The atmosphere and ambience of the Hotel. Also it's location was very good.
Hotel was helpfull as your reservation was not made and they had to book me in on arrival, luckily they had a room spare
Easily accessible by road. Good clear directions. Very conveniently situated for the old part of the town. Maritim is a typical medium sized international hotel. Solid, reliable performance. A double bed should be a double bed and not two singles pushed together, but you dont tend to find this in Germany
Great view of the river and Marienberg.
Quite room in a quite town. Excellent breakfast Stairs between garage and elevator. Breakfast not included in room price.
very friendly and helpful staff; good parking facilities at the public parking underneath the hotel; comfortable room. I severely missed a bar of soap in the bathroom. I hate these sticky body and shower gels! Any hotel in this category should provide a bar of soap as part of the standard facilities.
The pool was excellent The choice in the restaurant was very disappointing and only 1 of the 2 restaurants appeared to be open!
Conveniece to old city centre and pool/spa are best featrures. Garage not well sign-posted inside and cramped.
The receptionist was very helpful The car parkling facilities are bnot ideal and information about them in advance of arrival was not good.
Ability to park the car and within walking distance to the town. We were given a room on the 7th floor which was not accessible by lift - had to carry two heavy bags. Facilities such as internet are not free.
Very comfort, quiet and friendly staff. Some staff didn't speak English. Of course it should not be a problem, but if they could speak English it would be nicer.
Helpful staff , Good location , Clean .
The room was small but clean and comfortable. We were on the street side of the hotel and with the windows open the noise was loud, but with the double windows closed it was quiet. It was not hot when we were there, so closing the windows didn't bother us. The hotel is walking distance to all of the sights in old town. The location was great and there is on-sight parking.
Very helpful friendly reception staff who spoke good English Beds were not very comfortable and breaffast choices were a bit limited
Ideal position in city centre. Helpful staff. Not really
Central position The room was very small and with old forniture. The bathroom was awful and with no windows or not even a ventilator. In the reception was permanently a bad stink of smoke!! No english channel on tv. We paid 85 € per night + 9 extra for the car parking per day. I would never come there again.
Close to city centre It is necessary to go up a small stair to reach the lift, which is not really convenient if you have heavy suitcases.
Professional staff, very helpful, well presented Room decor was dated and had a "worn" feeling
Good central location with parking (via elevator).
centraly located, garage on the premises all in walking distance the room was very small, shower close to bed
very helpful and friendly staff, good location, traditional gasthof.
This hotel is in a great location and is convenient to all of the historical sites in Wurzburg. The breakfast was superb with a large variety of items. The configuration is a little odd in that the check-in is in the restaurant. All of the rooms are behind an iron gate that is always locked because there is no front desk. There is a bar directly across the street and the clientele would stand outside and talk until the late hours. Our room faced the street and the noise was noticable.
Well situated for walking to main sight-seeing locations. None
friendly staff willing to help out when possible. good english which is good for us. the antique atmosphere of the dining room .
The staff are very nice, friendly and helpful. The staff introduced comprehensive toursit information of Wurzburg and recommended some nicve restaurants to us. None
Courteous reception and excellent breakfast
The owner and her son and staff were nice and helpful. The room was clean although old and worn with stained and worn towels and carpet. Very basic accomodations similar to a Motel 6 here in the states. The breakfast had many open containers that all shared (like large containers of jam instead of individual packets) and some items did not seem fresh. No internet unless you borrowed the owners personal laptop.
Starr were friendly, the room was clean and the breakfast in the morning was wonderful. We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Stadt Mainz.
Only the gentleman who served at breakfast. He was very kind. The price was too much for the hotel. The price could only be 60 Euros for that kind of a gasthouse. It was a huge dissappointment for us.
