The staff were excellent, provided good advice re transport and dining options. The room was comfortable and quiet . The hotel is located centrally for shopping, dining and close to CBD. No
very large and moder room, fully equipped and comfortable
Helpful, polite, kind and prompt staff. Hotel Bistro mediocre, but many good alternatives within easy walking distance. Small but clean and well organised space. Showers are poorly designed and feel small and uncomfortable. Leaking all over...Could not the get Spa treatment I wanted.
perfect attitude of the staff, very friendly and really to the point. sadly enough no swimmingpool (but i knew)
Welcoming and friendly staff. Perfect relaxing environment. Perfect room setup, had everything I needed.Great to have a flatscreen in bedroom and living area. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was modern and clean with all needed amenties and a great bath!
Located in the CBD (central business district) of Melbourne, close to everything, tram running directly in front of the hotel makes it easy to get anywhere in the city. Close to museums, shopping, restaurants and the Victoria Market - this hotel has a fantastic staff who will help with all of your travel needs As a plus they serve one of the best breakfasts anywhere. Rooms that border the street can be noisy - if possible ask for a room not facing the streets.
Really fantastic location, adjacent to Queen Victoria Market. Overall clean, simple hotel with locally made amenities which was a really nice touch. The gentleman who checked us in was not very nice and gave us a bit of attitude when we asked about hotel parking (because the website stated there was). It wasn't a pleasant welcome or first impression.
Very convenient location. Room a good size and clean. Nice modern decor No complaints other than reception area could have been a little more welcoming such as perhaps having art works by local artists displayed (as Melbourne is known as the cultural city) and flowers
location; friendly helpful staff no
Size of room and facilities in the room
Close proximity to shopping and restaurants. modern style, well priced hotel Hotel Room a little on the small side, very noisy (thin walls, gaps under the doors)
close proximity to city centre Insulation of noise from street should be better
Staff are pleasent and helpful No balcony or outside areas 2 seat twin room to crampy noscreens on windows cold breeze comes in
Clean rooms, central location and the staff wre froendly. The rooms were allowed high volumes of street noise into the room./
Friendly and helpful staff, very plesant room and location of hotel near Victoria Markets. Room was lacking some drawers which would have been useful as we were there for 8 days.
When we needed transport to crown casino or train station the reception ordered a taxi for us and it arrived within minutes! no
Great location, great rate, very nice large room for the price. Would use again for business or pleasure trip The noise at night from music and street noise meant I wore ear plugs, the window by the bed could have the seal replaced in 1708 I think.
The set up of the room was great! I loved it. I had booked a room for 3 adults and was provided with a room for 2 and my concern was that when we requested a fold out bed there weren't any available.
Location The fact that we were shown to a room with luggage already in it.
Excellent location. Close to shops and restaurants. Spaciaus room. Very relaxing. Laundry machine and dryer helped. Car is safe with secured parking. Quick response from house keeping. Minor house keeping problem. The entire floor wasn't vacuumed and the bed wasn't made on the second day (this was fixed after complaining). The carpet area wasn't vacuumed the whole stay.
early check in on arrival great breakfast and agreat location friendly staff will stay again.
Location The bed was too hard
Facilities and space in the room At first we were put in a studio rather than a one bedroom apartment but that was soon fixed
Great location. Helpful staff, we got early check in at 9am as our flight arrived at 7am (we were with our 2 young kids). Couldn't be better!
The room was great, really nice and big enough for 4 ppl I made a booking on line and when we went to check in they didnt have my booking anymore..staff had to do some shuffling around but eventually we got our room. However it was a bit concering and not very secure in the fact that we thought we would of had nowhere to stay.
The hotel is well situated and easy walking to theatres, shopping and places of interest in Melbourne. The staff were friendly and most helpful. I think it was great value for money.
great location, rooms were reasonable size. The TV didn't work properly when we got there, but it was changed as soon as we let reception know. Sugar and coffee not refilled until our 4th day. Not a big deal, but would be nice just to have these things done.
The staff were great and the rooms were very clean and modern
the location to the markets and trams was terrific the construction out the front was noisy
Location Housekeeping didn't tidy up our room.
