Food was unpretentious, but excellent. It was a bit impersonal.
Friendly staff that made an effort (I think it were the owners). Nice breakfast. Conveniently located near the highway (we were passing by).
A reasonable location, however we found the rulesassociated with access and bar opening a restriction. It felt like the owners/mamanger was running it for their convenience and not the Customers. An example of this was when we requested a dring from the bar at 21.00 after having been out for a meal only to be told that the bar closed t 20.00 and that by the way the reception area would be closed and lighs out at 22.30.After my objection we were served albeit begrudgingly with 2 glasses of wine and as predicted at 22.20 the owner manager came to tell us that he was about to switch the lights off! No Kettel/Tea nd coffee making in the hotel rooms. With breakfast not starting til 08.00 this is quite restrictive.
The friendliness of the staff and the effort that was made to make our stay good.
It was clean They don't speak English. Not very helpfull. It is in an industrial area far from everything. Wouldn't want to spend there more than one night
We were only in the hotel for around 5 hrs as we were visiting a venue nearby
Whatever the location's hotel is (industrial area) , the hotel is very quiet. The rooms and toilets were very clean. The staff was friendly. The breakfast is not so rich as I would have expected, french pastries( croissants, pains au chocolats) instead of bacon, eggs ,ham...
Friendly staff It's very basic. For the price paid one might have expected a bit better. The rooms are small and haven't had a refresh fro a long time. no main light either. The main swithc just linked to a very small bedside light. Slightly dubious about client base given positioning of mirrors and channels on TV!
Easy to book. No problems. Everything as agreed.
Private parking and location
Good location breakfast ok Furniture a bit worn, shower quite difficult to adjust and maintain at desired temperature
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Perfect situation in the center of the city, plenty of restaurants, (to recomend Le Bistrot du Boucher just in front of the hotel) staff very kind, confortable room, the bathroom a little small but no problem at all, very clean, nice breakfast, we could come back. none
Lovely staff and service, comfortable and very spacious (and quiet) room. Location could hardly be bettered, close to the centre and excellent restaurants and in easy walking distance of the railway and bus stations. This really was exceptional value for the money. The breakfast buffet is very good, with efficient and friendly service. Newspapers provided were a bonus.
Comfortable clean room, good secure parking that is cheaper than the municipal garage next door and more secure at 6 euros per night, buffet breakfast not cheap but thats reflected in the quality of the food - excellent. Little bit awkward to get to but the hotel emails good directions on booking but to be fair the town centre was undergoing major refurbishment.
Good location. Room size was generous and comfortably furnished. Super bath tub. Hotel overall was clean and well-maintained, if a bit lacking in life and character. Probably best suited to business travellers. Reception was unattended for 10 mins when we arrived. Bar was closed on a Saturday night - possibly because it was a holiday weekend. Awkward window treatment with a combination of ugly mechanical blinds and no proper curtains. Room overlooked one of the most spectacularly unlovely courtyards in Europe.
Very convenient location and friendly staff. Nothing that springs to mind.
Within a few minutes walk of the older part of the city and very handy for the restaurants and the new shops. The bar was not open at night on our stay.
The friendly staff found us a secure place to store our bicycles and the pool was great. The restaurant was a bit disappointing. Had the pasta carbonara which tasted very fatty. Service was a bit slow.
Friendly service and good food Mal functioning of loo flushing system
Good breakfast Location was convenient but not very attractive
I expected a restaurant. Had to insist in order to get dinner and it was a set meal based on a group that was staying there - quite poor service. Overall felt runned down.
Complete toilet suite none
Parking was plentiful and easy. The staff were accomodating. The decore was pleasing. The evening meal left much to be desired. It was poorly prepared, not of a very high quality and insufficient. It was poor value for money. I would not choose to eat there again though I might choose to stay. The staff said that they had many satisfied customers but I saw at least one family of 4 get up and leave having discussed the menue and seen food arrive at other tables.
The restaurant is a must - so good we stayed again at the hotel on our return from holiday, gourmet food and service. bathing and toilet arrangements are ready for an upgrade.
room very clean, quiet place
In the middle of Poitiers and right next to the street with lots of restaurants. Also very quiet, however there is large square in front of the hotel which was covered with large building machinery, fortunately we stayed on a Saturday night, so there was no-one working there on Sunday morning.