The Breakfast is amazing with lots of choices, and the service of the provider is very nice as well. THe corridor is too dark
the staff was very accomodating...we hit the German heat wave in July 2010 and no air conditioning was an issue. The rooms are not spacious but they were very clean. The street noise could keep you awake if you are there on a weekend night. The breakfast was plentiful and wonderful. The lack of air conditioning was an issue with the unusual heat wave that hit during our trip.
Room was well decorated and clean, and close to restaurants and bars in the town. Breakfast was good and staff helpful and polite. Hotel is only at best a 2 star. The hotel is overpriced and poor on facilities. Firstly, you cannot drive close to the hotel door. You have to stop across 2 tramlines and carry you luggage over the lines. Secondly, there is no lift and we had to carry our own suitcases up 6 flights of 10 stairs to the 3rd floor. Thirdly, on 3 days, there were 3 different sets of staff and the Reception was closed from 2000hrs to 0700hrs next morning each day and from 1200hrs all day on Sunday...not good if you had a problem. Fourthly, the free Wi-fi we could not received on the 3rd or 4th floors and had to sit on the steps outside the closed reception area to access the internet. Lastly, the room was so hot we had to open the windows at night but had alot of noise from all night trams.
The location was excellent. The appearance and ambiance were charming. The staff was extremely helpful and gracious.
The staff were very helpful and the breakfast excellent It is in need of an upgrade in decor
We are a group of 6 tennis friends aged 60 to 77. This was a first hostel experience for each of us. The 6-bed ensuite room was great fun. We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and comfort. The location is ideal for those arriving by train.
This was a great value, convenient to the RR station and city center. The refrigerator looks dirty with all the writing all over it.
Easy to find
Tidy; Kitchen facility is good
good location double room feels like bathroom -_-
It was close enough to sites and parking was free. Parking areas were quite far from the hostel...NOT Convenient, at all.
Cleaness, location, staff
The quality for the money. These are hard times, it is nice to have a place to stay with a bathroom, that is not expensive! A little bit hard to find when arriving by car!
Newly-redone building. Room very quiet despite great location just accross from railway station. There is no television (which I wouldn't have watched anyway), and you put the sheets on yourself and return them to the reception in the morning, but if these aspects can keep the price down, no problem. Fixtures in bathroom were solid, clean, new and work right, which is often not the case at hotels in this price range. They accept only cash.
Quite expensive considering it's a hostel and comparing it with other places we have stayed in, not up to the same standard. Also very noisy with other families talking in echoing corridors early in the morning.
Room is big, and location is good. The bathroom is too small.
Modern feel and cleanliness. Rooms have good size and nice views of town. Very good breakfast. I had 2 kids and in the room and the extra beds are small.
Clean appartment, although somewhat small. Good parking available and a short distance from the city centre. No-one from the hotel was ever available during our stay. Any contact had to be by our mobile phone (additional cost). Although we arranged for someone to be at the hotel for us to pay, they never turned up and we had to agree to leave cash in the room. Although the information when booking stated credit cards were accepted, this turned out to mean a bank transfer when we returned home. not a satisfactory way of dealing with clients.
Friendly staff. Rooms well heated and plenty of hot water. Highly recommended.
Clean, comfortable bed with nice cotton sheets. Clean shower, reasonable size. Reasonable provision of cutlery and crockery. Seemed to be a maid service as the bin was emptied every day. The fact that our booking code was wrong; we were given a different room from the one we actually booked, and we had to telephone to sort out as there is no-one based at the ApartHotel. The room was a lot smaller than expected, no headboard and a gap between bed and wall because of the cupboard arrangement so could not sit up comfortably in the bed. Very little room to sit around the table and no oven facility, toaster or microwave which for something called an 'apartment' with cooking faciliites should have had.
Appart hotel is a good but enjoyable walk to the sites. It is on a fairly quiet street. There may or may not be any staff at the hotel but a key is available in a safe box with code provided after making reservation. The hotel is very pleasant and clean. The woman attempts to help as much as possible. We had a sitting area with tv and two separate bedrooms, which was very enjoyable.
