I always adore that special white tea smell of the westin. The building itself was beautiful... All glass...the girl w the red hair in the front was super sweet and as always the hotel room was very clean and well kept. Always love the Westin!
super clean, friendly staff wish they had a jacuzzi
Nothing Booked 5 weeks ahead of time, confirmed my reservation via email the day before and was still double booked and unable to stay at the hotel. Poor business practice to do that to people.
Almost everything about it was amazing Their pool facility does not have a hot tub
The bed was very hard. The room service was a disaster. They gave us bread with fungus!! and a pitch of water to make coffe!!
Check in staff was friendly and helpful. Elevators did not work.
Kind helpful staff
Gorgeous hotel, updated and clean, showers mediocre, must try salted caramel cake. 30 min taxi to rail. No airport shuttle offered.
The hotel was clean and had all the amenities you might need during your stay. Parking garage has in and out privileges. Hotel is quiet & beds are comfortable. There is a Dunkin' Donuts across the street. Don't stay here if you are hoping to be close to Boston. It's definitely outside the city. It is easy to find though. It's located just off the highway.
Value for money.
I enjoyed the continental breakfast was excellent. The bathroom tub held water in the tub. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay.
location and price
The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly, the hotel was quiet, the breakfast was very good, and the hotel was located close to downtown Boston without the downtown Boston price tag. One of the hotel elevators didn't work.
Was the cheapest in the neighborhood, though still not cheap, imho. Street signs could be a lot clearer at the nearby corners. There should be signs at the parking lot exit to give you a clue.
size of the room The bar/resturant in the hotel didn't look open at any point when I past it and breakfast was of a low standard
It was clean, the restaurant was pretty good as well overall value good Weird size toilet in bathroom, like something you'd find in a kindergarten bathroom and shower rod was hanging by command strips.
Restaurant was great. Like having a mini fridge and microwave in the room. Staff were friendly. Very small bathroom and toilet was really low to the ground.
very friendly staff internet connection could be improved, sometimes very slow
Not much The place just felt dirty. Floor was a little sticky. The place looked worn out. I arrived around midnight. No-one was at the desk but there was a sign saying will be right back. Went to the phone to call and it didn't work. The wash cloth (white) was kind of gray. Maybe something was wiped up with it washed and put back in service. Was noticeable next to the other real white wash cloth, Towels were rough except for the two bath towels I used. I will usually wake up early and do some work. I couldn't. I showered, shaved and went to work early.
Bed was very comfortable, staff was terrific. Bathroom needed some cleaning and the one of the towels had a big yellow stain on it .
The staff was very helpfull with directions and knowledge of surroundings Tv had lost signal a few times...
It was very easy to access and extremely clean and friendly. No hastle whatsoever I didn't see any
Hotel was clean, in convenient location, and included Wifi and free parking.
We never ended up going.there was a snow storm and i was stuck 2hrs away with no refund
The room was comfortable, clean. The bed was comfortable and the bedspread was white and very clean. That gave me alot of comfort knowing that the prads are washed often. There was a restaurant which was very good , but the menu was rather limited.
Staff was good and helpful The king bed was in bad condition. The middle of the matress had an over use. It felt like a whole in the middle. As if someone very very heavy used it for a long time. I had a backache after just one night. All yhey need is to replace the mattress and it would be a great room to rent.
Spaceious room and bathroom, clean linen and rags. Heating system
Clean, easy to make reservation, friendly staff
None When I booked this online the charge was $189. I was charged 259 plus taxes. $314.74 Total. wow! What a rip off
Bed was comfortable Very small bathroom, Vent broken. Tv remote didn't work well.
I liked the price, especially for New Years Eve. I liked the guy at the front desk with the dress he was very polite and helpful. I like how everything was fairly new. I appreciated the free breakfast which was not too shabby at all. No pool
Room, rates, complimentary breakfast, staff assistance. Slow elevator
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The room was super clean with a very comfortable bed. The price was great. I would definitely stay here again. I wish they had a restaurant. There are few within walking distance. I ate at the cafe Marriott Courtyard next door. A sitdown restaurant to enjoy a meal and glass of wine would be ideal.
Breakfast Stained carpet
Very friendly staff! Great pool and whirlpool area! Beautiful room. One of the best fitness rooms I have seen in any hotel I have stayed at!
The hotel did not live up to it's description. It was shabby not boutique-like. Just an old hotel with choice of soap. The location, while convenient, was your basic strip mall surrounded by more strip malls. The parking fee was to park your own car in an open parking lot. They did not tell you that parking spaces next door were free. All in all, pretty annoying
The close proximity to the train station and Harvard Square, not to mention the cinemas and other shopping conveniences.
