The decor is wonderful, location for the lake & town are excellent. I booked for October by mistake, but the reception staff were very understanding when we arrived a month earlier in September! They gave us one of the best rooms with big veranda, but one of our dogs got on to the stain glass room. It was a talking point of our stay! The price was fair for the quirkiness, but the full price is quick high.
Comfortable room.Good location.Attentive staff.A very good staging place to make day visit to other lakes. None.
We enjoyed the location, the scenery, the people, and food of the area. The hotel was centrally located and open at the time we were visiting.
The hotel has an unique and wonderful atmosphere. The room was very comfortable, clean and beauifully decorated. The staff (both in the reception and the staff in the restaurant) was extraordinary friendly and helpful. The food and service was excellent. The spa facility had a sauna and steamroom which looked very nice but was unfortunately turned off for most of the time so was not able to use it - which is a shame as the spa is very nice. The pool was open though.
This hotel is 1st Class!
The hotel had a warm ,comfortable atmosphere and the staff were professional yet friendly.they accomodated our needs very well..nothing was too much trouble.dining room was excellent.room 105 stunning view The swimming pool is outdoor,i cant remember noting that beforehand.there was some confusion with booking appointments for facials etc.we would have liked the courtesy car to have run more frequently at peak times but were happy that there was a service.these are very minor comments!
I liked the location of the hotel on the shore of Lake Maggiore with the view of the Borromean Islands front and center. The furnishings and finishes in the hotel were excellent. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The bath was cramped although it included a toilet, bidet, double sinks, shower and jacuzzi tub. The room was not spacious either but the furnishings were very nice.
Smart, professional staff and relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
the luxury, the decor and the amazing views of lake maggiore nothing i did not like.
I absolutely loved the view of Isola Bella and Isola Pescatori. It has the best view of any hotel in that region! Gorgeous! Didn't eat breakfast in hotel...to expensive! I'm sure it was good though. It would be great if they offered a continental breakfast for lighter eaters that was included in the room price,
The care and attention of the dining room staff, the ambience, the excellent service of the shuttle bus drivers. Rather poor pool service. I.E. they seemed to decide whether anyone would use the pool rather than the customer. We had to collect own mattresses and towels after exploring under hotel. The request to reception for help was answered by "immediately" which never came. Admittedly the weather was doubtful but still felt we should be able to use pool if we wanted too.
being welcomed by professionals; great assistance and service; wonderful food; comfort; spa-massages swimming pool area too noisy due to nearby busy road, unfortunately this cannot be changed... They have a nice tennis court, but it is abandoned, a real pity.
Excellent, no problems at all. Price could be lower for multiple nights.
The hotel decor was fabulous. The restaurant and bar staff very friendly. The beds were a bit on the hard side.
Excellent hotel staff and srevice all around. Typical of Europe rooms were small, not like viewed on website. We did not get the class/level of rooms we paid for with no remedy from the hotel, this was a real dissappointment.
It was wonderful to experience a few days of grand "belle epoche" style. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we had a nice stay. I wish the lighting in the bedrooms was better for reading. The bedside lights are not great for reading. Since it was raining for most of our stay, this was important.
Have stayed in many other Stresa Hotels ,this is the best by far..at a price The rooms do not have tea & coffee
all was excellent No
Incredible view of the lake and mountains. Great locatio in Stressa. Absolutely one of the best in Italy.
a truly "Grand" hotel, very spectacular museum-like design, full of artefacts and ambiance. Restaurant rather expensive but very good, staff helpful and efficient. Close to Stresa beaches, shops and restaurants I think it is applicable to all the most expensive and renouned hotels on the Stresa promenade. Lake - facing rooms are exposed to the noise from the road (which isn't very busy, but an occasional bike makes quite a sound) and those garden-facing -a train which is not quite close but the noise reverberates from the mountains, so we chose to sleep with the door closed and the air conditioning switched on on the last day. These are however minor problems compared to the grandeur of the experience.