Nice entrance, and well maintained. No staff to be seen. You need a code to obtain a key - needless to say, we had no code. Neither the call pad nor the emergency number produced a response! Had to phone the number on the booking form to get the key. Payment was meant to be by direct means to their bank account - at a cost of £25 from a British bank. Eventually they took it from my Visa card.
When we arrived at the Appart Hotel and found we had no reservation we phoned the help line number and spoke to Karmen at the Frankenhof. Her English was very good and she guided us to the Frankenhof, even phoning us to see where we were after we had lost our way. She gave us a nice room, and the breakfasts were superb, recommended good restaurants nearby and gave us helpful info about transport into the city. We feel we were very lucky that Karmen was on duty when we phoned because none of the other receptionists we met could speak any English at all.
The quiet street the hotel was on.
Convenient, reasonably priced, friendly staff, good breakfast There was a pervasive smell in the halls and stairsways, like from a kitchen or butchershop. I could also smell that somebody had smoked in my room at one time. Internet connection via code was often very difficult and unstable. I needed a gentleman in the hotel to help me out, one night I could not get on the Internet at all. Also I though free Internet service was announced but it was limited to five hours (admittedly when I need a new code, I got it). The Internect connection is my main complaint about this hotel.
near to the railway station
Good location, good hearted staff!!
Reception was friendly and competent. Room was large and clean with very comfortable beds and bedding. Good breakfast buffet. It was an easy 10 minute walk from the train station and close to Wuerzburg's shopping, market square, cathedral, city hall and Residenz Palace. It was just a little more expensive than I would have expected.
Staff were very helpful I requested a non-smoking room. The small of cigarette smoke was very strong (to me) and the room had obviously been used by smokers prior to my visit. I would strongly recommend that the hotel keep smoking and non- smoking rooms separate. This is why I marked "Cleanliness of the room" as only fair.
vy present stay with a bright room facing the church. location is great, like a 5mins walk from both train station and the old district. nice breakfast, free wifi, spacious room and essential amenities all score points for it no elevator!
The hotel was close to the station and the centre of town.
A warm welocme and treated efficiently No provision made for my wife's gluten-free and lactose-free diet
The staff were unable to speak english but they were very helpful and friendly. We had motorcycles and the receptionist moved her car from a garage so that we could have secure parking. The rooms were clean and modern
Extremely helpful English-speaking receptionist. She rang me straight after my booking to offer explanations. The non-English speaking lady was most polite as well and perfectly achieved whatever communication was necessary. Reasonable distance from Wurzburg train station (8 EUR by taxi). Bus goes every 20 minutes. The room door was very heavy and closed loudly, unless held very carefully. Beware of your toes - I hurt mine and that was very painful (though not serious).
The staff was very cordial. Our room was well appointed and clean.
Very clean and calm and close to the city centre,
It was good hotel, exelent brekfast, clean room, friendly staff To far away from City center, need car
Stayed one night during travel No
Les places de parking disponibles devant l'hôtel. Le calme, le rapport prix qualité très avantageux et la proximité des accès d'autoroutes. Il n'y a pas de restaurant à l'intérieur de l'hôtel.
Location excellent. Quiet and beautiful view of the castel across the river cannot think of anything negative
the view from window
Friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast buffet. Needs updating. No internet connection was available.
The room was very small as was the bathroom and shower
Town within metres , views fantastic. Staff friendly and hotel was recommended to us. Overall hotel was clean and well presented. Bathroom had unfortunate smell of rotten eggs , poor plumbing or other reasons not sure. This spoiled our overnight stay and was reported at check out . Room was small and located in the roof space and quite hot . Air con was very poor.
