I liked the hotel room layout because it was new and fresh.
I am a former Miami citizen and so I am picky and savvy. The Royal Palm is simply beautiful. The furniture, flooring, light fixtures, landscaping, are well designed and maintained. My room was clean, chic, had an amazing view. Bathroom was modern and lovely. Bed and sheets were comfortable. Your stay includes beach chairs and towels and service (cocktails and food) at your chair. I felt like a queen and was treated exceptionally well by the staff at the beach. I accidentally left my grandmother's ring in my room after checkout and the bellhop mobilized the housekeeping staff to look for and find it. I am so grateful! And whoever is running this place is doing all the important things right. I am a frequent traveler and will DEFINITELY be returning to the Royal Palm Resort. Oh, and you can't beat the location... I requested a late checkout, as I was unsure when I would be done with my meetings, and the gentleman at the front desk smirked and laughed at my request, which I did not appreciate. I do not fault the Royal Palm for this I still feel, despite this individual, I had an amazing experience and I will definitely return.
Really enjoyed my stay here. The ocean facing room was beautiful and comfortable with a nice clean modern design aesthetic that was very minimal and lent itself to the great view and balcony. The staff throughout was all smiles and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves just fine. A great location just above south beach to keep you close to the night life and local color but far enough away to be comfortable. I had such a good stay that I booked a second night. Also good internet speeds which was crucial since I was on business and uploading lots of files.
It's right on the beach! Housekeeping staff took my iPhone 6 charger and took the bottles of alcohol that I bought and placed in the fridge. They also took my razors. Also noticed that while they are on the floors cleaning they keep all of the doors open even if they have other people's property in them which makes it really easy for someone else to go in to your room and take your stuff.
The hotel had direct beach access, and close to great outdoor shopping, and was a very good value for the money. The staff was friendly and attentive It seemed a little run down, but that was in character for a hotel that was as old as this.
all especially in the interior areas the pool area was dirty all time
The hotel was in a great location with great views. The hotel will nickel and dime you for many different resort fees.
Location, beach access Poor hotel management, and poor service when allocating rooms and requesting guests to change rooms. They tried to downgrade us on the first night (the room was already paid for), and also offered us to sleep at an other hotel on the first night because our room was not available. Not accessible. Swimming pool area: Bathroom at the pool could be the bathroom of a 2 star hotel, and there are no indoor shower.
Cheap renovations with premium cost of accommodation. Parking cost is unreasonable. Our first room had not been cleaned after the previous guests. We were switched to a worse/smaller room. There was no acoustic privacy.
Aside from everything being over-priced, it's situated in a very convenient location that's a few blocks down from all the shops and restaurants, plus the rooms were extremely comfortable! Everything was nice and CLEAN, staff was friendly, and the hotel is a couple steps away from the beach. Will definitely choose this place again! Over-priced services, drinks and food...and they charged us a $30 resort fee per day which we weren't informed about when we first checked in.
Management handled room complication well Interesting modern design in room Great beachfront view and access Sea salt hand scrub in the bathroom was amazing Great location and ambiance Our room was not clean and was in complete shambles when they sent us up there at check-in. (Imagine walking into a room that looks like a rock band had just partied there. We were speechless.) The Bellhop did not give us a claim tag for our luggage we dropped off so we had to go identify it in the storage room and the bellhop had the nerve to ask for a tip after. There was a significant amount of blood on the walls between the doors of our room and the room next door (how can you miss that? who is looking over this place??)
Didn't replace toiletries in the bathroom. Sheets were very rough.
Location great People slamming doors at all hours. Late night(5:00 am return reveled Liked staff very much! Rooms need upgrade
I liked that the room was quiet and very clean. In addition, this hotel is located about a 5 min walk away from Miami Beach. There was plenty of shops and nightlife to attend while there and the staff was helpful even though most of the guests were being unreasonably difficult. No they do not allow you to pay with a prepaid credit card, yes they do have a 100 dollar hold they place on your credit card that they give back the business day following your check out, and no they do not have free valet parking. I paid 40 dollars a night to have my vehicle parked and taken care of for me. This is great considering that the nearest parking garage is 5 blocks away and charges 20 per day. The only thing I can say that I didn't like was the staff not being prepared to answer guests questions and their reaction to jump to conclusions before they researched an answer. I paid for a single night of valet parking , and the following morning decided to pay for a second day. When I checked out and went to get my keys from the valet they refused to give me my keys and accused me of not paying. I had to bring the staff and the valet to the front desk and had them see that I had paid the day before and after they still had an attitude like I was stealing from them. Next I get to the questions. Over the course of the 2 days I stayed there I heard guests ask questions that were easy to answer but the guests were given vague answers or attitude for asking said questions. One question that was asked my second day I was there was " How do I get to the basketball arena from here" , which got a response of "use your gps on your phone or call an uber." No need for the attitude , I understand everyone has bad days so I hope this was only an isolated incident.
The closeness to everything. Wet willies,Mangos, the cleavlander, Larios, and the beach. My room was so small, bathroom was extremely small. The shower had no hot water. I was scared to sleep under the covers so I slept on top of the bed.
the location was Great , open bar , the bed are comfy . i like the decor the phone in the room wasn't working , had to called the receptionist from cell phone i didn't mind but you had to called like 3 or 4 times before someone picked up ... No one ever came to fix the phone . the WiFi signal was weak so there with little to no services ... we spend 3 night and two of those night we had water leaking from the room about us ,, So they were a big puddle of water in the room and bathroom .... Almost fell the first night after calling the lobby like someone came looked and it and never came back... the second night no one came .. We didn't even get sorry for the inconvenience .. the phone was never fix ... So we didn't really have a comfortable stay it was unsanitary . the water could of been coming from the toilet above us .. who know i was very disappointed
The location and open bar Thr huge roaches in the room, I was worried they would get in my luggage but being I live in Atlanta and that's a known thing it didn't offset my stay.