Our stay was wonderful! We were upgraded to a gorgeous room overlooking the lake, however, all the rooms looked superb. We were a very short walk to the city center and could see the islands on the lake from our balcony. The boats to the islands were also close by. The staff at the hotel were more than outstanding and when our car broke down they completely took charge and helped us get a new car. We had a great facial and massage in their lovely spa. I couldn't say enough about this great hotel. It was a fabulous and I can understand why Ernest Hemingway wrote about it in "Farewell to Arms". The perfect start to our Italian vacation.
Friendly and attentive staff, clean rooms, buffet breakfast was lovely No Bar !
Very nice staff! Nice location! Good breakfast! I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Very good value for the money. Would recomend it to others!
Location was excellent
Nice hotel. A little bit old Some of the staff members don't speak English at all. I asked for Internet access and the staff member could not help me and told me to come back tomorrow.
The owners are very kind
Location Breakfest, shuttle service
central location between train and centre
Good clean hotel in nice position with friendly staff Poor beakfast with little choice
The location of this hotel was excellent and good value for money The beds were very very soft and very uncomfortable. Happy we only stayed for 3 nights.
The hotel staff was friendly and knew the area quit well. The breakfast, to little choice.
The hotel atmosphere.
Nice hotel, not overwhelmingly luxurious, or large, just right for our taste. True 4 stars and in off season good value for money. Probably the most enjoyable in a trip that took us from Italy through Switzerland, Germany and France. Street noise as we were offered lake view room, but the heat in the room to high and we slept with the window open.
friendly staff who spoke English only buffet dinner available. No wine in the minibar. Pool outside and you had to cross the road with heavy traffic to get there.
Location and view to lake
Near the train station, breakfast, and could walk most places Front desk employees when in the concierge services could be more helpful and answer questions in greater detail, especially if a traveller is new to the area and new to Europe's transportation modes.
It was great. I would return. Perfect location, modern, and clean. Pool is across the street and right on the lake (better since you are in Stresa). They accomodated a family of three with an upgrade to a junior suite -- making sleeping arrangements comfortable for our adult son. It's hard to find a room for 3 with comfort!
Location in Stresa
Everything there is excellent; the lake view, restaurant and rooms Not a thing
A very nice and supporting atmosphere, caring staff, they even run to the railway station to bring you the left colledge ring. Bath, brilliant view to the lake. -
The staff was very friendly and the location was fantastic
Not much Very noisey due to location on the street. Poor accomodations. Tiny old elevator. Marginal breakfast.
the low cost of meals at the Meeting Hotel as part of the deal unavailability of an easy to enter shower cubicle
Well-run hotel, helpful staff, good location, lift Breakfast was reasonable but coffee was disgusting
friendly staff. Right in the pedestrian area of town Have to get a taxi from the train station. Took a long time to check out in the morning. Can be quite noisy
The location, because it is really in the centre of the old town. Since the hotel is located in the centre of the old city, until late we can still hear people talking/laughing in the restaurants around the hotel which is a bit nuisance for us in the evening.
This was a good basic lodging option for Stresa. It is not fancy, but the rooms are clean, the breakfast is fine, and the location is fabulous.
The hotel was in a great location making it easy to go to and from while the weather was inclement. Breakfast excellent as was room. There were no complaints whatsoever.
The position was excellent. Right in the centre. Rooms very small, though adequate for a short stay. Could have done with 2 pillows each, such a small thing but this always makes a huge difference to our comfort.
Ability of managers to speak English Noisy from walkways and open air restaurants below rooms. and especially from trash ickup in the morning at 6:30AM.
Location was very good, Parking was good and free, Staff was very helpful. The food in the resturant could have been much better!
Location to Stresa was good The Matre de in the restaurant was a very arrogant man
The views were fantastic and was quiet and peaceful, the short walk to town made an enjoyable evening stroll
Good location. Near Stresa center. Near lae.
Room with terrace and view on the lake and the mountains was superb. Breakfast was great and plentiful. Staff and decor are very classy and the hotel is 5 minutes from the railway station by taxi. Everything was great. Stay too short.