First visit to the hotel, but many visits to W. Should have found it earlier. Very well located with view on castle (my room). Friendly atmosphere and nicely old fashion. hav
The location was very, very good. Surrounding views will be even better when road construction in front of hotel is finished. Hotel owner went out of his way to give us the rooms with the best views. Breakfast buffet was extremely nice and dinner at hotel restaurant was also excellent. All of the staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. Something better must be done about the parking garages provided by the hotel. To say the parking provided for our 5 series BMW was tight is the understatement of the century. The staff was sympathetic to this shortcoming.
Comfortable room, very helpful staff. The restaurant is almost more upscale than the hotel itself. Next time, I would ask for a room with a view of the Marienberg Fortress.
A very smart well located hotel. Breakfast was excellent and the reception staff extremely helpful with perfect English. Free internet available at reception too!
Very comfortable room, close to historic old town. It is right on the river and a nice town to visit. Staff very friendly and helpful.
The spacious room, the balcony in the room, the view, the free internet station and the quirkiness of the hotel When we arrived we were told breakfast was included. I was pleasantly surprised as it was not stated on our booking. When we checking out a different staff member insisted on charging us for breakfast. We felt misled. The toilet was not clean and some fixtures and furnishings were just not quite right. e.g. dip in the matress.
If you have a car, the location is excellent - just above town, 5 minutes drive from the center, and no problem finding the way. Rooms are big (huge bath). They are dog friendly - always important! Breakfast could include few fresh ingridients (vegetables, fruits). There are rooms which are directly at the parking level - It can be very comfartable if you have a lot of equipment (just park outside your own door), but if you don't - you have the guest car view instead of fresh wind.
The food was excellent and price reasonable Even I have written the cleaning of the room was good, they should take a look at the small places where dust can hide, e.g. on the hair dryer :-)
Located in the vignards, good breakfast buffet Parking not easy and too small
The Italian Buffet held on Saturday evening was excellent and good value for money.
Great position close to the castle. We spent a day sightseeing and had no need of the car. We walked down to the city for our evening meal, too and that was easy. The hotel has building work ongoing that is taking a long time. We saw a review that mentioned it from last year and thought it would be finished but they are a long way off. Meanwhile, some facilities like the beer garden are not available.
Its situation, welcoming reception staff, ambience and good restaurant. Poor waitress service second night - a pity since the first night was excellent.
scenic view, staff renewal hotel / restaurant food
They were rebuilding the hotel. We were not informed about this. Not amusing after being in the car for 8 hours...
I felt there like in a place in which I have already stayed. I cannot explain this as I was for the first time in this hotel. I like the comfort and the cleanliness of the rooms, I also like that I had a table good to be used for my laptop. No.
A very comfortable Hotel, and althought it was a particualarly busy day for them, the staff were exceedingly helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
Within easy reach of Wurzberg centre; staff kindly advised on trams so we could take in the Christmas markets. Restaurant within the hotel is excellent and is obviously favoured by local people, in itself a test. Parking out front easy, safe and cost free.
Welcoming and informative. Very quiet. Good breakfast.
Friendly and helpful
Clean, Friendly owner. Kitchen was closed on Sunday and Monday, the only two nights of our stay.
the owner new about gluten free diat and organized a very nice dinner for me:-)
Fabelous atmosphere and delicious food and super breakfast No points
Good location - quiet at the edge of town yet easy access to old town by tram - free parking
Parking place close to the hotel, always available parking places at any time of day or night. Spacious room. Large wardrobe. Quite. Ventilator in the bathroom was not enough, and very noisy (smell from bathroom was felt in the room). The room was somewhat damp.
Staff friendly assistance
very nice and clean room-staff friendly
It was comfortable and the lady at the desk was excellent. Very helpful and accommodating during our short stay. Really appreciate her assistance. Just a little hard to locate, but once there very good location.
