Gorgeous bathroom; fantastic buffet breakfast, great staff unheated outdoor pool, indoor pool not available to hotel guests
Hotel Cascais Miragem was everything I was after - fantastic location, wonderful views and professional, helpful and efficient staff. Only a short walk to main centre, provided guests the flexibility of eating at the many local restaurants or enjoying the wonderful facilities of the hotel. The transfer from airport was a short distance by taxi which was perfect for a short break. The outdoor pool was a key bonus with wonderful views of the coast. The key differentiator with Hotel Cascais Miragem was the outstanding service provided to get guests. A wonderful option for business events and something worth considering. Definitely back next year- thank you for a wonderful stay! N/A
I liked that fact that we were made very welcome and the staff were very friendly yet not over powering. yes, that we had only 4 nights in the hotel and we could have stayed longer.
Everything is very nice, staff very helpful. Roadworks outside but this is only temporary. Sometimes you have to wait too long for taxe but this is not the fault of the hotel. Breakfast is good but scrambled eggs are powered egg not real ones.
very high standard for the service. Location is good but very close to a construction area and therefore quite noisy. Great breakfast some services were missing: 1) gym. To use the gym you should undergo a medical visit by a Portugues doctor. In addition the Gym was not in-house 2) bycicles. A popular way of visiting the cost of Cascais is the bycicle. The hotel should provide some for the guests.
3 main things: 1) the bathroom! I want one :) 2) the design of the hotel. Even though it was on a busy road, the rooms look on to the ocean, and you can't tell. 3) beautiful facilities. I was in a conference and did not leave the hotel for 3 days. I've been stuck in a hotel before, and I could only wish that they were all like the Miragem.
Good atmosphere, central location, value for money Lack of ancillary games facilities e.g. table tennis, tennis etc.
Premium modern 5 star hotel overlooking the sea with our own balcony!! Exceptional buffet breakfast. Reasonably priced 5 star dining with excellent attentive serving staff. the free wi-fi internet connection only limited to public area and slow connection.
The most beautiful of hotels. Attention to detail extraordinary. Very relaxing with a beautiful pool area. Food was excellent and the staff were exceptional. The walk from the hotel to the village involved crossing a very busy duel carriagsway. This would not normally be the case but their is a large construction project taking place next door.
Location The service was inconsistent with the standard a five star hotel. The staff were very unhelpful and unapproachable. EG We ordered lunch and received the wrong food Breakfast service was appalling had to practically chase a waiter to get a coffee - tables were not set which resulted in having to forage for cultery and napkins. We were offered eggs one day and none the next. We ordered cocktails in the bar one night and the were not given the wat we ordered we did not return the cocktails as we feared a reprisal. I wanted to use the iron and was told the hotel did not have a travel iron!! We ordered water by the pool and received a plastic bottle whilst other guests were presented with a water bottle in an ice bucket - with glasses etc We suspected that the lack of service may have been attributed to the fact that we did not speak Portuguese but we noticed that most of the other guests communicated to the staff in English.
The location and being a boutique hotel, was small and friendly. The staff were eager to be helpful and made you welcome. It's been operating for approx 8 years and could use an upgrade. It was also expensive for what it offered and even charged 3euro for each coffee in your room.
Internet access.good bar. Poor lighting-not geared businessman
The ambience, the location and the friendliness of the staff
The pool and staff were great. All the food and drinks we had during our stay were very good. I think it is very overpriced for what you get.
Just stayed here for 5 nights...beautiful boutique style hotel with modern design yet still has all the original features of the old building. The pool area is fabulous...the view out over the rocks and the sea is amazing and its very relaxing to sit out all day and watch the sun go down. The restaurant for breakfast is really good again with spectacular views out to sea. Dinner is a must as the food is 5* in the restaurant. Service in the hotel is excellent whether at the pool, bar, restaurant. Location to Cascais is perfect as the hotel is located right beside the marina which has some lovely restaurants to visit and its less than 10 minutes stroll into Cascais. Only negative is that our bathroom was tiny..small complaint though!