Nothing Wifi sucks
Hotel was very close to all the different attractions south beach has to offer. I didn't have to call many cabs most stuff was within walking distance. Hotel staff was friendly and professional and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I've stayed here twice and would stay again! The rooms were a little small but comfortable. Other than that o can't think of anything I didn't like.
The fact that WiFi was offered and was not available ; also they ask for 100 dollars hold back and tell you, you will get it back at checkout, but really the 100 dollars are for the pack refrigerator that is in the room!!! To me that is a trick on getting you to buy something that you never asked for...
Close to the beach Dirty sheets relocated was not informed regarding transfer. Also the house keepers were not clean or atentive. Staff was rude.
I have paid $100.00 incidental up on check in and I have been informed that the money will be refunded within three days by hotel personnel when I was checking out, however It has been more than three weeks and I didn't get back my refund yet. I have called a week before to find out the reason and the guy on the phone hold me on the phone for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, he told me that the money was not claimed when you were checking out and also told me he just initiate the refund, the money will be in my account within three days but still I don't get my money back.
Good location, and we stayed in a suite with an adjacent outdoor patio/seating area, which was awesome. This trumped all the negatives listed herein. Had to call multiple times and finally stand in the lobby until staff took seriously my request for a set of sheets for the pullout bed . Minor issues with the room: phone was dead ("we'll come fix it right away" and never see them again); stereo in the room was dead (no big deal), faucet handle broken which made turning on/off bathroom faucet mildly challenging. Noise -- Loud until late is understandable because it's Miami Beach, but seriously having the garbage truck smashing bins around for what felt like forever right outside the window at 7am was a bit much.
Close to the beach and attractions. We got there early and was able to use the shower down stairs to get dress until our room was ready. They didn't clean our room on Sunday. When they cleaned the room on Monday, they didn't change the sheets, all they did was change the pillow cases and made the bed up. We had to take cold showers.
I loved the food omg Loved the homely feel of the room n the free breakfast
For the two days (March 31-April 2 2016) I wanted to spend on the beach for my birthday this hotel was perfect. Exactly where I wanted to be, found a decently priced deal, and George the front desk conceited was very helpful and certainly showed his diligence. The free breakfast was great. More than the dry cereal I had expected. It was a lot cleaner that I thought also. I never booked at a non-name brand hotel before ever and took a huge risk with Avalon. But it was well worth it. Can't wait to book them again : ) Nothing to really say negative except the valet took like a hour once to bring my car that had me a little pissed.
Very comfortable and convenient to the beach, shopping and restaurants. Staff was great and restaurant, while not affiliated was great! Classic old features which make it unique. A little dated inside but that's the character I like.
Very friendly staff, the room was nice, the bed was comfortable and the location was great. The room view was non existent, but I wasn't really worried about it because I wasn't there to sit in the room and look out the window.
The staff was the best part of this hotel. They were very friendly and knowledgable about the area, and extended the checkout time so that we could participate in local events before going home.
Clean room, designed nice, great staff, very comfortable and close to beach, so cool!!! No complaints
Restaurant with live music is a rare draw along this area, and the food is good, albeit expensive. Room was threadbare, small, viewless and noisy. Reservation made for late check-in was met with giving me the last/worst room... right behind the front desk. At this rate, there's no hiding a crummy room and a raw deal. There are better hotels within blocks, and at slightly better rates than The Avalon. But hey, they park a '57 Chevy in front of the hotel every day. That's worth something, right? Wrong. Go elsewhere.
Location and staff was awesome from front desk to housekeeping!!! Bedbugs:(
Convenience close to the beach and restaurants. When it was time to check out they make me paid some 63.84 of resort fee that I didnt understand 15.96 a night for every night ?
proximity of the beach quiet noisy (air-condition,street)
THE LOCATION IS AMAZING FOR SOUTH BEACH...THE SERVICE SUCKS ASS!!! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ROOM SERVICE. MY 6 1/2 MOTH PREGNANT WIFE HAD TO WALK DOWNSTAIRS TO GET A FORK THEY WOULD'NT EVEN BRING IT TO HER I WAS PISSED!!! SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE STAFF WAS VERY RUDE!!!
Staff was friendly and competent. Room was not large but not unexpected. Compared to the riot of nightlife on the street our room was quiet. No complaints
Shelley Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of South Beach. I called in advance to confirm we had a king-sized bed and we were assured we did. However, once we arrived we were given two double beds and the staff was very unhelpful. We also had to be switched to a cleaner room. However, even the final room had linens that did not smell fresh.
The hotel is just one block away from Ocean Drive's most popular places. Cozy, clean and relaxed atmosphere with a reasonable price for that location... Staff is very friendly and trying to solve any problem occured... If you are not happy with the noise until 5am, maybe you should ask for upper rooms or look for some other hotel inside the city... No free car park (like the other hotels and places in Miami Beach); so you should add 1.25/hr parking price to your room rate (12pm - 9am free parking).. At check - in; they charge our credit card arround usd100 as deposit for any possible mini bar expenses or damages ocured to the room; but they did not cancel this amount from our cards after check out for a very long time; they should be much more quick about that...