We asked for and received a room with a view of the river which was just great. Location is very close to the main pedestrian bridge across the river and easy access to all of the sights of the old town. Lady at reception when we checked in was very helpful and made suggestions of the best things to go and see during our short time in Wurzburg. It is great that the hotel had a garage to park the car in during our stay, but the garage itself is very small. We had a small hire car which only just fit in. Anything larger might not so check with the hotel first before booking.
The room was just as I had requested: large, large bed, quiet, view of the river and castle, elevator. The breakfast room had the river & castle view and was enchanting. We could park our car in the hotel parking garage as requested in advance. The manager assisted us in all our requests. We highly recommend this hotel.
The breakfast is good.
A wonderful hotel location with rooms looking across the river towards the castle within a charming town. Wurzburg makes an excelllent gateway into Germany and I am sure we will go back to the Hotel Alter Kranen next trip.
The location was great, parking across the street, great buffet breakfast and large, clean room, very comfortable. Friendly staff!
The location is excellent and we had a view over the river and the old bridge which added to this hotel,s charm. The Staff are friendly and helpful. Nothing
Nice cozy hotel with very friendly staff that tried to accommodate all our needs. Despite of expectations, the room was quite large and very clean. Excellent location. Great experience breakfast selection was limited and the room rate was higher than at other comparable hotels.
Good location, very close to all tourist spots and train station in Wuzburg. The bed for single is still small for a "Medium size" Asian.
the room was clean and big, the bath was big as well, no AC, but it wasn't too hot. The location is great, a walk from the center. the only problem was that there is no parking, but we found a parking space just infront of the hotel, 1 euro per hour, free from 19:00 till 9:00 the next day. No AC, no parking
The friendliness of the hotel people and general atomosphere of the hotel including the location.
Location is great to sightsee from. The staff were helpful. For dinner we highly reccomend the "Trattoria Lugana" across the street for dinner it was outstanding and a great value.
The Room was very comfortable. The Staff was very friendly.
Staff was very helpful.
Interesting decor, good price Room was next to stairway and was therefore a bit noisy. Also, the evening/night receptionist seemed to have some difficulty with English, but not too bad. The hotel location is a bit of a long walk from the train station and also from the main attractions, not as close by as we had initially thought.
A very nice hotel sitauted in a wonderful city. The place is too noisy and the luck of some electronical devices (refrigerator, coffee machine) make it not so attractive.
Location to Christmas Markets 20" between lavetory and stool. Small shower. Poor directions to parking garage..
Comfortable, staff was wonderful, could speak English The showers are very, very small. Not even enough room to wash yourself. They need to expand the curtains at least.
Location, good breakfast, friendly staff, stayed there twenty years ago and it was still the same comfortable quality hotel Our room was not equiped with an enclosed shower, not even a curtain so it was difficult to take a shower that we prefer. Our traveling companions, however had a shower.
Janet and her staff! Again, the rooms were smaller than described.
Breakfast is fine. The location is very nict to visit to the town. No elevetor. Nobody helped to bring the luggages to the room. Internet was not available.
Very convenient for town centre Towels were very hard and we had to ask for them - there was only one in the room when we arrived. Soap provision very basic.
Walk around town, close to everything. Our rear facing room was very quiet. Being elderly, with heavy luggage, we did not anticipate the lack of an elevator....
The stay satisfird out needs.
friendliness of staff steep stairs, handrails need cleaning
Quick tour of Wurzburg. Noise from street.
no telephone, did not receive a smoking room as requested, had to ask to have the room made up,no elevator and lots of stairs, hotel like a self serve afair difficult to find any personnel, room so small there was no room to even put up the suitcase, space beside the bed and wall aprox. one foot.
Nice and polite service. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. There is a biiig problem with parking place !
Beautiful hotel, excellent breakfast. Very quiet, clean and wonderful location.
Loved the location & the old world charm of the hotel. Very large room. breakfast was the best we've come across in Germany
Clean room, very comfortable, great location! Breakfast seemed a bit pricey
I liked the friendly people and the location of the hotel. Nothing at all - I will stay again at the hotel.