I was really pleased with the Farol Design Hotel overall. I thought the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and modern in design. I very much enjoyed the brunch with the sea-side view. Overall, I'd give this hotel a very high rating and would love to stay there if I returned to Cascais, Portugal. It would have been nice if the pool area had a hot tub/jacuzzi in addition to the pool. The pool water was very cold and didn't really match up in quality compared to the rest of the hotel.
Absolutely stunning location with attentive, helpful staff and a very relaxed atmosphere. Expensive but pure bliss lounging on their four-poster sunbeds, wine glass in hand, watching the crashing Atlantic waves. Also, great base for easy visits to Lisbon (by train) and Sintra (by bus).
Position of hotel good. Front desk staff not very welcoming, laundrey taken from room without form being filled in, overcharged at poolside bar, ordered taxi to take to airport and got private hire car at double price without being asked, too many "outside" functions, such as weddings disrupting guests. Room small. This hotel is overrate and overpriced.
The view. The design. The quietness of the surrounding. Closets are oldfashioned and need redone. Maybe not enough light in the room.
It's a very beautiful hotel with a wonderful staff, who spoke English, so it was easy to communicate with them. I would like to have seen the brunch last a little bit longer. They closed it off at 10:30 and I'm used to brunches in the states going much longer.
The hotel is beautiful and the spa was relaxing. Front desk is friendly and helpful. Location was great, across from the water and walking distance into town. The attention to detail in the pool area needs improvement. It was not busy and not used much since it was off season, however, during our 3 day stay empty glasses and bottles lying on the ground by the pool were never once picked up, nor was the concrete flooring around the pool swept or hosed off so your feet got full or grit if you walked barefoot to the pool. This is not acceptable at a 5 star resort. Also seemed odd that you had to walk upstairs to reception to obtain a pool towel.
quiet and relaxing unfortunately I was ill for part of my stay so was unable to enjoy the full experience
high quality rooms and general facilities poor breakfast (cold, hot food) and expensive. Hard unyieding bed.
Good atmosphere and very nicely presented. Very friendly staff.
Nice, large room with a comfterble feeling. Nice ,helpfull staff. Beautiful surondings A little bit away from the centrum
Staff, design... i liked everything! Everything was perfect.
Absolute luxury. Rooms, service and location all top class.
The Staff and Hotel were both Fantastic. Very good service, Friendly staff, Very Good Piano Players I really enjoyed the stay and would return.
Position and staff helpfulness
Nice quiet hotel with excellent facilities Had to wait till 4.30pm to check in as room was not ready
The Hotel was very good, the room was quiet and comfortable, it was to the side, not overlooking the pool, The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was also good.
All Good Yes,we are golfers and the course is sub standard, we would not come again.
The staff were very polite and friendly and were happy to help at all times. When we told them we had to leave early in the morning to catch a flight they offered to make us a complementary breakfast for us to take with us. No
Quiet and far from traffic. Pure nature, especially popular among golfers. Standard room and SPA too small. Every room service charged with +€ 7.50.
L'occitane products in bathroom. Very expensive for what you get!!! No good value for money. We got a room next to a road which was quite busy, even at nighttime. Kids were feeding ducks in the swimming pool at breakfast time. On pictures looks like a very quiet hotel.
quality of rooms atmosphere in evenings; soulless
We chose the location for a golf holiday, which would also allow us to visit Lisbon city. There is a nice golf course, and the you can also benefit from discounted rates on nearby courses (Oitavos, Penha Longa). Breakfast is very good and varied. Missing a casual restaurant for the evening. Internet access is quite expensive. Also, if your room is not in the same aisle as the spa, you have to go either outside or through the lobby to get to the indoor swimming pool (no access between aisles on level 1 and level 2).
Facilities were excellent, room was excellent, staff very helpful and friendly. Hotel charges extra for everything, water is 5 euro, internet is 10 euro per half hour. Everthing was extra and expensive.
The staff were all very kind and helpful and made us welcome. The views are beautiful. The golf course is very good. The Rocca restaurant food is excellent. We enjoyed the pianist's music in the evenings. There is a lot of building work going on in the vicinity of the hotel. The countryside is in danger of being lost. The former Cosi Fan Tutti Italian restaurant which was run by the hotel is much missed but we understand there are plans for a new one in the future.
Location, atmosphere Staff is borderline rude, not friendly.
