It was a beautiful hotel. I want to stay there again.
very attentive staff and very positive feeling
good facilities;helpful staff had to request tea/coffee maker and a refrigerator coffee/milk supplies not replenished daily
The staff was great and the room was very nice. The breakfast was terrific much better than expected for $1.Ut was a overall great experenice.
Good location, helpful staff poor plumbing, below average food and very high cost of room service
very helpful concierge. Decent location
It was so busy/ room service was 30 minutes later
good location, nice staff
The location The price
My room was very nice and well maintained by the housekeeping staff. The front of house staff were also very cordial. Charging $12.95 per day for internet service is unreasonable, based on the room rate we were charged.
Rooms needed to be dusted. Mini bar is electronic and not a refrigerator; DO NOT TOUCH or you will be charged.
Comfortable beds and attentive front desk staff. Some inattention to housekeeping in a room with a Murphy bed.
The staff Felt a bit hurried to finish our breakfast.
The hotel is a beautiful place with excellent finishes. Everything was in great condition and high quality. The rooms were small, which in understandable given the location, but this was a double bed room so it seemed even smaller.
Excellent service. I ask them if I could make my check in before 3 pm (the official hour) because I was going to arrive at 9 am, and they had my room ready for that hour.
The staff were very friendly and the hotel was beautiful. We'd definitely stay here again!
Location Horribly overpriced
We were in a suite and it was spacious and nicely furnished. Most staff were nice. Great having a Starbucks in the lobby. Nice central location. The bathroom was small, especially the corner sink. There was no counter space. Front desk clerks were hit and miss. Some nice, some not. Concierge staff were great. The breakfast was OK, not great.
The actual hotel was clean and updated, the staff was friendly and helpful. Overall the actual stay was great. Nice little happy hour offered at the bar. Valet parked my car for 1 night, and took it upon themselves to charge $50 to my credit card, plus a $17 convenience fee. No lot in the surrounding area exceeded $25 for overnight parking. I should have parked my own car. I feel that the hotel was nervy and rude to charge us double the going rate for parking - without notifying me. I felt taken advantage of, since we were already paying top dollar for a 1 night stay. The hotel was nice, but not that nice. I stay in DC all the time, but I may not return unless this problem is rectified.
Amaizing service with very friendly staff Beds and pillows were amaizing
Comfort of the room Lack of phone service or free wifi.
This is a luxury hotel for an unbelievable price. The hotel is centrally located to about everything you want to see or do. What first caught our attention is the fact that you can look down the street and see the White House just a few short blocks away. Yes, there are a lot of hotels in Washington D.C., but if you are looking for a GREAT hotel at an unequaled price, this is it. This would be our first choice when returning to Washington DC. There was nothing not to like about this hotel.
The location and comfort here is great! Overall very good value!! The room was a little tight. Room had empty box of tissues, could of been a bit cleaner, dust.
Staff very helpfil. Close to DC metro and attraction
The room was made up in typical Hilton style with decent bedding/bathroom stuff. This hotels has seen better days. One of the elevators was out of service (seemingly for a long time - a piece of tape covering the outside) the button to the elevator was cracked, and the whole thign was worryingly slowly and creaky. The room itself smelled musty - like it hadn't been aired out in years. Outside the window was the HVAC system which was *loud*. It was a crazy-horrible room. My best guess is that because Kayak booked the room through Priceline Hilton felt it was okay to give me the worst room they could find. I checked out immediately and went to another hotel nearby for the same price, but with a much nicer room and hotel in general.
Staff amazing and SO CLOSE to Everything! Also, very easy to Metro and DCA.
It was right downtown near the white house and monuments, so we could walk everywhere Everything closes down so it's hard to find a late night restaurant or pharmacy
The hotel was very nice and extremely close to all the sites (just blocks from the White House). The room, service, and location were far above what I would expect for the price. Would stay here again and will recommend to anyone visiting the DC area.
Excellent location for much of downtown DC. Around Midnight my room filled with old cigarette smoke as someone began smoking in the stairwell. The air quality overall in my particular room was poor, requiring the windows to be opened as much as possible. This of course made it difficult to sleep as the city sounds in DC near The White House are loud and replete with sirens 24/seven. Normally, one might cover one's ears to have silence. However, at this hotel the pillows are the size for small children.
Friendly, attentive staff. Clean rooms and facilities. Location is within walking distance of many places to eat and a short ride from the national mall. Would stay again. Very cold lobby/restaurant/bar area. Thermostat in room kept malfunctioning. The maintenance guy brought us a space heater at one point. Requested shampoo at one point and three different staff people delivered some three separate times. Very friendly, but obviously some lack of communication. Staff was very apologetic about the thermostat and offered us a variety of comps.
The staff was very friendly. The price was fairly cheap for the location. The wifi didn't work and charged $12/day. Heat and lights didn't work. Bed bugs. Expensive parking.
The location was great. Movies could not be rented on the TV. Wifi was spotty.