Very nice room.
Wonderful breakfast, very helpful staff, charmingly decorated historic hotel. The location was great for getting to all the sights. Hotel is right next to a major tram stop and bus depot. We were very impressed that with the windows closed it was very quiet. But, our room was a bit warm and when we cracked open the windows the noise was so disruptive that we could not sleep. Our choice of either quiet and too warm or cool and noisy was not a good one. Would definitely be a major problem in the summer.
Breakfasts were top notch, staff was friendly TV could have had a few more channels but with Wuertzburg to visit, TV was not important. All in all, I would gladly return to this hotel.
Attentive friendly staff with excellent English and commitment to hotel.Wonderful quirky decor and very good breakfasts. Hotel has been family business for about 100 years and it shows with lots of wonderful if over the top decorative touches. Information sheet issued to direct me to parking garage was inaccurate. Another guest had to put me right. Receptionist pointed out photos on her desk which identified the buildings along the route. Garage itself was fine. Room design was odd with door to bathroom alongside bed with external light switch so that using toilet in middle of night meant that one inevitably shone light on partner.
The suite was amazing - beyond anything I have experienced in Germany. The overall ambience of the hotel was extrodinary. The manager and his wife have created a home like atmosphere that is unequaled. I will definitely be back and will recommend to all.
Very quiet (the room opened into the inner "yard"). They advertised offering WLAN, but don't mention you need to buy the access from an external provider (T-mobile) and that it costs 8 eur / hour... So technically the advertisement is correct -- the hotel doesn't charge you for using their WLAN access point -- but compared to many other hotels, it's easy to assume that also the internet access if free, which it's not.
Location is very convenient. Breakfast is good. Staff are helpful.
very close to the train station did not direct to internet cafe. I do not carry notebook
Location. And a restaurant under the same roof is good for a rainy day.
Excellent location. Noisy room.
good location. One of the desk clerks was very helpful with directions. Advertised in room internet but it was down for one of two days.
Friendly staff, good location, unpretentious
Excellent and courteous owner/staff. She was very helpful.
helpful staff noisy at night but hot if open window.
Location, helpful staff no
closeness to station rom was very small and reather basic.
Fairly good location.About a 20 min walk to center of town, which is well worth it. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty Rooms although very clean, quite small and quite basic for the price,--- eur, which is about---. Breakfast is extra 7.50 euro each,($10)
Their restaurant was excellent Room was really small.
The room are cleans, reception staff are nice and speaks good English. The location is good, about 3 minute walk to marktplatz and 10 min from the hauptbahnhof. They should provide free internet access to customer. Expenses for breakfast is rather expensive comparing to the area.
Excellent location, good physical facility Receptionist was a bit of a battleax
Great location It was unseasonalbly hot during our visit and the hotel ran out of fans. Plus street side rooms are loud with parking garage etc. on the street next to cafes
I stayed in room 102 over 13-17 September 2010. I would not describe it as a "Superior" room at all - it was very basic (which was what I wanted)Friendly, efficient staff, all of whom spoke enough English to enable all requests to be discussed. Very good :"Wurzburg" restaurant on premises - excellent food and good service. Right in bus and tram route. Efficient preperation and presentation of bill when checking out. I would reccommend this hotel to any business traveller looking for value for money. Pillows too soft (no support for head). Towels very thin and cheap. Toilet jammed in tight between shower and wall. Otherwise, all O.K. but I would not describe it as a "Superior" room at all - it was very basic (which was what I wanted)
good value for money central location
The hotel staff was very friendly! Answered any questions I had, and spoke english when I needed her to. The hotel room itself, was very nice. I was upgraded rooms, from a single to a double, for the same price. They were all booked out on the single rooms. I got this at a single price. The room weas cleaned daily, so it was always nice. This was an execellent hotel. I would reccomend this to most travellers since it was located in a great area, and the prices were good as well!