Spacious room/comfortable beds, pool area, pool towels, room cleaning service, hot food at breakfast was actually hot, bus service to Cascais or scenic walk to Cascais Reception area drab, bar/lobby area dull-not conducive to having drink/socialising there.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. Had good access to the town and the beaches. The hotel also had bus service to the local train station and it was very convinent to use. On the whole we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
The facilites at the hotel are very good - really enjoyed the indoor as well as outdoor pool. Front of house staff were all extremely friendly Bring a bath mat!! Getting out of bath is a bit tricky - it can be very slippy after your shower
The location is excellent, the staff are friendly, the other guests are friendly. Bus connections to the town later in the evening would be a big improvement
Warm reception, nice service, good price. There is a big swimming pool with covered area and open air area, there is also a SPA, a nice restaurant and an excelllent sea view (extra cost)
Very comfortable. Enjoyed free of charge transfer to Cascais. Breakfast could be better.
The pool and sunbed arrangement was excellent. nice pool restaurant.
The helpfulness and friendly attitude of the staff. Reception dealt with all my requests quickly and entirely to my satisfaction Either repair the projection screen in the lounge area or throw it away. It is awful and impossible to watch. Spoils the area
Helpful and pleasant staff, None
Only drawback was the proximity to the main road - there was some traffic noise while sitting by the pool, but it really wasn't a big problem
Excellent personal, just beside to very excellent restorant Guinchio at ocean Just perfect hotel
Level of service/location/comfort
I thought the Hotel was a delight. Perfectly situated, small and intimate, it was run by an exceptionally friendly team. A real gem of a place.
Pleasant location - slightly out of Cascais but still easy to access. Slight problem with our room on the first evening but this was quickly resolved and we were upgraded to another room. Couldn't use bar area on first night as there was a private function in there
The relaxing location The public transport was rather infrequent.t
The location is stunning and the staff made us feel very welcome. No
Hotel looks beautiful & cozy, like a small luxury hotel. The stuff is extremely kind & helpful. The food is delicious. Nice ocean view from some rooms, from the salon and from the terrace of the restaurant. The rooms are not sufficiently soundproofs which can be a real problem if you have a loud neighbor or if he/she is to get up early, etc. You have to have a car or to be sportive - the hotel is located about 4 km from Cascais and about the same from the sandy beach Guincho. Spa facilities are a bit limited.
staff never seen anything like it (positive) in portugal
Breakfast was brilliant, fabulous views, pool area was nice Our room was beside the entrance on the ground floor so it was quite noisy
Breakfast and the pool area and the view I thought the bathroom cleanliness was not up to standard
Early Check out was slow and I had tried to sort out my bill the night before and was told it would take a couple of minutes in the morning
Hotel retro, still with the 60´s and 70´s style. I was there with my parents during the 60´s, I come back 30 years late and it looks the same. Need a update urgently, specially in rooms and toiletts. The lobby can keep the same style, it looks nice!
Was only there briefley, did not have breakfast or evening meal. Used the bar which was comfortable with friendley bar staff I think wireless was on offer but could not get it in the room.
The pool and staff were lovely. Although the rooms were old-fashioned, they had everything we needed and were very comfortable. Good breakfast too. Some people commented about the hill that you have to walk up when you are coming back from the town centre but it is not bad at all. Good exercise after eating out!! All rooms had balcony or terrace. The rooms could be modernised but are very comfortable.
n/a did not like the condition of the bathroom, no ventalation, did not no the number to call for reception.
hotel was very clean and rooms cleaned everyday. Pool was very enjoyable with the hotel snack bar close by. hotel was near very noisy road and the hill back up to the hotel every night was annoying
Good view, large pool, good location - close to cascais center, the ocean and the lighthouse sometimes it can get noisy from traffic.
Staff were extremely helpful at all times. We had heard that hotel was very far from seafront but this is not the case - only 8 to 10 minutes Felt that the exterior could be cleaned up - it does not give a good impression of the interior which has a lot of character
the view and excellent staff, Miguel Philipe and Claudia
Nice quiet hotel with plesant pool area and goldfish pond, lots of plants and trees. Rooms cleaned everyday and clean towels.