Located in the very centre of the city makes this an ideal choice for shopping and sightseeing.
The hotel is really central and so it was ideal for exploring the town. The staff were really friendly. The rooms are comfortable with a good tv though they could benefit from an expelair in the shower area as it was getting a bit mouldy. There is no dining room for breakfasts but these are brought to your room and this was a wonderful luxury! We arrived on the Sunday only to find out reception doesn't open till 5pm so we couldn't get to our room till then and we were tired as we'd got up early for the flight. However, once we got in, the hotel was perfect for our needs.
The Hotel Staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was superb. The shower in our room didn't function to well.
The hotel was very central for exploring Poitiers and the rooms were clean (if a little basic)
Helpful staff. Very good service in the restaurant. Quiet location. All round excellent value for money.
Friendliness of the staff, good food in restuarant
Excellent food - convivial atmosphere.
It was conveniently located to most of the places my family needed to get to.
Friendly and knowledgeable English speaking staff. Breakfast buffet had a variety of traditional French and English foods. Room was clean with comfortable beds. Not an ideal location for the city of Poitiers, but it was easy to find from Rte 10
dissapointed after a very long drive that there were no restuarant facilities available at weekend (we arrived on a sunday afternoon, tired from long drive from Northern Spain)
size of the room The location
Staff helpful. Restaurant staff and cooking up to restaurant standards. Bedroom enjoyable for quiet rest and reading.
not sure Restaurants oening hours should be earlier especially if you have children dining
Exellent position to Poitiers and surrounding area.Arrived at night but hotel signs made it very easy to find.
Close to the train station, very clean rooms, friendly staff, good price.
Excellent facilities in the room and great staff Not much around. On a busy road on a deserted section a few blocks from the train station
Beautiful, Clean and in good location. None
Excellent room. Very friendly, helpful service. Cooking facilities in room were good but we didn't use them. Difficult to unlock door in room 101.
The friendly and competent staff.
In this particular hotel at Poitiers, we found the person in charge very helpful. He gave us much useful information and was very friendly. The hotel was very clean. We would have liked an evening meal at the hotel instead of having to go out. It was possible to have a snack there.
very good staff Directions impossible to find. room quite small
we stayed only one night but the staff was very friendly a bit oldfashioned style but it did not bother
hotel as it said on the box ,clean ,convenient and helpful manager ,good value
Management willing to help and advise on places to go. Gave ua a local street map of the area Rooms need updating
This is a very good, value-for-money, hotel. The owners are very nice and most helpful. Family room was spacious, shower was particularly good and breakfast very nice. Short drive to Poitiers city centre (plenty of low cost parking especially in the evening) and an easy drive to Futurscope.
It suited our purpose (golf team, 10 mins from the golf course, not expensive). The proprietors were friendly & helpful.
The owners were very pleasant and helpful and the room and bathroom were extremely clean The property itself is rather tired and basic. The location is very poor for meals out
The staff was friendly and speaks english. Rooms are a bit noisy. You can hear the neighbours flush the toilet. One of the shutters of the windows made a lot of noise during the night. The photograph of the hotel is different than in real life.
Hotel staff very helpful and polite This was the worst hotel for the breakfast we recieve, there is a mcdonalds down the road i would recommend this for your breakfast.
William was excellent and a delight to deal with - we shall happily book in again The rooms were a little drab - a lick of paint or more contemporary furnishings would have made the hotel very comfortable but all in all a really pleasant experience and the location was awesome!
Location; Staff; Petit Dejeuner Back entry
A nice quiet hotel, which was clean and the proprietor friendly. The location was excellent as it was right in the middle of the old town. Nothing
Cousy We should be warned about the reconstruction of City Hall just infront of the hotel.
Location, internet, parking.
The hotel is a very typical french hotel-not a boutique sanitisised hotel. The room was clean small but adequate, the breakfast was very good quality ingredients that were well thought out. The hotel was quiet and there was secure parking. The hotel stairways needed redecoration which gave a poor first impression. We could not use the secure parking on the second night as we went to the late show at Futuroscope and the parking was locked at 9pm.