This hotel is undergoing renovation. It needs it. The ac unit in our room was clearly old and beat up. There were holes in the halls where new cables are being or will be run. There were screw holes in the bathroom and an outline around them on the wallpaper of something that used to be mounted there, but isn't anymore. The water in the bathtub drained too slowly, it filled while we took a showe
Location The rooms are old, they smell like stale cigarettes, and the gym is poorly equipped. Only one treadmill.
$12 parking fee. Outrageous for the location! The desk clerk did waive ours when I complained that we would be there for only 10 hours. The room price was rather high for the value.
Size of bed and location old building, tattie in need of a lot of repairs (some most be essential!!)
Free shuttle bus to Harvard Square
I loved that they provided us a cot for no extra charge, the beds were comfy, everything was very clean, people were nice, everything was great! I didn't like the expensive breakfast, it was pricey and not very good at all, maybe a free continental breakfast would have been nice.
Hotel was spacious and they had a Starbucks in the lobby To start they double charged me and it took over 12 hours to get my funds back and all the manager said was well I'm happy you got all of your funds back. Disregarding it was my birthday weekend and when they did that it overdrew my bank account and I was not able to do anything because they held my funds. On top of that the setup in the room was terrible you can't see the tv from your bed you have to sit on the couch. The tv was so old picture was terrible and screen kept going black so we changed rooms! last But not least after they cleaned my room my diamond earring went missing the manager on said they are looking into it and the lady who cleaned my room left and said she probably swept it up and they wouldn't find it ....we probably won't be back
Very clean and the bed was really comfortable. Loved having the Starbucks cafe but would have liked some sort of complimentary breakfast available. Great location for our purposes and loved the underground garage. Nothing
Was perfect for a night getaway to relax and unwind. The bed was so comfortable, you sank right in
Liked the spacious, clean, new room. Enjoyed working out in the fitness room. Close to Boston, N.H. and VT. Also, Waltham has a vibrant downtown with lots of good restaurant and interesting shops. No free breakfast.
One great thing about Harvard Square is the high energy and bustle, especially when school is in session. What makes The Charles so perfect is that it is a tranquil respite right on the edge of all the happenings.
The room was very drafty near the windows- lots of cold air coming in
The Charles Hotel is centrally located in Cambridge, so it's very easy to get around the town. We walked wherever we needed to go and got there quickly and easily. The hotel has several dining options and an actual fitness club, not just a room with some cardio equipment and universal equipment. The wifi works well and the staff were all very helpful. It's pretty expensive to stay here, but we found a good deal on one of the discount hotel sites. I'd return in a heart beat.
Great location near the center of Harvard Square. Rialto is an excellent restaurant. Regatta Bar is great if you like jazz. Hotel is in need of renovation. New England shabby-chic means it's just a basic hotel in terms of cleanliness and room amenities. Bathrooms are seriously dated and in need of complete redo. Service levels are mediocre. Business center is a joke (1 computer and an attached printer). Prices are very high: you are paying for the location.
Well decorated rooms. Convenient to Harvard square Officious front desk staff. Being told they couldn't change our departure and charges despite a family emergency because it was our fault we used a third party reservation service. Being told entirely dissimilar rooms were the same. Smelly comforter covered by clean sheets. No coffee maker in room. Ice available only on request from room service.
Location was great with excellent service and nice trait ants around in the plaza
Excellent service and superior restaurant. Very friendly staff who facilitated the check in and out as well as the luggage. I was in and out many times with my 7 year old grandson and he was always greeting with a smile. My daughter belongs to your health club and so they are used to going to your hotel. Overall, a well located, efficient and very quiet hotel.
Location was excellent. The room was very nice and comfortable. Excellent farm to table restaurant and bar. Although they had a parking garage, the elevator to the lobby was out of order so you had to take the stairs and the stairs lead to outside the front entrance. Very inconvenient if carrying any bags from the car and also because of sub-zero temps that weekend. Also no in and out access for self parking at $40 per night. If you leave you have to pay again.
The Charles is a perfect place to stay in Cambridge. It is well located, well designed with contemporary clean lines but still warm, and the Rialto is a fabulous restaurant in the hotel. We had a corner room which was quite spacious which we really appreciated as we were staying multiple nights.
Everything is within walking distance as I enjoyed a glorious autumn afternoon. I browsed endless rows of books at the Coop, watched rowers glide along the Charles River and ran stairs at Harvard Stadium while the football team engaged in a spirited practice. When I returned to the hotel, the room smelled great. They must have a special scent. I enjoyed the organic soap, shampoo and lotion that came with the room. Henrietta's Table is great for breakfast / brunch, and I highly recommend The Harvest for dinner. A very nice stay.