The hotel was convenient to the Estoril Casino, some shopping and the beach. The staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is old and hasn't been updated in a long time. Seems a little grimy and faded. However, it was also quite inexpensive for the area and for its location, and has a sort of shabby charm.
freindly staff, beautiful sea veiw.quiet peacful very relaxing.
The room and space was very good. The view over Estoril was wonderful. The style of the hotel was particularly good. The directions to the hotel were not easy to follow - we had a car without GPS.
the swimmingpool was good. good breakfest it looks old the carpets in the hall should be renewd.
the location is perfect. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is small and personal the carpet in our bedroom was badly stained.During the last hour of breakfast, depending on which member of staff was on duty, it was difficult to find a table as used tables were not cleared
Excellent location, very accessible to Cascais without the exorbitant prices charged there. Extremely clean and quiet. Only two things comes to mind: 1) a not very comfortable pillow (very important to a comfortable sleep) 2) I feel that the Internet use should be automatic and at no extra cost when registering at the hotel.
The whole of the "Garden Wing" needs urgent refurbishment. It is definitely not of a four star standard
Fabulous small pool
The overall atmosphere was absolutely perfect. Our room was a bit small but probably normal for European Guest Homes. Very clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfasts each morning were much better than expected & our hosts both gracious and friendly Although we love to walk we did find the little town of Cascais at bit far to walk to for dinner especially after touring around all day. The taxi was very reasonable to the Charm of Cascais.
Spectacular hotel, very special with uninterrupted views, felt very spoilt for the few days we were there.Food was excellent and not overpriced for such quality, service and most importantly view... Pool small and railing around edge of cliff face should have vertical rails not horizontal rails.
Wonderful ambience and unobrtrusive service. No
The level of service was excellent - in fact probably the most professional I have seen in recent years. The location is wonderful.
The location was great--just a few minutes walk from train station and right on the ocean. There was a beautiful stoned path to walk along the ocean for 30 minutes.
Great location No
location breakfast bedroom
The view from the hotel terraces is superior. We have received a room that had a superior view over a city but was located next to huge airconditioning units for the hotel and whole shopping mall located on floors below the hotel (literally 10 meters on the same level/ level below). Therefore romantic nights on the tarace where not with city background noise but with quite dominant "pumping" noise of the airconditioning station units. We don't smoke and the fact that next to our terrace was a terrace used by staff to have a cigarette breaks was also a minus. Service was not at the level you expect from the boutique hotel e.g. we were not informed about dinner arrangements.
The location was superb ,with amazing views and only a few seconds stroll to shops and restaurants. train staion very handy for going into lisbon. the staff very helpful and courteous. we will return.
In nice part of town, friendly atmosphere not tempted by the menu in the restaurant, a bit too fancy and service took quite a long time for lunch.
The location and quality of this hotel are outstanding. It is an expensive hotel but you get good value for money.
Very well located in Cascais with immediate beach access. Train station (for connecting to central Lisbon) 1 minute walk away and local shopping & restaurant area adjacent to hotel. Sufficiently small (60 rooms) to treat its guests as individuals and sufficiently large to provide the services a 5*-hotel should.. The staff is very friendly and guest-focused and combine professional and personal warmth. Will happily return not only as a business-visitor but also for private visits.
The breakfast was excellent We found the hotel rather soulless, lacking in warmth and character. The access to the hotel was difficult to find when arriving and there was only one route to Cascais when walking. We found this rather long winded
The breakfast All services were very good but the location was next to a beer garden. This apparantly had a licence to play loud music until 1:30 am even on a Sunday morning. With a long journey the following day i needed a good nights sleep but with the room vibrating, this was impossible and made even worse when the music finished as some of the hotel guests had obviously been there and continued to laugh loudly until 03:30am.On any holiday, a good nights sleep is of paramount importance and it is for this reason that I would never recommend this hotel to anyone until they can get the music licence cancelled or drastically reduced.
Nice pool area The beds were not good
Room had an amazing sea view
Well appointed with comfortable room, good standard of service. Reception Staff particularly helpful, as indeed were all the staff in the dining room and the pool bar A little short on car parking space
Location suggests privacy and quiet Noise. On three nights, Fri ,Sat ,Sun loud music from adjoining premises interfered with sleep. Hotel management were resigned to situation and were not helpful.