I like the location, the staff was polite, etc. The bathroom floor was dirty. The floor needs cleaning. Requested a small refrigerator and the next day my food was no good. Chemicals in the fridge. The wifi didn't work, however, the price was waived and I was able to go to the T room to do urgent work.
This site says it has free parking which is not true it was ok but wouldn't stay there again breakfast is 16 dollars for cereal and muffins internet is also expensive
I used to work near Scott Circle so this was convenient for me to go visit friends. No choice as to heat or a/c in the room...which is a nightmare during in-between seasons. My room was too warm and there was nothing I could do about it. Ugh. Also, $41 for valet parking is nothing short of highway robbery. Finally, female front desk clerk needs to add "smiling" to her repertoire.
Excellent location: within walking distance of Metro stops &, even better for me, across the street from a Bike Share station. Staff were polite, helpful, and professional. Worth every cent I spent. Happy medium between really expensive places right next to the monuments and less expensive places that were farther away. The room was smaller than I expected but adequate for my needs.
It was comfortable and walking distance to resteraunts and attractions
It's in a good location just north of the heart of Washington DC. I was in town for 6 nights for a SHRM conference and this hotel was very disappointing. Why is it that more expensive hotels charge extra for wifi while it's free at lower-end hotels? An extra $15/day for wifi. Ridiculous! They were a little stingy with the towels--I only had 2 bath towels in my room. Most hotels provide 3 as standard. The bathroom was small and laid out oddly. The toilet was against the same wall as the bathroom door, facing the sink, and was very close, so getting up was a little awkward. The shower didn't have a door so a lot of water ended up on the floor. I reserved a king bed but the bed I got was no bigger than a queen. I had to ask to be moved to a room with a king bed. The staff was neither friendly nor accommodating. The published breakfast hours were up to 10:30 but when I tried to enter the restaurant a little after 10:00 am the staff said they were closed until lunch. The examples of their borderline-rudeness are too numerous to list, but very few on staff were friendly. Oddly enough the exception seemed to be the housekeeping staff.
Well located Dirty Low level maintenance most of the staff is not caring
Amazing breakfast. (We got free breakfast vouchers when we booked our room). Comfy bed. Convenient central location. Asked for a fridge, never got one. Had to have the shower repaired because it wouldn't get hot. TV had really bad reception and very few channels.
Unfortunately we had to cancel our reservation due to heavy rain, traffic, wind, etc on the route. The manager did agree to refund part of our money. We were disappointed that we weren't able to make the trip.
It was a quick stay but it was great. The staff was super friendly and extremely helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The only thing I wish this hotel had was free wifi.
Everyone was incredibly friendly. The service was just out of this world.
Great hotel. Good position. Good staff. Perfect.
I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was definately more social and less like other hotels. It was a great experience.
The King Junior Suite was really large and very comfortable for the few days we stayed there. The front desk staff were very knowledgable of the area and very efficient with check in/check out. The bathroom amenities were great and you could get anything else you might have forgotten from the front desk. They also had complimentary wine from 5pm-6pm! The location was also really fantastic in which you were about a mile away from most of the sites so it is a quick walk or Uber. The rooftop patio is also incredible! I highly recommend this hotel!
Excellent attitude amoung all employees. Very welcoming. Had to wait over 2 hours to check in.
Very nice hotel and attentive staff. Made us feel very welcome and the decor was very nice. Free champagne at night was a nice touch! Had a room we could keep our bikes in which was nice. No coffee in room, no real desk to work on were my only gripes. Nice big flat screen but no HD TV was a bit of a disappointment (although have been in other hotels with same set up). Not a big deal, though, locale was nice and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
I had a big room with a big bed, enjoyed watching TV from the sofa.Overall, I enjoyed the room. Do not serve free breakfast
Good furnishings No parking
Nice area, rooftop is nice, awesome beds. Bathroom door did not shut.
the decor was very interesting, the staff was very helpful and even went so far as to look up metro delays for us as we sat in horrible traffic. there was a dirty washcloth in the bathtub when we checked in and there was no vending available that i could locate.
I love the the original amenities in the mini bar. At the beginning we didn´t really know what to expect from the whole place due to the whole decoration being so rare and original, but we ended up enjoying it...the atmosphere is a lot of fun. There was no lotion available in the toiletries. The room service hours were kind of limited. There were some really nice people in the staff but some others looked a little annoyed and just too eager to go home.
incredible suite for the price... they tried to put me in a regular dbl room when I checked in! Reminded them I had booked and been confirmed by their reservations mgr for a suite with 2 dbl beds.
The staff was very freindly and attentive and the hotel itself is beautiful. The fitness center was impressive. There was no wi-fi availbale in our room and we had to pay 13$ per day for internet acess.
We absolutely loved our stay at The Mayflower. My husband and I were there to renew our vows on our anniversary and the staff were extremely welcoming, making sure our room was ready several hours before normal heck-in hours so that we could get dressed and off to the ceremony in time. I can't think of a single thing that was less than exemplary- the loveliest hotel in DC!