Best Hotel in Cambridge/ location is perfect
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
Great breakfast and staff at breakfast. Bathtub and bathroom getting dated. Needs more elegant updated reno
it was very well staffed, had folks glad to help me get a taxi, and the room was spacious and very nice. breakfast: excellent the bathmat was not clean, was too small! but the lovely desk staff moved to check on it asap an were glad to learn of a problem.
Free hot breakfast and full kitchen in the room. Room showing some ages
Location, quality of bed, and kitchen. Front desk staff was excellent. Fire alarm went off early in the morning during our stay. Dresser top drawer was busted.
The staff is fantastic! Need to update the rooms and fix minor repairs such as carpet, kitchen, walls, etc.
Great staff as always The room was horrid. And with the hotel full I couldn't move. I even took pictures to ensure that I was believed about how disgusting this room was.
the rooms were really nice and the staff was great. We got a free upgrade and had 2 rooms that they did their best at getting close to each other. Made the stay very enjoyable.
room...(suite) well appointed and clean . bed comfortable. Buffet breakfast, with omlette station very nice bonus. Overall very pleased.
The size of the rooms and full kitchen was very nice The breakfast buffet was fairly disappointing
Location was not that far from Alewife train station. Which made it easy to get in and out of Boston w/o paying an arm and a leg for parking. Breakfast was outstanding. Staff sneezing and not covering up.
The room was beautiful and the bed was so comfortable. With four kids it was nice to have a night just my husband and I. Boxk restaurant was delicious. Our dinner was excellent but the deserts was not. The room was quiet and the staff was attentive and friendly. I don't have a bad thing to say
Great location clean room and quiet
The hotel and rooms are very nice. Our only complaint was that the ac unit was extremely loud as it was running.
The front desk associate had long, uneven and filthy fingernails. It was the first thing I noticed when he handed me my keys. Put a low - class spin on everything.
Clean, up-to-date room LOUD A/C
Clean room, front desk was nice! Bar staff was trying to close early. They were rude trying to rush is out.
Location was great and easy to find. The overall hotel was loud, other visitors were loud and the room was noisy from them and the elevator.
Love the contemporary design and clean look of the rooms. European feel. Breakfast buffet was convenient but overpriced and mediocre.
Parking is 1/3 of the cost to stay in the cheapest room! We paid $100 for a small room, and parking cost $30. When we were searching for hotels - we filtered with " free parking." When we got there - not only was it not free, it was OUTRAGEOUSLY priced.
I liked the proximity to Boston College. The room was cleam and comfortable. There was no foreworning of the extensive remodel going on. The hotel will be nice when finished, but was clearly not at its best. The restaurant was terribly disappointing-food was not good, and very expensive.
The rooms were decent size and nice overall for the price. NO PARKING!!!! There was no mentioned of no parking when booked my stay and had to pay $28 a day for the parking garage. So it was a group of 6 people with 4 cars....$28/day each. :( The staffs at reception were rude when I asked about parking. This was not a good experience and would not recommend to anyone.
Arrived at 130pm to check in but was told room wasn't ready. When I returned later that night they told me they were overbooked and bumped me to a hotel 20 minutes away. Even though they paid for the cab it was an inconvenience.
Noise from highway
Clean and comfortable. Just outside of downtown. In close proximity to food and other daily needs.
After a 13 hour drive I would've slept on a cardboard box but what I got was heaven! The staff was beyond nice & very personable. The girl that check me in asked what I wanted in a room. Didn't demand or just give me a room. Made my first trip to Boston the best & set the bar extremely high. Would have been nice to have a guide to what was around the hotel. Being from out of state my wife & I had no clue what was around the hotel without having to do some investigation. Also, having to pay for wifi was a tad annoying.
Vue from the room. Staff is great. Parking is available. Not much really.
Clean room, comfortable bed, nice shower. They charge for WiFi in your room and we were charged for the breakfast buffet, even though our online booking through Kayak claimed the buffet was included in the room rate.
It was reasonable The first floor rooms were very musty smelling and damp.
the staff was amazing form front desk to hospitality and I felt very comfortable there. you could hear the neighbors outside and through the bathroom vents
Dinner table in restaurant had a nice view of river Given the price of hotel $300 for one night and the suburban location expected more. Room, 466 was an extraordinary ling walk from lobby. The hotel is poorly designed. Nothing was free. Had to pay $11 for the internet, no free coffee or hot water in the lobby. Housekeeper was knocking on our door at 8:30 in the morning then opened the door when we didn't respond soon enough. They leave an envelope in the room to remind you to tip housekeeper. I generally don't stay at Marriots so maybe they do this everywhere. The fan in the bathroom didn't work. Seems like this is something the housekeeper should notice and report. Would not stay here again.