It was very close to the beach and clubs. Rooms are small but clean
Very good location, excellent staff and rooms are great
unfriendly bartender Did not like the fee added on to the room for the supposedly free shuttle service that was late to arrive in the morning. We were forced to grab a cab to the airport.
I'd totally recommend that hotel; because of its location. It's located in the center of Miami beach, in a very very convenient location and it's very convenient and fun to stay there.
hppy hour. 19-20 p.m. all alcohol drinks for free very dark rooms, not enough light
The comfort That the water got turned off in the middle of my stay.
hotel staff was extremely friendly and helped immediately in an emergency
Excellent "fre drink fron 7 to 8 pm..and also the location was very good There isn't wifi into the room only in the reception ( were there is confuson)
Location is excellent. They charged us an extra fee U$15.00 per day, according them the hotel is a resort, but we didn´t agree, this is not a resort at all. Room is very small, very tiny and room service is mediocre, I left on the floor a drops paper on porpous and it was left behind for 5 days. They offer a free shuttle to/from airport but the time table does not fit our needs at all. The price was so so, but when you add the "resort fee" and city taxes it becames so expensive.
Roaches while packing to leave, smelled musty, unprofessional front desk young lady, Ice machines across the street, parking 32 dollars a night rm way to small for doubles, one night was too long Roaches while packing to leave, smelled musty, unprofessional front desk young lady, Ice machines across the street, parking 32 dollars a night rm way to small for doubles, one night was too long
Yeri cok iyi miami beach te kalacaksaniz ocean drive ve lincoln bulvar arasinda kalmanizi tavsiye ederim bu otelde tam bu lokasyonda.Ozellikle bize verdikleri terasli oda harikaydi.Sansiniz varsa oraya duserseniz gercekten miami tatil olur.
çalışanların yaklaşımı x
Was less than I expected The only thing that was good about it was the location. But the staff was great
Location Everything : rooms are awful, old and outdated, breakfast - disaster. ... Will never ever be staying there again.
The location of the hotel was as I expected. I've stayed in Miami Beach a number of times and location is generally more important to me. It was a short walk to Lincoln Rd Mall and a short walk to the beach. The hotel staff was quite pleasant. The room we stayed in was on the ground floor and immediately on Collins Ave. As you could imagine, it was pretty noisy. Also, the heat/AC unit in the room didn't appear to work correctly for heating. Unfortunately the stay overlapped with a cold front in Miami so it was a little chilly in the room. Breakfast was supposed to run until 10 but when we made it at 945 everything had been put away.
Front desk was so rude not welcoming ended up cancelling before they gave me a room and to be more specific on why i cancelled they were slamming doors around because my travel agency was contacting them about my booking with them so I wasn't treated with any care there The rude staff the doors being slammed around and the comments they would say about me in the other room where the manager wouldn't even come out to fix the issue with my reservation
Location was awesome, if your looking for the South Beach Night life. Bar staff was friendly. Great front porch to sit on and people watch. Just a block walk to the beaches. It was difficult to understand the thick accent of the hotel staff, some extra effort to converse was needed. Bathroom was small and in need of updates. Hotel room was clean, furniture was sub-par for price of the room. Hotel is frankly old, and some of that can be charming considering the age of the Art Deco district, but it would be much more suitable for more than one night if the building received some attention and updates.
I cannot say enough about how terrible my stay was. I checked out a day early on 4/18 and am still struggling with their awful customer service as of now.
The location and the breakfast. We arrived at 4pm and while there is no place to park we were lucky to be able to pull up in front of the hotel while we checked in. During the check in procedure we were informed there would be a $30 per day valet parking fee and a one time $13 and some change resort fee which covered wifi, breakfast and a free glass of wine per day. Our room was incredibly small and overlooked the street. Part of the bathroom had been updated. It was basically rectangular, two double beds (one saggy), with a closet on the right and the bath on the left. The bath had a mini toilet and a single shower. During showers the water would alternate between scalding hot and barely warm. There was ONE hook on the door and no place to hang towels. The room had a tv stand with two drawers and one night stand between the bed. (TV was the big old kind seriously?) A luggage rack would have been appreciated because we had to keep our bags on the floor as there was no good place to put our clothes and toiletries. I did like that our windows swung wide open. On the second night that people directly above us made a racket and I had to call the front desk four times. Each time they got the people upstairs to quiet down but an hour later they would start up again. There is no pool or sundeck. You can walk a block to the beach and rent beach towels for $7 per towel which is ridiculous because the towels are only bath size. You can buy a beach towel for that much, After $380 for two nights and fees of about $90 for parking and resort fee and taxes I feel ripped off. When we left one of the employees brought our car to the street about 1 block from the entrance. We asked him to bring the car closer and he didn't say anything, he just gestured to us with the keys trying to hand them over. Really? Finally we got him to bring the car closer. No one helped up with our bags. I will not stay there again.