Location with own parking place right in the center of the city Parking place rather challenging to manoeuvre with car; travaux just in front of hotel (hotel not to blame of course)
Very pleasant staff, welcoming and gave tips about the area. Rooms comfortable and the ventilator fans were much appreciated in the hot weather. Hotel very centrally located hotel for anyone wanting to explore Poitiers. Parking was also very useful in the city centre, though the spaces were very tight indeed but hoteliers again helpful in allowing us to fit in to their own space. Breakfast was good but for the price maybe more mini-croissants available from buffet area rather than limited to a basket per table. Plates rather small - the size of a saucer. One stair tread edge of carpet was loose which could cause a nasty trip.
Our host and hostess were friendly, helpful and very patient with my French.
We used the hotel as an overnight stop, and it ticked all the boxes as a value for money stopover. Food surprisingly good
plenty of places to eat around. Room wasn't ready when we arrived at 5.00pm and they had problems with it. Moved us to another room which wasn't ready either. In the morning they tried to charge full price, not the price booked by booking.com. Had to get laptop out and show confirmation e-mail.
Good breakfast. Good parking. It is not totally convenient to have the bedroom block separate from the rest of the hotel.
Very quiet clean rooms Dsiappointed hotel was so far out of Poitiers
The way the staff helped, Although French they tried their best to help in English !!! Spotting the turn off from the road...Could do with better signs
Its proximity to auchan The room was a little claustophobic
the hotel was welcoming and very comfortable.when asked staff were obliging and booked another campanile for us nothing
We were travelling from Spain to UK & this is a stopover that we have made before- the only thing that was good was the linen was clean & bed fairly comfy ! Everything else has deteriorated badly since we stayed in May 2010 . Oh - Dogs allowed is another good point. The restaurant was open until 10pm , but was being cleared by 9.20pm around us while we ate our main course . The food had to be returned (though to be fair the Pasta was good but very small portion like a starter & expensive ! ) , The room was dirty & falling apart - parts of the flooring in the bathroom were missing , the bath panel had been "pushed in" ,the bath was very chipped, shower had pieces missing from it leaving sharp edges , the desk area had veneer stripped, the doors were dirty , the paintwork dirty & badly chipped.- signs of damp in room . If we had not been so tired on arrival after a long drive , we would have sought a different hotel . There is another Campanille nearer Futurescope
Good value for money
ease of access from the motorway.choise of food from the buffet ,good choice of wine ok
Wonderful staff, very charming room. Excellent price and location.
The bedroom was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The breakfast was fine.
Helpfullness of proprieteress Lovely room
very clean rooms and easy access at night.
Excellent and helpful hosts. Exterior looks drab but due to being on main road, in a city not lack of attention
Not being rushed at breakfast; breakfast outside; lovely lady owner. No
Easy to find the location, excellent for stop-over Rooms are up-stairs, no elevators, so you have to carry up the laggages.
location for train station Asked for twin beds but got a double
good location near to the train station and car rent companies, comfortable, clean, very friendly, nice tv, and have a kettle to make tea and coffe in your room (normally the french hotel does not have this service). nothing
clean, comfortable room, proximity to the train station, helpful staff
Very helpful and polite staff. Dated/lack of coffe or tea making facilities.
The room was comfortable and fairly sizeable. The staff was helpful; between my broken French and their broken English, we were able to communicate. Parking is in a garage next to the train station across the street. There is a three-spot, 10 minute, check-in parking in front of the hotel. Wifi was straight forward and easy to use; ask for the codes at the front desk. There was nothing wrong with the hotel. My on-line map location was off by 500 meters, so it was a little difficult to find. The hotel is located at the very bottom of Blvd Solferino across from the train station, below the old city rampart.
Very convenient position and staff very helpful (as our French is not good). Also although no parking directly at the hotel there were facilities within 2 minutes to use the multi-storey car park which was secure and only cost 5 Euros per 24 hours arranged by hotel. We found this very useful. N/A
Very pleasant staff. Breakfast good value. Central. Convenient. Would have liked tea and coffee making facilities in room.
