the ritz club lounge the pool was closed without notice, no Spa and people were allowed in the club lounge without even being guests of the ritz.
This place had quite poor level comparing to other RITZ hotels I used to stay in. Breakfast was awful.
Front desk could not locate booking made on hotels.com
This facility offers very comfortable beds and an excellent morning breakfast buffet. It's my go-to hotel when I am in Shanghai on business. My room had a clear space for an iron, but it was missing. The hair dryer was cracked and broken, though it still operated. The shower door did not close well, and after every usage, there would be a significant puddle of water on the floor outside the shower (or a fully soaked towel).
The bed linens. The layout and views from the room. the pool and spa rooms. the breakfast. The pool was very long but narrow so that no more than 3 or 4 people could swim at one time.
The room design was amazing. .
The Hotel is comfortable and clean. Very near the subway (Line 2) and easy to move around. The Counter Manager (Andrew) is very helpful in providing us with very clear instructions on how to move around the subway and to the places we wanted to go. The chambermaids were very thorough with their work and were curtious when they met us.
In general the hotel is well located, clean and for the time period in question (Shanghai Worl Expo), reasonably priced. Tricky as to breakfast coupon issued to guest. Assuming that breakfast is included (as I did) and if you used the coupon, hotel will charge you 170 RMB (about US$25 each) rather than the US$12 indicated by Booking.com. Front desk staff (one named "Fofanny") was rude and uncooperative and matter only get resolved thanks to Front Office Manager, Mr. Lance Mou.
the staff speak english and are very helpfull. the rooms are always clean and the location is perfect. spa is very expensive and is ten times what you get for the same service a few steps outside the hotel.
The Spa was perfect and well kept.Good flexibility in leaving room time. Good value for the Money. Overall carpet in room very old and dirty.
Close to railway station. Nice shower. Air conditioning not great. No bath
The location, modern ambiance, value for money, services/ facilities are all good. I have booked again en route back to Australia and provided the rates do not become too expensive I will use this hotel again on busines trip to Shanghai - I travel to China/ Shanghai every two months. The air conditioning temperature in room is set too high and I was not able to adjust the temperature. The sevice engineer seemed not to understand my complaint and I spent a week in a 'warm' room. I believe internet should be free of charge as it is in most five star hotels these days.
There is a very little member of staff at the reception compared to the number of rooms causing some delays if you needed some help at the peak time. All the rest was very good. This hotel is very good value for money.
the rooms were very comfortable, beautiful bathroom hotel staff should improve English (as everywhere in China)
Excellent location close to many facilities, very friendly staff - not always speaking english but willing to assist you Very high cost for use of internet! Very noisy - some kind of turbines working day and night just outside our window!
The King Size bed. Avoid the Chinese massage place at the 3rd floor.
I appreciate the hotel's housekeeping staff very much. I found it so difficult to communicate with concierge staff in English. It would be more convenient if there were some staff at your front desk who can speak English well so that English- speaking guests like me will recommend your hotel to others.
The location of the hotel is very good to visit the shopping area of the city and it is not noisy at all even if close to the roadway. Staff is nice and helpful whenever their English is quite poor for a 4 stars hotel. Breakfast is not included and costs too much. Fridge bar inexistant. Room to small for being a deluxe. Then I personally did not like (my man yes of course!) the presence of too many easy going women at the bar during the night........................
the facilities are nice and clean, definitely not 5 star but good value for money the internet is expensive and very slow, for 15.-$/day service should be working well. The breakfast organisation is a disaster
Seemed to be pretty clean and down town. I came from the airport and it was a pretty long drive but all seemed good The building was very cold even after running the heater all night. The bed wasn't all that comfortable.
hotet staff very poor hotel staff
The rooms are very big and the cleanliness is the best in China The hotel staff is not polite and not helpful. They are more interest in getting their job done easily rather than the interest of the guest. The service standard is very poor and the tone of voice of the staff is very very unpolite. I have never had this kind of bad service in an Inter Con hotel before. Even the expat managers were not helpful...
Excellent hotel in close vicinity of the Shanghai Rail station, spacious room and perfect bathroom
Room was very good.
It's proximity to the Shanghai Station is a plus point for making day trips to Nanjing and Zhenjiang from which I could be picked up to go to shipyards in the Nanjing and Yangzhou area.