Bed was comfortable. AC unit worked well. No parking - have to use their valet service for daily fee Lots of hidden fees, added over a $100 to the final bill for 2 days Laughable, dangerous tiny elevator cheap breakfast, lousy bagels Tiny child size toilet no towel rack We won't stay here again. Come to think of it, we won't stay in Miami Beach again. Overpriced tourist trap where everyone smokes in the bars.
no parking!!! overpriced
Contrary to what many of the reviewers have said, the South Beach Plaza Hotel was very nice. The facility is well-kept and neat. The courtyard between the two buildings has a variety of interesting plantings, umbrellas, tables and chairs. My room was in the second building, on the other side of the courtyard from the main office/bar area. My room was completely remodeled, with the exception of the walls themselves. The room was clean and comfortable. This is a very nice hotel, near the beach and other points of interest. It is not super-luxury, but it is a well-kept older hotel. The price seemed a little high, but I have to admit it was the cheapest rate I could find other than at a couple of hotels that really had awful reviews! All in all, a good place to stay. What seems off-putting to many was the $12.95 "resort fee". I was told this was primarily for breakfast, but I wasn't able to be there to take advantage of the breakfast. When I inquired further, I was told it also covered wi-fi and the "wine reception", which turned out to be not really a reception at all (there was no one else at the bar on a busy Friday evening when I was there!), but entitled you to one (1) free glass of wine at the bar. So, for breakfast, wi-fi, and a glass of wine, it all seems rather reasonable! But I would suggest to the hotel to eliminate the fee and just raise the room rates a few dollars.
The location was great. Just one block from ocean drive and about 20 min walk from Lincoln Road. The staff was very friendly especially the doorman. He was very attentive and proactive when he noticed we needed beach towels. We would stay again. Maybe some better quality pillows and a coffee maker in the room.
The staff were extremely helpful and supportive of our stay intention (which was to party and enjoy Miami Beach) and the location (one street back from the beach) second to none for the price we paid. The rooms were freshly renovated with immaculate decor with plenty of space and all the necessities needed for a great weeks stay. Thoroughly recommend and will be staying there again if we return.
The location of the hotel. 1. air conditioning did not work and leaked in room. 2. there was no mini bar menu provided. 3. the hallway was run-down and dark. 4. the room did not feel clean. 5. lack of facilities (i.e., pool, gym, bar, restaurant, etc).
location. Noise, fire alarms, guests fist fights in courtyard, resort fee
The room, amenities and prices were all wonderful. We've stayed here 3 times over this year and it's been wonderful each time! Night shift staff was a little unorganized on checkin which was abnormal per our last experiences. Valet was difficult to locate, no help was offered with bags, and the front desk forgot our IDs, credit cards and the process took longer and involved more waiting than normal.
Every one was really helpful
The staff in paticular Terrance and Patricia made our 2 week visit very pleasurable. They were extremelly helpful and we will miss them dearly. The rooms were excellent especially for a group of people who dont want to be restricted to a hotel room only - having a lounge and kitchen area made things so much more comfortable and enjoyable.
The hotel's design was nice but is seriously run down The hotel was filled with very noisy groups of young people. Many things didn't work and the staff just didn't care
The bed The lack of small face towels. And housekeeping came in too frequently.
Very conveniently located close to the beach and to all the nightlife. Interior is very cosy, and very quiet although if in the middle of the action. Very handy if you want to have a snack/breakfast (kitchen), enough space to work, or receive a couple of guests for a drink. Nice modern furniture, great TVs. Feels like home.Friendly staff. There is no real hotel lobby
Absolutely nothing - It was the most atrocious hotel I have ever stayed at. They charged me for a 2 bedroom room and gave me 2 beds in one room - and will not return emails requesting this to be fixed. Charge of $2900 for 4 nights - completely unnacceptable. It was filthy and dark and dingy, fire alarms going off constantly in the middle of the night, rude reception staff, a bathroom door that wouldnt close. Every time i walked through the reception someone was complaining... this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in, and I travel 20 weeks out of the year.
The staff was horrible! The absolute worst service we ever had. They claimed we had no reservation, charged us $1.15 cents per call for numerous local calls that never connected because of a weird dialing protocal completely unique to them and no dialing instructions on the phone, double charged our credit card (pre-payment and then claiming no prepayment), wake-up call 1 hour late (run for plane!
It is in the middle of South Beach, Ocean Drive. In front of the beach. Rooms to small for a Queen beds, the entire hotel needs a renovation. Paint the walls, change bathrooms. Bad service of TV Cable. Old televisions.
position in front of the ocean, good seafood
The localization is perfect. The atmosphere of the hotel isn't good. Unfortnately it looks dirty and needs an urgent refurnishing indeed. Some suites doesn´t have ocean view.
It is a cheap hotel, quite well located, but this is all positive, rest is poor.
location was great in front of the beach, unfortunately staff was not helpful or kind, also our bed was broken when we arrived at the hotel, rooms could have been prettier
The location is excellent for walking to all the normal places to visit - the beach, Ocean Dr., Collins & Washington, Lincoln Rd., etc. 1. The room was tiny. 2. The room and linens are either very old and/or dirty/stained. 3. The evening/night front-desk was extremely unhelpful. 4. The hotel does not provide any valet service coordinated with the hotel - i.e., the valet is completely independent, only takes cash, and you cannot pay through the hotel.
location was great, also beach towels were available hallways were dark. building's kinda old
It was terrible don't stay here
Great location in Miami Beach / Buena situacion en Miami Beach The Hotel is in very bad shape... The electric outlets are hanging, the room had a broken window, the sheets had holes...Stay somewhere else, location does not make up for it! / El Hotel esta en mal estado...enchufes colgando, ventanas rotas, sabanas con agujeros... busque otro hotel!