Our room stunk of smoke!! Everywhere you went especially when yoiu were eating there was people smoking in your face! Great apart from that.
The hotel is suituated in an ideal location with staff that are excellent. My wife is a coeliac and without any special request the staff we able to get gluten free bread and ceral without any fuss which is usually a major problem when staying in hotels. No complaints
The sitaution of the hotel The queues for a breakfast table.
Enormously large rooms; modern interior; perfect quisine
I very much enjoyed my stay at the hotel and the staff and the quality of the food was excellent. I hope i have the pleasure of staying there in the near future. Many Thanks I thought the size of the food plate at breakfast was to small it was like a side plate as a result you are eating off two or three plates at a time.
Service was excellent and all the staff were very pleasant and helpful. the prices of drinks was expensive.
extremely friendly staff. The only suggestion i would have for the hotelmanagement is to install some extra computers for hotelguests. Only one slightly outdated pc was available.
The hotel was low-key and off-the-beaten path. It's close enough to Cascais and yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle. It would have been nice if the hotel had a beach presence, meaning, an area reserved fro hotel guests, including chaise lounges and parasols.
The Palacio Hotel is well named as it is indeed a Palace. We stayed in a room with a balcony which had a wonderful view. The staff were excellent, friendly and spoke very good English. The Four Seasons Restaurant was fabulous and well worth a visit.
The staff was extremely polite and helpful... The breakfast (included) was excellent and abundant... the room was beautifully furnished.
Everything about our stay was fantastic and luxurious! Breakfast was divine, spa was amazing as was hotel pool.
Great service, wonderful location, terrific cuisine
Everything Construction next to the hotel - noise
quiet and close to beach
Professional and friendly staff Nothing
It was very quiet. Maybe because out of season. The staff were very helpful when our car was causing problems. Thought thereshould be a restaurant in the evening if you didn't have a car but it forced us to eat out which was excellent.
quiet , decoration from appartement was very nice , a lot of space the furniture on the terrace , not comfortable enough
everything breakfast too poor for the price 15€/person
Peaceful relaxing setting. Beautifully decorated reception area and rooms. Little bit too far away from cascais to walk, but could get a taxi for 5 euros
Great hotel with terrific rooms. Well appointed
Excellent service and facilities. In particular the spa and gym area. Nice gardens and very cleaned and well maintained rooms.
Hotel facilities, service, and overall quality of premises. I was a returning visitor and plan to return again in the future
Very spacious rooms; staff were very helpful; the place looks fantastic and the pool is very well thought out for children Quality and range of food available was not good
Quiet. Facilities. Comfort.
Excellent Hotel! We only can recommend it. Breakfast too expensive, but good.
the staff was absolutely wonderful - helped us plan our next step to sintra and called hotels for us, gave us recommendations and were just generally very eager to help. one woman in particular, who unfortunately i don't remember the name of, but she had quite short hair and spoke very good english. obviously the location right on the beach and right in between cascais and sintra was excellent as well.
All facilities, even simple ones (electrical sockets in the room, refrigerator, shower) either did not work or were in a very poor state. Breakfast menu very poor, orange juice more or less like a coloured tab water.
The location and the beautiful hotel
We had a room right on the beach. It was a very quirky hotel with friendly staff. I fyou are looking for something different in the sandhills this is your place. Great surfing. Found it very empty in October. It must buzz in season with two huge restaurants and big bars but was very empty
Perfect location for getting away from it all, very friendly staff, stylish decor with period furniture, lovely food at the restaurant, a very special atmosphere you can never find at brand chain hotels. One can find faults with everything, in my opinion, the good at this hotel strongly overweighs some minor things like a door chain off the hinge or so.
Ocean view. Old furniture. It looks more as a boarding house than a hotel. Poor breakfast. No hairdryer in the room.
I like only the view.
we loved it- the founder of this hotel must have been an artist - loved the use of wood- loved how the pool area fitted so well into the environment - loved the old world athmosphere - loved everything about it!
This is a fabulous older hotel on a great beach. The hotel is in the middle of a Nature Reserve so the surrounding area is fantastic for those naturalists who want a look at an outstanding dune ecosystem, with lots of amazing plants. It's only about a 40 minute drive from Lisbon but is far away from the hustle of high traffic tourist areas. We were absolutely delighted and would definetely recommend this hotel highly.
