parking outside the house in the street.. Nice terasse on the top of the house. Breakfaste is simple. Went to the supermarceto around the corner and bought ingredients there.
Excelent location - quiet place near to the Old city and main bus stop. The nearest beach is good 15 min away, however, the disposition of Alghero is that you can't be near the Old city and the beach at the same time. Apartments are recently opened, so everything is new and in good condition, a lot of cutlery, etc. Close to two supermarkets. No cleaning at all, just change of towels. Well, to be more precise, there was a possibility to order a cleaning for extra EUR 20. Perhaps it is not a problem for few days staying, however, for 12 days.... No reception, no staff, if you need anything, call the owner.
Apartments are brand-new, well equiped, spacious with a balcony. Owner was very friendly. noisy street under the balcony, but
Great place with good aparments and a very nice roof terace. Perfect location, close to the old town and the seafront
Close to the old town! Only 3 minutes walking. No reseption (only apartments), but the sweetest woman helping us on arrival day. You can call her whenever needed. Breakfast in the room, but that is OK since there is a sofa and kitchen table. Cheap! Good value for money if you do not need luxury. Book it :)
This apartment was very convenient to the Centro Istorico of Alghero. The owner was very helpful and had supplied all the basic necessities for a few days stay. No
Aurasol Alghero appartments are located nicely just in the middle of the Algero town. It's located within minutes walking to the old town of Alghero, where all the little shops and absolutely amazing restaurants, just beside the tour bus stop and marina. Location is great just in the middle of everything and yet it was very queit place. Appartent was very clean, good size double debroom, absolutely new bathroom, fully equipt kitchen (glasses, mugs, pots, frying pans, microwave, sugar, tea, coffee etc) big plazma TV on the wall, balcony. It was really enjoyable, appartment was absolutelly perfect!