Probably location Breakfast was not what I expected
That is was on Ocean Dr.!!! Otherwise it was discusting with no privacy. I heard my neighbors conversation
The service at the retaurant (not owned by the hotel) was EXCELLENT!!! Bathrooms had no fan...
It's in a great place! The price is always right and it's always clean! We've been to a bunch of hotels in south beach that are all Art Deco and not up dated but this hotel has a modern twist and it's just perfect!
Location was good. Room was pretty clean. Drinks at the bar weren't too expensive. Only one person at the front desk most of the time. Not all of the people working the front desk were competent. The valet was pretty rude, but they all are in Miami. Cleaning was spotty. A little loud due to the bar next door.
Our room was really nice, very modern, comfy bed. The free happy hour from 7-8pm was awesome and the bartender was really nice. Overall we had a nice stay. No free parking, valet was around $30/day.
It was cheap Dude in a backpack starts banging on the door at 0500. Security guard shows up I said it's a black dude with a backpack and security guard throws a fit bc I used the word black to describe the guy had he been blue I would have used that as my descriptive word, but he was black. As a white guy who sometimes wears a backpack I hope at some point I'm described as a white guy in a backpack✌
Shuttle service is the reason we picked the hotel. The bus didn't come to pick us up. Other hotel shuttle driver came by and asked several times. We were not informed that the name of the bus is not Chelsea. Unfriendly staff.
Personal I likes everything about the hotel
great location parking is expensive
Clean hotel with nice interior design, the staff were pleasant. They offer free airport shuttle and happy hour in lobby bar at 19:00 - 20:00 (with limited complimentary choice). It's located in a good location in south beach. The rooms were a little small and could use more electrical outlet spots. The WIFI kept disconnecting.
This hotel is very nice I loved my room it was so beautifully designed !! Free drinks durning happy hour at the bar in the lobby friendly staff free airport shuttle affordable hotel I would definitely stay here again!
Location was nice, they have a 1 complimentary drink every day from 7-8 PM. They accommodated our need for early check in and got us in a room by 12 even though technically it should have been ready only by 3. Overall good experience Air conditioning is hard to control in the room, it blows way to strong, so you fluctuate between really cold and too warm. Room key is a little wonky to operate.
Location, location, location. Room size is satisfactory. Bathroom size - great big shower made for great romantic moments. Maid service was out of the norm. They didn't hassle you daily, or at the moment of checkout. Very considerate, which was appreciative. Shower or bathroom had a sustaining odor.
Good location. Good deal for Miami Beach where most hotels are often not what is advertised. The staff was especially helpful. Thanks to Gala. Could hear all neighbors and everything in the halls
The only thing I liked about this hotel was the cleaniliness of the room and the room service. Everything else leaves more to be desired. I have booked the delux room but it was difficult to see any delux features in the room. It was definitely not the boutique hotel. Three pools looked like three small puddles, were dirty and not cleaned for days. Difficult to park even with the valley parking. No kettle in the room to make morning tea or coffee. Receptionsinst had no info about hotel breakfast how much it costs and etc.
This was my 2nd time staying here at the stiles and it was just as good as the first time. Very clean great staff prime location. It easily became our favorite hotel
For the size of the room it was fairly comfortable. The staff, with the exception of the bar, were very unfriendly.
Friendly staff, comfortable beds. Amenities: TINY room, missing refrigerator, mold in showers. Only two complimentary beach chairs (we had three guests). Location: Hotel is a little bit of a walk from the South Beach area where the major hotels are. There was also a SHOOTING in the alley outside of the hotel (we heard the gunshots from our room and it was confirmed later on the news). Misc.: We were also NOT told about the $20 per day "resort fee" that we were made to pay upon checking out.
- Good location - Staff seemed nice - $20 "resort" fee they charge on top of the reservation that you can't opt out of. Plus taxes. - Smallish rooms, but decent furniture - A/C was really, really loud
Low key luxurious
Great location on Collins close to one of the best beaches in Miami with nicest restaurants. Hotel facilities FF&E quality do not conform to the declared 4-star hotel level.
Nice, small hotel; friendly staff; easy access to Ocean Drive and Washington streets; reasonably priced I had a room on the end, at the back of the hotel. It was very noisy outside, however it was Superbowl weekend.
Everything was great here except the shower and bathroom, which I discussed in my negative comments. Otherwise, the decor, staff, location, etc were awesome. We had a great time here. The shower was dirty. It had mildew or mold growing in the grout. Also, the bathroom smelled like sewage, which is not necessarily the hotel's fault. Sometimes there is nothing that can be done based on the way the plumbing is set up. The only other time I have experienced this though, was at a hostel in Costa Rica. So it was a bit disappointing.
We had a great stay in this south beach hotel. We had a penthouse unit with our own private balcony with chairs and chaises with a fantasy view. The staff was great the room was very large bright and clean. Overall a great time. The bar was under renovation so no drinks in lobby but who drinks in the lobby anyways.
Location, friendly staff 2 domestic bottle beers $20.00 and they automatically charged gratuity of $3.00 to take the tops off the bottles. Ate at the curbside restaurant in front of the hotel. I had bacon, scrambled eggs and oatmeal and my wife had salmon omelette and we both had a beer and the bill was $85.00 I live in Vegas and those are higher than Bellagio prices and Bellagio is a palace fit for a king compared to this place.
Everyone is accommodating
the location is excellent, it is across the street from the beach. The front desk staff was very helpful. I had a room with a king bed and I had very little space to move around the bed. The room is extremely small. Valet parkin is very slow. You have to call for your car at least 30mins in advance.