The location was great, 10 min walk to the shopping street. hotel is renoveted and cosy. very comfortable. Staff does not speak english well.
We stayed at the hotel because of its age and historical nature which in itself was very interesting, yet was one of the major downfalls. We are historical buffs and collect antiques. We were told we couldn't take pictures of hotel due to historical preservation reasons. Yet daily there were multiple couples having wedding pictures taken throughout the hotel, including outside our 2nd floor room Were in 3 different rooms in a 5 night stay. 1st night - checked into room which had not been cleaned. Found it to be extremely noisey due to staff and guests from private dining areas. Never book 2nd floor rooms in old building. 2nd floor hallway used by staff to go to new building and by private dining guests going to the restroom. Never were contacted by management when complaints were made. Was allowed to move to quieter room. 'Clean' sheets had human hair. Was unable to stand up on 1/2 of room. Had to move to 3rd room. due to plumbing problems after the toilet started leaking. After expressing concerns over occurring issues, we were not contacted by managment, which indicated wedding celebrations were more important.
Very special atmosphere, cosy and noble design, warm hotel staff attitide. I will highly recommend this hotel to friends
good to see hotel in old-time building! differently than in China so accustomed skyscrapers
The proximity to all the sites I wanted to photograph was great. I could easily walk where I wanted to go. It was also a short walk from the Subway line that links the train station and the airport to the city. Where shall I start? I had a "king bed suite". It was "2 stories" (one of them being a loft where the mattress on the floor was located. There was no bed frame, no box spring nor mattress cover. Just a mattress on the floor with a fitted bedsheet, a duvet and a pillow. There was no night stand either (useless with a mattress on the floor). The janitorial staff was cleaning the stairwells at 2:30am..and the walls were "rice paper thin"...you could hear everything in all the other rooms. So glad it was only one night.
For the money it had a clean bathroom lots of hot water and a good clean bed. We had to buy breakfast but very reasonable. The staff were more than willing to help. And it was close to the train shopping and the Bund. I would go back. For the price I won't complain about anything.
I can't say enough good things about this place: I got a suite with kitchen, living room and bedroom for 80 bucks a night. The staff were fantastic, always friendly and responsive. Fast internet (ADSL line), huge bath-tub, big flat screen TV with DVD player, fully equipped kitchen. And the location is on a quiet side-street very close to the Jing An temple and Jiu Guang Dept store. Perfect for me.
Very convenient position, adjacent to Jing An Temple and metro station. Comfortable well-equipped apartment. Very helpful English-speaking staff. Altogether, excellent place to stay in Shanghai and good value for money No adverse comment
The location was great and the apartment really felt like you were living in Shanghai. Also the staff was super friendly and helpful. The floors were a little dirty. They could improve the cleaning a little bit. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't spotless either.
This is good for longterm stay. Not best fit for short biz trip like my case..
The location is good and metro is just 200 meters from the hotel. There are a lot of shops around the hotel so it is very convenient~~ no wifi
i am 6 years old. i came with my mummy. they have a fab swimming pool. As you'll see from the above my son loved it - the service was great and they did little things to make his first trip to Shanghai really special. The service was first rate - nothing was too much trouble and the library of DVDs was great for when all the sightseeing and swimming got too much. It was handy for the metro so we got about easily and is also fairly near a great vegetarian restaurant called Vegetarian Life which he loved too.
The hotel staff were vere polite and always greeted the guests with a smile. They were always happy to help when you called them at reception desk as well. Room was clean and comfortable too. Breakfast selection was too limited. Food was not fantastic either. Buffet lunch selection was even worse.
This was the only hotel we found in Shangahi that had rooms with two beds in it for a family of 4. It is brand new and everything is beautiful! It is about 10 minutes from downtown in a taxi. The people who worked there were helpful and friendly. Great for families and has a lovely indoor pool with a good breakfast. It seemed a little pricey, but similar to other hotels we checked in the area. I booked a suite because on the website it stated it was the only room that had two beds in it. When we arrived they said the suite only has one king bed. I asked if there were any rooms that had two beds and they said yes, but it wasn't a suite. I stated that it was fine, so they changed the booking and gave us the room with the two beds, it was even cheaper which was a bonus.
Excellent service, especially at the front desk. Pls do not order the chinese cuisine from the in-room dining menu. the sandwiches are far better which is a ironical when we are in China.