All the staff were very helpful and the Hotel was decorated with excellent paintings The choice and standard of food did not come up to the high standards of this fine hotel
The air conditioning was not on when we arrived and our room felt quite cold and damp. After speaking to the management, we were given a fire and the air conditioning was eventually turned on throughout the hotel
Staff were great - many of whom spoke English. Room was large, airy, bright, very clean. Excellent location in Stresa, & easy to park car. They have a open air panoramic roof top - the view from there is stunning. The lobby area is great as there are a few different places to sit and each has different feel. Breakfast typical continental menu and nice. Great Hotel! Our room had a balcony with a sideways view of the lake which was still OK, but not as nice as a full front-on view. But nothing else to complain about at all, and positive points far outweigh this one negative point. If booking, ask for full front facing view, and ask for room on 3rd or 4th floor - best place for good views. Some rooms on lower floors are overlooked and view restricted.
the fact that it was a family run hotel and the family were there
Good value for Money, nicely kept hotel and facilities
the staff at this hotel were wonderful especially Angela the receptionist who was a mine of info the room couldnt have been better fab views very clean breakfast each morning great a five star experience we will be returning a s a p
I like the location and the vue over the see. Yes that the room vas very smal
Excellent hotel wonderful view.,nice!!
I was there so short time, so i cannot tell
The staff were helpful and friendly. The room had a great view of the lake and the breakfast was very good
The reception staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The restaurant staff run a very impressive facility to a high standard, The view from my room was wonderfull and breathtaking and will remain the abiding image of our holiday. The room cleaning staff were very helpfull and work hard in keeping the rooms fresh and clean. Yes, the cost of using the Internet facility is the most expensive I have ever seen anywhere in the world. It is disgracefully slow and in my opinion borders upon being unusable.Twenty Euros for one hour is disgusting!! Either the Hotel or Swisscom are ripping off the Hotel patrons outrageously. It leaves a lasting bad memory of an otherwise very good hotel.
Good location, nice staff, good food, good parking facilities, garage. The bed was too small!
the view ,kind personel a bit expensive
Location is excellent, the pool and garden are great. The restaurant - too many not-so-effective waiters, average food.
The hotel was impressive and very well maintained with a fine swimming pool. A good location in Stresa. The hotel was very good but I have the following comments: the room was very small but still comfortable there did not appear to be any bar service in the pool area - it would have been good to have the opportunity to have a cold drink (delivered)whilst enjoying the pool facilities
Situation beside lake, with view fron window and balcony. Price of breakfast.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a great view over the lake and the hotel was in an excellent position.
The hotel felt very traditional and grand. the decor was fantastic and the facilities excellent. Would have liked tea and coffee in the room
Isola Bella+Isola Madre. The old part of Streza.Visiting the north part of Lago Maggiore A small room under the roof-hot! no A/C during our stay.
Beautiful design and internal fittings. Views of lake and mountains superb.
I liked the location of the hotel, the helpfulness of the staff, the breakfast and the room. I didn't love the location of the room in terms of a limited view.
The staff wsa excellent and very welcoming. The room was big enough and had a balcony which was a nice surprise since we did not expect it. The only downside was that the balcony overlooks a busy road and it was quite nosy when it was opened.
Very helpful staff. An excellent pool with ample chairs etc. Easy to find. Good sized comfortable room with ample storage and a balcony. Quite a long walk into town. Breakfast was poor quality with limited choice.
Our room was so spacious and well appointed. A comfortable retreat after busy sightseeing.
Staff very helpful & friendly. Room - comfortable, attractive. Meals - delicious! Balcony- comfortable, scenic. Locations - close to sightseeing of the area's tourist attractions No.
It was our 25th wedding annerversary and the staff were fantastic.Close to the lake loacation was good as was access to mountain lift. Busy road outside hotel.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel was a good point for catching the ferries.
We liked the fact that there is a swimming pool. The rooms are simple but clean. The hotel is very noisy, incl. during the night, because of a train track that passes behind the hotel. The service is bureaucratic. The breakfast food quality is very low (not a single fresh item). The rooms located at the mountain side benefit from the kitchen fumes all day long, which is a pity considering the nice balcony.
The staff was very kind and they had private parking places( for free) for your car the brackfast was a bit poor and yhe coffee terrible
very friendly staff
Hotel Astoria overlooks the Lago Magiore. The room comfort and service fall short for 4*s. The room comfort and service fall short for 4*s.