We stayed here for a hen weekend and the staff were fantastic. I've yet to find a hotel who are as helpful cheerful and accomodating. Sabine in My Thai looked after a huge group of us and was extremely professional and organised as well as really good fun! The food they served was delicious and presented well.Youshf at the front desk was really pleasent and helped keep me calm considering how big our group was and also looked after our belongings which we practically dumped on him!..and to Nigel the duty manager who was also very good to us Everything we asked for was dealt with in such a professional manner. Considering there were 30 girls not one of them had a bad word to say about The Beacon- we were all blown away Not a thing was wrong with the Beacon. In fact my mum and my sisters hope to come back for a nite in December! Oh and Bernadette in reservations was a lifesaver and handled an extremely difficult task of sorting out our rooms! Thankyou!!!!
Close to the ocean The wireless network access did not work
We wanted to experience the life style of south beach and thought that the Beacon would give us this opportunity. We had a great time and the hotel is located right were all the action is during the day and night. The art deco buildings and inside deco just made our two night visit the best ever. knowing that the hotels back in the day had small rooms, narrow hallways and a small lobby just added to our enjoyment of stay at the Beacon. Even though some of the reviews made negative comments about this we loved every moment we spent at the hotel and time on South Beach. We liked everything.....
Proximity to the beach, Ocean Drive night life and shopping Almost all staff were excellent and fiendly. One was not.
The staff was wonderful and accommodating. The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch, as well as the beach chairs and towels. The location is perfect. The only thing we could think of was the bathroom door in our room - it was made of lightly frosted glass that left little to the imagination when anyone was using it!
The location was excellent and the room was nice & bright. The hotel is refurbished nicely, although the finishing is a bit rough. Also, we were located on the backside of the hotel where the view was not so nice (backstreet alley), but then again: we only went to the hotel to have some sleep after a night on Ocean Drive... ;-)
Staff were very accomodating and changed our room after our first night(at our request due to noise),great location, hip and trendy hotel. Would stay there again and strongly recommend it for anyone. They even provide you with beach towels, which was great as I'd forgot ours! Noisy doors, but have already had response to my feedback comment card and these are currently due to be replaced. This was only minor though as everything else was great and it would not put me off recommending it
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was small but very clean and comfortable. The hotel exceeded my expectations. No complaints at all!
I liked the balcony and the fact that we had our own floor. I would definitiely go to this hotel and get the ame room.
Kingsize bed. Elevator has pinguins in it.
I love it! It was close to the beach, the rooms were nice and the free breakfast in the morning was great. The staff was pleasant. Oh and they give two comlplimentary drinks which was nice as well. The best hotel on the strip that I've been to
Location - right off the beach - great restaurant on site - start of a great strip to walk and be entertained!!
Breakfast on the front porch
The location was wonderful and walking distance to everything. The room was inviting with style. The beds were not comfortable and the air conditioning system needs updating from old fashion window units.
The staff was very helpful and gave us all the information needed. The room was nice and clean. Moreover, the location was great - the beach was just across the street and all the main streets (Washington Ave., Collins Ave, Lincoln Street) were at walking distance.
Nicely desgined room, the adjacent Front Porch Café with extremely considerate staff The room was not very tidy
Location of property was on Ocean street which is a prime location in Miami beach. Staff were nice, specially Alayna and Charlee who helped us Move to a larger and ocean view room from improper converted guestroom 106 which was by the lobby and kitchen with a lot of noise. Building is very old and poorly maintained, the carpet in elevator has stains on it and is secured with a blue tape to the floor. I studied the hotels around Miami beach and picked up Penguin for advertised location, cleanness and price. Unfortunately room pictures presented at time of purchase didn't belong to this property location and was taken from different property they have recently merged with (Presidential hotel on Collins street and newly build villa building on the back) with new appliances and wet bar, nice curtains which all were missing in this location. I would rate building condition for Penguin "one and half" stars at most.
Great location, really friendly and helpful staff. Front porch cafe is excellent however it's moving to 1458 Ocean Drive in Nov - still very close and worth visiting. Only negative is the beds are really soft and uncomfortable which will make me book elsewhere next time.
Close to the beach, nice furniture. Room made always very late. Restaurant closed for dinner.
I liked the location beach front close to restaurants and casual dance clubs. An older hotel with boutique stylish qualities. Good quality for the money. Restaurant in front over rated for the price. Go a few properties over for a better breakfast deal.
what i liked about the hotel is that the check in was fast, the hotel is close to the beach and within walking distance of alot of restraunts. first of all when i checked out of the hotel the gentleman told me that they released the authorization of the $50 already. i had to wait for 3-5 day and it still wasn't back in my account. The problem wasn't the $50 the problem was that the manager that i spoke to when i called was really freaking RUDE!!!. When i called the first time i spoke to a girl and she told me that they released it and i requested to speak to a manager and she clicked on me. When i did speak to him the manager was horrible, i don't know what type of people they have working there. he insulated me and said that i needed the money so bad because i don't have any money. Its my $50 not his, so i deserve my money back it took an hour to get my money back never staying here again horrible and for you information i do have money in my bank don't insult you customer at all.