Good location free internet in the lobby Next time I would prefer a room without carpet on the floor of the room. This gives a fresher impression.
They let my friends leave their luggage their while we went out on the town. smelled a little funny
I found the staff very helpful. there was no air conditioning in the rooms and the weather was exceptionally hot I asked for a fan and one was found immediately. The rooms were very small. There were no plates for breakfast so had to use a saucer. Looking at the picture when booking this Hotel it looked like a huge frontage but in fact it is a tiny door this needs to be made clearer because when you are in a town that is unfamiliar you are looking for the picture you have seen not a tiny door that took us a while to see.
A very nice hotel and very helpful staff. Nice breakfast
It is in a very convenient location, near the railway station. We did not hear any trains! A bit cramped for space in room and bathroom.
Great location in city centre.
A friendly hotel situated in the centre of town.
Centrally located and close to restauarants and bars. The hotel was well presented from the front with plenty of flowers on the walls Very tired inside, small bathroom. Although central, it was impossible to find amid a new one way system that the town was not prepared for. There were bollards everywhere, some signs had changed but all the road markings were pointing you in the wrong direction. There were stationary queues everywhere. Also, if it was stated somewhere that the hotel is situated in the main town square, but that the Rue le Plat d'Etain is actually an ally under an arch attached to the theatre, it would have saved us hours. Also, breakfast and parking added on to the price made it expensive
A fantastic central location perfect for exploring the town. Very helpful and friendly staff. Would have been good to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Very old not very clean, withput lift.
Reception staff on arrival and departure; good breakfast The hotel decor needs attention; the interior design, choice of colour etc is very dull and has no charm; the hotel seems poor and does not promote its excellent position in the centre of Poitiers - this affects our attitude, despite the kind attention of staff; a recommendation for future use would therefore be difficult.
Convenient town centre location with parking. Great staff and breakfast. It is worth noting (as clearly stated on the hotel email) that you cannot check-in until after 1700 at weekends.
Neaqr the motorway to Paris
Friendly staff and ideal location some noise from room upstairs - an elephant I think...
A hotel with lots of character and a very convenient central location.
Some of staff members were very friendly, helpful, and spoke English well. A couple did not. It was close to University of Poitiers, which is where the conference was located. While there was supposed to be air conditioning in the room, it really only worked as a fan. It was set at 16 C and the temperature never got below 25 C. In the lobby and hallway it was cooler
The fact that we have a room for 4 people (our children are 17 and 23) and there was plenty of space for us all and all the beds were large and comfortable - this made the trip much cheaper that booking 2 separate rooms
Unfortunately we did not arrive early enough to take advantage of the pool. The resturant however was brilliant and the selection of food, particularly the starters was varied and well planned. The port hole window between the bedroom and bathroom was slightly unusual as you could the outline and movement of the person using the bathroom.
Staff very friendly and efficient. Set up dinner reservations convieniently Dinner was very good. Baggage was looked after and sent for pick up at train. Overall a very good experience and well organized for us. Porthole into bathroom not a good idea and the glass shower break does not keep water contained well. Shuttle to Futuroscope could have run a little longer.
effecient directions to location not easy to follow
Comfort and cleanliness of room. Bathroom was exceptional. Lack of choice on children's menu.
The room The service and facilities
choice of resturants was limited, for familys with young children
Convenient for the visit to Futuroscope. Most of the staff only speaks French (and this also happens in Futuroscope!)
Clean, comfortable, warm with TV.Bar and breakfast available. Not far from town centre. Great, especially after along drive to get there. Did not stay long enough to make true comment, but absolutely no issues to note.Friendly staff. English speaking and interested in guests.
The proprietors were very friendly and helpful and kindly booked a restaurant on our behalf. The accommodation was very basic however for the price paid represented good value for money. I would happily use again and recommend to others as 'fit-for-purpose' economy refuge.
very clean and good value
located in commercial area, ok for one night if you cannot find anything else, F1 equivelent, at 46 euros it was expensive compared to others we stayed at for the same price at a much higher standard. located in commercial area, ok for one night if you cannot find anything else, F1 equivelent, at 46 euros it was expensive compared to others we stayed at for the same price at a much higher standard.