The staff were helpful and friendly. Dining room staff exceptional. The room was well appointed.
Location No shower, tub only. Will not return because of this issue.
Excellent location, brilliant view from the balcony, big comfy bed, possibly the nicest room I've ever stayed in. None at all.
peace and clean ´tomatoes and vegetables at morningpuffe
A beautiful hotel, very central, overlooking the lake. Excellent facilities and very helpful staff.
staff very friendly and helpful no facilities for making tea or coffee in the bedroom. found a kettle and isnstant coffee and tea bag in all British hotels.
close to old town area
Nice place for money required nothing
We got an excellent room, actually a fully equipped appartment for the price of our room and since we were the very first ones to enter this room (hey just had finished the re-work), the accomodation was excellent. Too close to the railway and the train's sound can bother some of the guests (we were not-.).
Very good localization in the town and 5 minutes walk to the boats to Boromea islands The hotel is a little bit old fashioned, something was missing in the room and a lot of dust beneath the beds. A little bit too expensive for the quality.
Service staff were efficient, polite and friendly; gave us lots of information; our request were met on time. We can even use the activity room for our dinner, that was great! The breakfast was very disappointing. Not much variety to choose.
Cosy atmosphere deep in arms of Lago di Maggiore. Central location for easy holiday life and gourmet momentsnot to forget. Some small interior decorating to be fixed. Balcony chair broken.
the location aircondition was broken and it was hot
Well located and comfortable. Had a quad room for family with 2 children.
Booked there, but didn't stay as hotel was full. Changed to ?inferior hotel. Poor facilities. When we complained. owner took no notice of our complaints.
Excellent food in the restaurant - good value for money Everything was good.
Very good location, clean, exelent breakfast, friendly staff.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was simple but very clean. The hotel is very well situalted right in the centre of town; In the centre of town (pedestrian area), the access can seem complicated by car. Phone the hotel beforehand and ask for access instructions to the free public car park which is right behind the hotel.
Staff is great, they acknowledged my early woke up and breakfast was ready for me in advance, great service and great place no, everything was fine
The hotel was right in the center of Stresa - room was light and clean. The hotel is over the restaurant - dinner was excellent. The woman who runs this hotel is great - very friendly, helpful, thoughtful. Even had our room nice and warm for us. Good internet service. Great stay!!! We liked everything!
Centrally located in pretty town with comfortable bed and decent varied breakfast. Staff were accommodating, allowing us to check in early so we could explore and take lake trip without luggage. Room was very clean. Heating not adjustable, so we we a bit too warm and the rooms weren't very soundproof.
Its a 3 star hotel and It closed at 1am. There should have been a night conseirge
Excellent location for lake tours and organized tours. Convenient to go to and fro the airport Malpensa. Yes the bathroom. The mould was growing all around the shower cubicle and shower head not anchored properly in the socket, shower door very diffficult to open and close.
The helpfulness of the staff. We had problems leaving a car for a couple of days and the staff looked after it on our behalf.
The place was very good and communicative. The room I received was too small. I noted that the other rooms are quite bigger than mine.
Nice for the money required Nothing
This is a family run hotel, the staff were helpful and the front desk had attendance from 7am to 1am. The location was superb as it is directly across the street from the boat launch for Lake Maggiore. The parking is also directly across the street.
friendly personnel; wonderful coffee in the morning; good location; a simple room. The price is reasonable considering the lavish hotels in the vicinity; booking in advance advisable, although I would consider hotels in the nearby villages if you are by car. sound isolation - earplugs are definitely to be advised for sleeping; the double bed (as well as the room in general) was really pefrect for one, but would be too small for two; simple breakfast - enjoyable for no longer than a couple of days; some rooms (2nd and 3rd floors) in the appendix to the main building do not have an elevator.
Great location Small bath, but this is Europe
Location No A/C therefore had to leave window open therefore very noisy from next door bar's outside entertainment and inundated with mosquitos.
Poupa is precious and the Garden home and gardens are beautiful and very well kept. We stay two nights each time we come to Du Park.