The staff was extremely friendly! Very quick in accommodating our many needs (extra sheets, towels, broken lightbulb). It was nice to have towels we can rent from the front desk for the beach rather than using our own and the fruit infused water was a nice greet when walking in. My pillow cases did not look to be clean upon arrival (makeup on one and an oil like stain on the other). Stains on the headboard, the couch in our room looked like it's been there for the past 20 years considering the extreme tearing and flaking, room was poorly lit. The cleaning staff failed to provide clean towels a couple of times but they did take the dirty ones. Overall, the staff is what made this experience nice but I would not recommend a friend here by any means.
The Astor is located perfectly for those wishing to spend some time on South Beach without renting a car. Rooms are always clean. Unfortunately the gym is very old. Also breakfast might be better in the cafes around the hotel.
Chris at the front desk was great as well as the doormen. They made me and my guest feel very welcomed. No complaints about this place. Will be staying in the future at this hotel as long as the price remains good. Hotel was in a great location as well. N/a
Great staff! They lost our laundry and lied about it! well 3rd part did through the hotel!
Location, decor I reserved a king bedroom and i got 2 beds, no gym, no pool, no parking lot, continental breakfast very limited, dryer not working, fridge on room but not working, beds not confortable
Rooms clean but very basic. This hotel should never be 4 star, i'd say 2 star at best. Staff not very helpful or poliet.
Location is great, the hotel shows some wear and tear but for the Art Deco district nothing strange. They charged us $5 more than agreed for the "resort fee". When we pointed this out, it was corrected and we were given an upgrade to a suite. So they corrected their mistake but everybody: make sure you check the bill with your confirmation from Booking.
Good value for the money. Clean, great location. The breakfast wasn't good enough.
I liked that this was so close to the beach. Within walking distance of a lot of restaurants as well. This hotel was one of the worst hotels I have been to in a long time and I travel very frequently. When we first got there we could not check in till four and the front desk help was more concerned about flirting with each other than getting us into a room earlier. After asking four times they finally looked and despite having our confirmation email they couldn't find our reservation. They put us in a double bed room despite having a king on our confirmation. I had a long distance race that following morning so sleep was a major need. Apparently the hotel bar becomes a dance club. They blasted music till 3 am. I could not sleep at all. When I called to complain they lied and told me it would go off in five minutes. I had to call back three more times to get it turned off at 3. I paid too much for this room to have such a horrible experience. Do NOT go to this hotel you will be sadly disappointed.
Reception staff (Jorge) was amazing, so helpful, first class customer service.
Relaxing and romantic. Hotel was well maintained and staff very helpful.
I Couldn't sleep the second floor was to noise and the floor was the noise and the bed
There was nothing I liked about the room. I didn't like the room, the faucet in the tub dripped and the room was old and run down. No dressers, 2 large mirrors that took up to much space, no blankets.
the shower was not in shape
Everything was readily accessible within walking distance. Atmosphere was upbeat and lively with the music and dancing at every bar/club on ocean drive.
Nothing, dirty awful staff service. Didnt like one thing about this hotel and wouldnt reccomend no one to use it. Dirty, worst personal staff ever. Lock didnt work and staff showed unwilling to solve the problem.
Excellent location!!! Best thing about the hotel is the location. I booked the villas but was put in the hotel. Bed was hard and had a cheap mattress. I had a corner room and it was very noisy, all night long. Very little water pressure in the shower. It only trickled out. The hotel has a great location but wasn't very comfortable or relaxing.
Closeness to everything was awesome and really convieniant. Staff was friendly and overall stay can't complain at all. Beds we're ok but o big deal.
We loved the close proximity to the beach as well as shopping! The villas were perfect for us... we didn't visit South Beach to stay in our room, but to enjoy the beach and outdoor life and this place was perfect for that! The staff was friendly and our room was very clean. We will definitely stay here again!!
Great location ,Great loca Great location. very close to all of the clubs and restaurants on south beach. Close to the shops. There is no need for a car because it was easy to catch a can and everything was in walking distance of the hotel. Bar was reasonable. Cheaper than any of the other bars in the area. Bartender was very friendly and the free wine helped every evening. Breakfast was fare but could have been better.
They had free breakfast. They charge extra for early check in. The hotel was under construction and they put us right next to it so we couldn't sleep in the morning. The shower didn't get hot until it was ran for 10 minutes. The shower pressure was non-existent. It barely dripped out. We payed extra for the suite which included a kitchen, the stove in the kitchen didn't work. The bed wasn't comfortable and the towels were cheap.
the hotel was not like the pictures showed...every morming there was noise and work going on..
-The staff was friendly and helpful. -Bathroom was beautiful and up to date, with a water-efficient toilet. -Window had light blocking shades, important for the location. -Plenty of hangars in the closet. -Very comfortable bed -I booked a room with a partial ocean view but there was absolutely no view except of the building next door. -The room was clean - the most important thing - but the room arrangements were often awry. The first day apparently they had steam cleaned the carpet because it was still damp, and all the furniture was moved away from the walls. Third day there was no bath may and the toiletries were on the bed instead of the bathroom. -The bathroom was so tiny there was nowhere to put anything. A few hooks and racks on the walls would have resolved the space issue. -The wifi didn't work except for a few minutes over three nights and mornings. -Biggest issue with my room (253) was that it was situated apparently over the buidlng's air-handling unit, because there was a humming throb that would vibrate through your feet on the floor and the furniture if you out your hand on it. Luckily the bed was well-cushioned so it didn't bother my sleeping. -My room was very, very tiny! It was all I needed but just be aware you get what you pay for. I peeked into a bigger ocean-facing room and it looked much more comfortable.