The geography Real juice at the breakfast would be an improvement - it's a five star hotel
Great location, room was updated and very clean. The building was old but we thought that it was cool and authentic. The restaurant was alright for dinner and there are several other options in walking distance. Overall I'd stay again.
Helpfull staff, good rooms The cramped breakfast area
This was our 2nd time this year in this hotel and we would go back again. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The location is excellent, minutes from the station; close to the casino and a lovely walk to Cascais The breakfast is a bit repetitive although very good. The room was not always as clean as it could be.
Staff very helpful, good value/money ratio. Comfort rooms, rich breakfast. In a four stars hotel I expected free wi-fi!!!
very good location, close to Casino and train station, bus station
location, weather, food was Ok, service in hotel, the room was clean and comfortable little ants in our breakfast table
Older lady on reception couldnt do enough for us. Breakfast excellent, view wonderful, location fantastic for trains (Lisbon, Cascais, wherever) and walking along the promenade to Cascais. Nothing, it was really great
Very convenient for beach, and travel by rail to Lisbon or Cascais Rooms could be sound proofed a bit more, as we were next to the lift, we could hear coming and going, and road / rail noise from the front. But these are quite minor complaints.
Excelent staff, very good facilities, and a good place to rest, with the beach nearby
Excellent breakfast, friendly staff. Rooms were a bit worn, but kept clean
Near the beach kasino and railway station.
The friendly, helpful staff. The excellent location
Excellent sevice at reception on arrival & they continued to be very helpful throughout our stay, the villa was very spotless nice large airy rooms, comfy beds & a very well equiped kitchen. the pool was 10ft fromm our terrace & very safe shallow end. The only drawback was the distance from caiscais we had hired & a car & we needed it at night as last bus home wwas at 8.25pm
I thought the complex was clean and very well run The only draw back being the bar and lounge was not open during our stay and we were a bit away from the town, so unless we made the trip into town every night we had to drink in the apartment
Onsite facilities eg laundry, hairdresser. Good pool facilities. Safe for families. No need to leave the resort if you didnt want to. Noice level between the chalets. Cleaners knocking on your door before midday. Should have a free shuttle bus into town on the hour every hour and back from also.
The extra effort the staff made when I told them we were on our 1st wedding anniversary. they made our villa very romantic and we had a wonderful time. Nothing really. I would of liked to have been able to light a fire on one of the cold and rainly days, but the shop only provides wood from Nov onwards.
We stayed in a Villa by the pool which provided us with a lovely aspect each morning as we sat and ate breakfast on the terrace. Our neighbours on either side were very considerate and there was no noise whatsoever. The amenities on site were very good and reasonably priced. There was coffee on the first day, then nothing after that. I also think that a small starter pack (reasonably priced) would be most welcome.
Spacious rooms, very clean, kitchen equipped with everything one may wish to have. Parking of your car is in front of your entrance. The place is very picturesque and beatiful A car is necessary to reach the beach. Internet is not free of charge
good size room, easy access
4 x repeater
access to pool, grocery store, cleanliness of villa, modern decoration of villa the front of the villas needed new paint
the villa was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bakery is excellent!! Unfortunately our hire car got dented and scratched on the premises during our stay but staff was very professional handling the incident.
Location was very convenient. Parking was difficult. The furniture in the rooms could be upgraded.
wide and clean room. location just near casino
the bathroom is very small (especially comparing to the size of the room itself); quite a poor selection for the breakfast
Friendliness of staff. Size of rooms. Nice breakfast buffet. Good selection of TV channels. Location. Keycard system. Wi-Fi Internet connection. Everything really. A 4* hotel in my opinion. I would definitely stay there again at a similar rate. One thing I always like in hotels is a minibar, which the Alvorada doesn't have, but that's a minor thing, which doesn't detract from the overall experience.
spotlessly clean, comfortable, convenient, spacious, quiet, helpful staff, good facilities and kind enough to leave us our room until 3 o clock also very near to beach, train station and casino of course!
The overall experience was lovely. Staff friendly, good location to casino and beach. Nothing I can think of.
Big clean room with nice big balcony (but actually I've seen some other rooms were very little). Close