I came in at 4 and there was no water or mini-bar in the room. They told me that if I wanted a Diet Coke I would need to wait until room service was open at 5. In the morning, they didn't fill the breakfast order -- said they didn't get it. This for $400 a night? Hardly 4 star service.
Beautiful lobby, great DC location, helpful staff, lovely room. A value I don't understand but was happy to have. Lovely room. It was great! As a group we did not enjoy breakfast in the restaurant.
The hotel in a very nice location and the room very comfort. they give to me Room No 403 we can't sleep because of the noise of the air-condations from out side. and the hotel staff are not frindly
Service was excellent They changed me an extra 200 dollars when I checked into the hotel, despite prepaying on Kayak
Location. Easy walk to many attractions as well as to my business destination.
the location is near where my son lives- walking distance The air conditioning (rm902) seemed un able to bring the temperature of the whole space down. The layout puts much of the room a long distance to the cooling air. The sink in the bathroom leaves little space for the toiletries.
A Kimpton stay is always worth savoring and the Topaz is no exception. Conveniently located on a quiet street just a block away from Du Pont Circle, its plethora of restaurants and Red Line metro stop, couldn't be better positioned. One of Kimplton's older properties in DC, its age is beginning to show but the rooms remain very comfortable with well functioning AC (important in this city) and comfy beds and linens. The people at a Kimpton are always the best, and the Topaz staff don't disappoint with helpful tips and recommendations and a willingness to pursue whatever you need. The tight lobby and now fading décor reflect the early days of Kimpton's rapid expansion in the District. The Topaz is a very intimate, boutique hotel that fits in well with the quiet residential neighborhood. Rooms are surprising spacious and physically comfortable, but well-worn and in need of an overall rehab with an attention to technology and access to electric and USB outlets, particularly around the desk (where you still need to crawl under to plug in your computer!). All said, I'd easily stay here again for its convenient location when the price is right.
Location, staff was friendly, room was spacious and luxurious. Price was good value for the area. Wish I could have checked in before 3pm, but they did try to accommodate me.
The room was extremely spacious and the front desk staff was very accommodating. I also like the general ambience of the hotel. Front desk comped my minibar purchase because of the door issues. I was disappointed by the level of upkeep associated with my room. The entry door was clearly broken. You had to yank hard and really slam the door to get it to shut and stay locked. My housekeeper left my room door wide open after servicing the room one night so I came back to an open door. All of my belongings could have been stolen but luckily everything was there. The AC unit wasn't functioning properly so the room temp was a bit hot. The lighting in the vanity area was burned out. Could have been great but this really took away from the experience. Also no HBO
manager was very helpful in resolving difference in price between booking.com price and price on arrival
staff friendliness and professionalism were great, especially night staff at reception. Found one of the staff at the gift store gave incorrect info regarding tour pick up times, but we got the correct info from the person who was there the next day.
Really good value - clean freindly and a really good safe location. I would recommend as on a direct straight road to white house. Bar good and freindly atmosphere with varied clientele watching Tv.. I felt comfortable having a beer alone there as my daughter was out - I would not do this at home. Staff gave good advice and hailed cab for us etc. No-
Rooftop pool, baggage storage service, polite and efficient staff, central location
Hotel staff was very helpful Location is a bit remote to all main sightseeings
the bathtub, room service was prompt
It was clean and looks nice from the outside They charge you for parking and they don't tell you. They tell you to come down for breakfast when you have to pay for breakfast after they say it's complementary.
I'm upset that I can not get a refund!! I had to cancel my reservation due to a flight cancelation.
nothing special at the hotel . it runs but nothing special to come back . np
The beds. The fitness room. It was soooooo hot and there was no way to adjust the temperature.
I was charged for breakfast although it was included in the cost the room
Location was okay underwhelmed by room, asked for one kings bed but got 2 small double beds. No late night dining.

The level of professionalism from the staff was amazing. I enjoyed the location because I was easily able to walk anywhere I needed to get to. Some might prefer being closer to the metro, but I was pleased. The tub was awesome. I wish there had been bubble bath soap.
Super friendly front desk for the most part Felt slighted by some of the other members of the staff valet in particular seems that certain people were treated some ways and certain people were treated others with the latter being treated worse. This is becoming a Norm at Marriott
Location was excellent to walk or take the metro everywhere, breakfast was good, evening reception 3 days a week with drinks and appetizers was good as well. The service and hospitality of the staff was top notch. Parking is valet only and expensive, $45 a day. Thankfully we didn't rent a car and were able to just walk or ride the metro everywhere.
comfortable room with lots of space and clean/new kitchen appliances. corteous front desk and valet staff. great breakfast buffet. good location 1/2 mile walk to the convention center. air conditioner was too loud and the thermostat was inaccurate so the room was too cold unless we shut the AC off completely.