Close fo the beach Very small rooms
I liked how friendly everyone was. They have a text option to contact the front desk. You no longer have to call. You can just text them what you need and they will bring it. Although my first room had some issues they quickly moved me into a new room when I brought it to there attention. The beach is right outside your door. I thought sleeping would be hard because all of the street noise but it was fine. My first room had nats which continued to appear. Also the shower smelled like backed up sewage and there was a roach on the wall. Once I brought this to the attention of the front desk they moved me within 10 min. I was told that they fumigate every other day due to the restaurant on the first floor. The hotel needs a better cleaning system. There is dust balls under the bed and stuck against the wall and carpet. They do the minimum to clean your room.
The food was really great and the fact that it is right in front of the beach. The restaurant staff was awesome and very attentive to us as customers. The breafast is really good so is the seafood. The rooms were not vacuumed nor was the toilet clean. The beds were not comfortable. the ac unit did not cool the whole room. There was a smell in the hallway and in the room that was not great.
Everything was dislikable ... terrible place. Was charged to much although cancelled valet .. they don't listen... don't clean ... nothing
Fine stay but why isn't the "Amenity fee" mentioned in the booking?
Shower was new looking and nice. Vintage feel to hotel. Website said I'd have a partial ocean view but had an alley view. Had to pay $30 for parking. Had to pay $150 for security deposit. Had to pay an additional $17 for something else I don't remember what they said.
I loved the location it was right on the main st. Ocean blvd. But it wasnt down in the center of all the crazy noisy parts it was just off to the one end where it wasnt 2 wild but still right near all the action. The room was clean the bathroom was nice and remodeled with beautiful tile on the floor and up the walls very impressive. Room service had a room cleaned up very nice with complamentary waters on our bed so that was nice i nvr had to worry about going to by any. It was a litte noisey in the morning when they were doing street clean ups i did stay on memorial day weekend so i could see them needing to do more cleaning up than usual.
Excellent South Beach location Staff .
Closeness to the beach. The sheets were dirty
Location No AC no TV staff didn't care that I dint have this things, getting up sweating every morning because there was no AC that was the worst part
Charged all kinds of fees. Valets went through my things. Staff was rude. Room was very small and felt like a hostel
The Betsy Hotel is in a great location. Very friendly staff.
The white exterior w/ the front porch is welcoming and classy Polished staff workers w/ smiles Excellent concierge service from both Monique and Paul Artwork, the rock and roll theme Our Room #305 - just gorgeous The Roof - what's not to love. My fiance and I used it together and when he napped in the room one day, it was a perfect refuge for me to have some alone time. BLT Accessibility to Starbucks and the beach. Loved being "across" from the beach vs. directly on it. Your location is very nice. I do wish we could have a waiver for the resort and valet fees. Other hotels (The Tides) were giving what they call a summer Florida resident rate that also provided free valet and no resort fee. Plus, your pool was under construction. Nevertheless, we decided to pay the extra because The Betsy had the appeal we were looking for.
Location and friendly staff. Beautiful ocean front room. Top notch hotel with a very nice atmosphere. Skimpy on the bathroom amenities. Minor complaint overall.
good location in South Beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. I was charged an extra fee for 'resort fee' plus sales tax for each day which were never mentioned when I made the booking. Seeing that I was there on business and not leisure, it was a waste of money to pay this fee for access to the beach. This should have been stated clearly.
Kindness of the manager on duty when I left, Mr Cory Randolph. In general, the staff is anyway courteous and kind. Nice decor. Good location. Small room. Windows impossible to be open!!!..Bad information from web and Booking.com about what you have to pay to check in with a dog.
The staff and service was incredible! We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the beach right in front. As well as the roofdeck. The $15 resort fee covers sunchairs, towels and umbrellas on the beach. The location of the hotel is excellent. Close to everything yet in a quiet area. Highly recommend staying here if you are willof to splurge a bit.
Great location! Right on Ocean Drive and had beach service as well as a rooftop lounge area. The onsite BLT Restaurant is excellent. A classy hotel with small but very attractive rooms (we stayed in the Classic), attractive bar and lobby, and an appealing verandah.
Location and food; oclonial style of the hotel internet didn't work for almost 2 days; no business centre; lift failed several times whilst my stay; no bath in expensive room
fantastic and courteous staff. getting ice for the room was an inconvenience.
Top side deck was very relaxing and had a great view. Hotel room was extremely comfortable, especially the bed. Love the books they have all over the place.
The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and took their time to provide information and services. The food at the hotel restaurant was one phenomenally delicious. The decorative bed pillows were dirty and the maintainence people interrupted our stay at least three different times. Lastly the only elevator was small and extremely slow.
Location ideal for south beach but noisy Not worthy of4 star rating more like 3.5 Dirty windows pillow case not put on extra pillows delivered Weak drinks Parking difficult A/C did not work TV did not work Noisy neighborhood next door to Drag Bar
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
The staff members were super-polite for everything! If we asked a question, they were attentive to our every need. The hotel has a nice pool and free lounges and towel service on the beach. We were close enough to the action, but the hotel is quiet.
Staff were friendly and helpful. It was very noisy when we were trying to sleep! Too near night life for us.
Good location if you are looking for party location. Not a good location if you have kid since there's loud music downstairs and you have to walk across the busy street in order to get to the beach.
Not much... Right next door to a very loud gay club in the middle of Miami Beach Gay Pride. Did no one think to inform guests that the rooms would be extremely noisy and incompatible with actually relaxing??? View also was minimal...