We had a delightful stay at the hotel and thank all the staff. We have no criticisms to make. Everything was very well handled
The estate, rooms and grounds were lovely. The staff was excellent and so friendly. Breakfasts very nice.
Everything - this is a wonderful hotel with old world charm. Great service, breakfast and atmosphere. One of the best I have experienced.
If I were to stay again, I would request a room facing the lake, as the noise from the trains was a liitle annoying.
Friendly staff, good breakfast, clean room. Close to downtown, walking distance. East to find. Very near the train track, quite a number of trains during the night.
The setting of Du Parc is very pretty. It is conveniently located to the town of Stresa, easily walkable all around. Parking available for cars. The staff were very friendly and helpful with all our requests. The hotel is very charming. Free internet access is available. Though not a huge thing...it would have been nice to access the internet from our room, but the signal is not strong enough. One can however sit in the lounges or bar and access it from there.
Nice staff, lovely town. The train runs right behind the hotel and this and other things made it quite noisy.
The hotel location is great The train is very close to the hotel, when we used the hair drier the electricity went off. The hotel facility is quite old.
Excellant location, our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and had awonderful view, staff were very helpful and attentive. For me our bed was too firm but ok for partner.
Good position Comfortable room good bathroom vry pleasant staff
bedroom was clean, soundproof and spacious. breakfast was one of the worst i've ever had in Italy. Bad coffee, bad cheese, cold meats very greasy and poor food quality.
Clean rooms and very good location. Staff very kind and helpful. Situated in the center. Practical for visiting the islands and the cities around the lac. parking nearby at a very low cost through the hotel. Poor breakfast.
The helpfulness of the staff was outstanding. The hotel is wonderfully situated.
Extremely friendly and helpful, great breakfast and close to town, a short drive down the hill to Stresa.
This was a wonderful family-run B&B in the hills behind Stresa. Massimo, the owner, was the perfect host and he even came to collect us from Stresa centre after we got lost trying to find our way to him. The room upstairs is self-contained and has a nice en-suite bathroom which the other 2 rooms do not. Breakfast on the outside terrace was lovely although fresh juices would have been nice. Overall, the ambience was very relaxing away from all the crowds but careful if you attempt to walk down to Stresa and back - the roads are very narrow and winding! The B&B was difficult to find - even with sat nav. Make sure you get very detailed location instructions beforehand or else you will drive right past it (several times) and may get hopelessly lost. Minor complaint is that there is no shower curtain and you end up sitting in the bath but, frankly, we couldn't care less given the wonderful setting.
location didn't like the room and the "so called" shower and toilet
It was cheap accommodation in the centre of Stresa. You are literally in the middle of the shopping precinct of the town so everything - services, ferry terminal, shops, banks, restaurants - is no more than 2-3 minutes walk. However the railway station is 15 (easy) minutes walk away. The location - above the hotel's restaurant and the others all around it and the shops - means it is not quiet and you cannot expect the area to quieten down till well after midnight so light sleepers will have a problem. The hotel is old and has the usual bathroom with a small shower and no room to swing a cat. Our window facing the 3 metres wide street was directly across other private residences so it was necessary to keep curtains, blinds and windows closed for privacy and quiet.
A lot of noise at night as sound seemed to travel through the hotel.
Location ideal next to the lakeshore and central square. Rooms small but clean. The furniture is looking very tired and in need of refurbishment to bring it up to a more modern standard.
good economy hotel in great location.
Location perfect for walking into Stresa town centre and access to Lake Maggiore
The location is perfect, friendly hotel staff, cheap accommodation, early check-in time. Quite noisy room, but I still had a good sleep. Keys are not stored safely while the guests are away from the room.
Central location just yards from the town's main square with plenty of shops, restaurants etc. Two minutes walk from the lake. No car park but free public parking 2 minutes walk away. Shower was tiny and no lift.
staff were very welcoming and helpful-mosquito gauze on windows was very good
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel allowed for a peaceful nights sleep. The decor of the room could have done with a little refreshment. and in common with a number of hotels I he used in Italy shared an obsession with incredibly low wattage bulbs.