Great check in staff! Very personable. Room nice , comfortable bed:) Bedt room service. Lobster roll was superb! Especially the food !
Super comfy bed. Very clean. parking fee of 9$ especially that the hotel is only accessible by car.
Comfortable bed, clean room & bath, quiet
The staff is wonderful. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. We got a mini-suite, which was great for having friends over. The pool was refreshing and well-run. Good food. Near boating on the Charles River. Nice grounds. Easy access from highway. Paying for wifi access. Food is pricey.
I believe that, despite relatively high rate, it is excellenty value for money. Amenities and room in general showed great care for guests to feel comfortable and pampered, it has one of the greatest offering for kids I have seen in a hotel and its location is very convenient to reach all key areas around Boston.
The level of service was excellant. The location was great. The room and view was excellant as well
great room, location drinks in bar were very expensive
Location and quality of the hotel. The front desk service was not very good and the valet service was terrible as I had to ask for my car three times and had to wait 35 minutes for it at a time when no one else was waiting for cars to be retrieved.
Excellent service, lovely room Bath room too small
The room was clean and nicely appointed, the service was prompt and attentive. The location is great.
Room Services, good people
Great location, comfortable,clean
nice hotel, they gave me a room with a fantastic view of the boston common and skyline not an issue with the hotel, just the location lacked some basic supporting retail like a drug store
The staff was extremely helpful.
The included breakfast and light dinner was very good. Room was very clean, modern and nicely decorated. All rooms have only one bed. Any additional sleepers use a roll away or pull out couch, which was not very comfortable.
Good setup in general. Nice to have the pull out sofa separated from the main bed. We were on a college visit trip with our daughter and this worked out well. The room included a full size refrigerator as compared to many hotel "mini" versions. Bed was comfortable. Internet worked well in our room and TV had many stations to choose from (good size screen in both rooms). Having the kitchenette was great - had dishwasher, microwave, fridge, etc. I question that the queen bed was a standard queen (seemed smaller than our queen bed at home). Room description stated there was a DVD player in the room - there wasn't (didn't matter since we brought a portable). We had trouble with the room heater - did not work well when room thermostat was set to "auto" but did when set to "on." Room was very pricey but not really surprising considering the area (Cambridge MA) - most every hotel in the area was expensive.
35 dollars for parking for one night. Hotel workers protesting at 7am woke us up. Staff unlocked our door and came in while we were still in bed.
The hotel was very nice, staffordable were friendly and hedlpful, roooroom was great. The iron in the room was pretty low quality and couMD donwith an upgrade. Also, it was much further from downtown Boston and publicensed transport than I thought It would be.
The hotel was outstanding. The staff were the most helpful and professional that we experienced on this trip. It was perfectly located between Cambridge and Boston.
The rooms were spacious, view was great, beds were very comfortable. Unbelievably expensive rate for the property. They charged me more than the maximum stated on the door in the room!! And then I had a $35 parking fee on top! (You're captive due to the location, which can be tricky to access off Soldiers Field Rd if you're driving.) could not get the TV to work, or the in room phone! For the price everything should be perfect!
The suite was a genuine suite, with a bedroom and a full sitting room. It was very quiet and therefore restful. The location could be a problem for someone unfamiliar with the area. It's pretty isolated--with the Mass Turnpike on one side and Storrow Drive on the other, and it's on the "wrong" side of the Charles River from Cambridge. You might say it's in the middle of nowhere, and you can't walk to anything close. In fact, it's only a 10 minute walk from Central Square and a 10-15 minute walk from Harvard Square. Knowing the area, I had no problem with it, and with excellent weather, the walks were quite pleasant. But someone unfamiliar with the area might want another hotel. Taxis were readily available, by the way.
Size of the suite; view of the Charles River; gym facility; proximity to Cambridge and to downtown Boston by car (but not by transit). It is not at all close to a T station.
Liked the staff, very accommodating and professional. The layout of the rooms really feels comfortable, less like a hotel. The location works for me because it's close to my daughter. Love the cookies. Furniture in living room portion of room could use a good cleaning or update. It's a bit noisy, so if you like it very quiet, probably wouldn't work for you. Restaraunt menu selection is minimal also for the room service.
Location, comfort and price Was not told view from rooftop was only at night. Thought parking fee was high
Print check in service. Love the room, comfortable.
Extremely helpful and friendly staff. 24 hour parking access.
Nothing Over price for the room, no continental breakfast, area location was too busy ... Too expense hotel doesn't offer continatal breakfast for that price
The hotel was always a good temperature Lack of information in room about facilities and choices
Good location. Very quiet and peaceful. The bathroom counter was nice. For the price and quality of hotel I was very disappointed. It was an extra $10 for wifi. The shower was subpar and the toilet had terrible pressure/flushing capabilities. We ordered room service for breakfast and it was delivered cold. There was nothing spectacular about the breakfast and it was $98 for two people.
Great service. I lost my credit card and the concierge was very helpful in getting that resolved. I had to wait 25 minutes for the valet to bring my car for pick up
Sumptuous luxury, privacy, waterfront location, Old North End proximity 500 building felt removed from the hotel and lobby: more residential; try for east-facing room in the building facing the harbor. Difficult to get to due to traffic: allow extra time
Location and the staff
Easy about 1 mile walk to back bay. Room smelled musty. First was given a room that wasn't cleaned properly. A shirt was in the corner of the room and a black mascara mark on the pillow. Then was moved to a room with a balcony which was nicer but still smelled musty and had eaten food(baba ganoush) left in the fridge. Housekeeping needs to improve! Will never stay again. Hyatt Regency in East Boston by the airport is way better!
The room was cleaned and well maintained. I found the shower to be really tiny, not enough room but I can ignore that There was no coffee in the room
The staff are very nice and accomodating. Rooms are comfortable and include wifi. The restaurant is just ok
Good level of service and venue Pool is too far from rooms
loved my room and the location!
GREAT location. Nice room with a good layout. Comfortable bed. Extra pillows. There were flying gnats in the dining area and the bar area. Really unpleasant.
Special thanks to Maria at the restaurant, and Roe, the omelette chef for outstanding service. Nothing.
Parking shoub be free.... One reazon i change to anotyer hotel.... But the night i stay was perfect.. Larry G
Hotel is clean and comfortable, Free wifi. High parking costs
Good elevator security, location, friendly doormen, the staff apologized for not taking care of my water problem or leaving a note. Didn't fix the loud banging noise when I used the hot water in the bathroom sink, mold in the shower drain, shower clothes line didn't work, no Boston papers available, coffee poor quality, Starbucks croissants were day old and cost $4+, I had a view over industrial Boston, obstructed by the gym. Even the gym faced away from the water.
The online description advised on-site parking, it sure was, at $38 a day, I could have stayed at the Marriott down the road with free parking $38 a day parking, turned my $150 room into a $200 a night room after taxes, very deceiving
It was comfortable. The staff was awesome. It was run down and the parking was over priced considering there was a lot of empty parking spots and outside the city.
Staff was great, excellent location, great breakfast (not included, at least at my rate). Comfortable room, nice bed, etc. Heating didn't work, on a rather cold night. It was a bit like staying in a tent during winter camping that way. Staff indicated to me that the heating units (they were old school, but I wouldn't have minded if it worked :) are all in process of replacement.
Sawing and screwing noises woke me up at 7:30 am.
The management was fantastic.
Friendly staff A bit far from Boston downtown
The hotel was incredibly clean. The fitness center had all we needed. The staff was welcoming, friendly, nice, helpful and very funny. This was a five plus star place for a cheap affordable price. We LOVED this place and we would stay at this hotel again. There was nothing not to like. I truly love how clean it was. It could have done without the "NY parking charge" but as New Yorkers we get it.
The staff was very helpful and nice. I made a reservation for the wrong night with kayak and they guided me step by step to correct the error without penalty ( even if I already passed to deadline to cancel). While I was on the phone in the lobby the night manager brought a bottle of water free of charge.
nice view of boston-- too far to walk comfortably to cambridge
Great value for a roomy and spacious quiet location. I loved the shuttle it can pick you up near the stations but I wish I knew coming in instead of walking there. No real amenities but there are renovations underway. Snacks were only provided on the first night not second.
Having to pay $35 to park my car. Given location of hotel, how do they expect people to get there other than by car. It is not like the hotel was in downtown Boston. Should be free to Marriott members. Breakfast was o/k.
Very clean and comfortable. I was a single girl and I needed help with my bags which were very heavy. I called up the concierge and the front desk 4 times but no one came to pick up my bags and I had to lift 3 bags on my own..
That it was being renovated, leading to a messy lobby, busy elevators and noisy early in the morning
Staff were pretty friendly. Took 30 mins to find my booking. Rooms and facilities are old and run down. No room service. No beer on tap in the bar (i mean it is Boston) . Breakfast was expensive and poor quality and selection.