Its accessibility to most everything i.e.. shops, places of interest and transport nothing really, because I enjoyed every minute of my stay
Friendly staff Lena and Tania helped so much. Allowed us in earlier due to a room being available.
shopping sightseeing dining
Thought the apartment accommodation was very suitable for four adult family members staying together in one location.
Lift, Location, Clean rooms & modern bathroom fitout. Air conditioning fluctuated alot & did not cool room to appropriate temp.
When I checked in Ibis Hotel Melbourne, my partner and I were welcomed warmly by the receptionist. We were given the keys to our rooms, and when we stepped into our rooms, to our surprise it was very neat and had a sense of comfort. The room was above average for its standard. There was room temperature control, bar fridge, complimentary coffee and tea, television and internet access. It was a comfortable and great stay. I look forward to staying at Ibis Melbourne on my next visit. When I turned on the television, they wanted to charge me for their service. Even though I only wanted to watch free to air. To my disappointment, I just turned off the television and watched movies through my laptop instead.
Location was awesome. Breakfast was great too. The dull thud from the bass music from night club next door made sleeping at night almost impossible!!
friendly staff, clean rooms, good value for money, good location smoke alarms easily went off just from cooking, got annoying having to open balcony doors everytime we cooked
Location and Amenaties Slow Lift and Average Staff.
The location was wonderful, and everything about the apartment was satisfactory. The location.
The apartments are adequate. The hotel is well placed for the free circular tram service. The hotel is not in the the better area of Melbourne.
Very friendly staff that made you feel comfortable and helped out straight away.Room wasn't huge but it was just what we needed, neat and clean. Great location near China town and 2 blocks away from the city shops.
The convenience of where it is located; the cleanliness of the room The smell which seem to emerge from the drain in the bathroom; the building works going on outside the apartment across the laneway; the guy on the desk who was rude about the airport shuttle not picking us up to take us to the airport because we only booked in in the morning for 4pm that afternoon, as if that was our fault for the bus not turning up - yes we caught a cab! grrrrr
Staff were brilliant and very knowledgeable. Very central to all landmarks and great facilities
It was very close for our purposes and very comfortable
All the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The lack of on-site self-service laundry facilities was unexpected for a self-contained apartment. As I was staying 10 nights, I ended up doing small amounts of handwashing every 1-2 days. No problem during the warmer months when washing dried quickly, but probably not ideal in the winter. I would have also liked to be able to see a little more from my room than just a dark wooden paling fence. Having the fence made of transparent material would make the room feel less like a prison cell.
chamber maids fantastic. Very comfortable room with all amenities. Great to be able to cook a light snack in your own room when tired from a long day sight seeing. reception staff a little blase. Reported broken fridge (ice compartment not working) and man that attended treated me like an idiot(said ice compartment not designed for ice!) - I had to really insist before it was replaced with a working unit.
I liked the size of apartment, the bed was excellent, having a balcony was a must, very good overall. Ithink the connection fee of $11 a hour for using my computer was away over the top for someone staying in the complex hence i did not use it & i think it should be looked at.
central and easy to get to
the price and location Did not know about the $100 security bond, was not expecting this, and we were only in melborne for a short amount of time and only had a certain amount of spending money, wich we had to use for the security bond.
pleasant staff combined with excellent room, food was great, value for money and location. The absolute only issue was noise from refurbishment which I understand cannot be avoided.
comfortable bed poor pressure of water in shower and water only lukewarm
We have stayed a number of times previously and location a primary reason On the website the picture looked different to the room we were allocated on 1103.
Location. Bathrooms in need of refurbishment; poor lighting in rooms; bed linen and towels worn and in need of replacing; cleanliness and house keeping extremely poor; foyers, balconies and corridors very unclean.
We liked the proximity to our venue, The continental Breakfast was very nice as well as the roof top pool. Our view was lovely as was the room presentation. The check-in and check-out were hassel free and staff were warm and welcoming. We didnt like the comfort of our bed, it was lumpy and soft which resulted in a restless nights sleep. My sister stayed in another room on the 4th floor and her bed had terrible spring lumps. We also noticed that besides being 15 floors up we could hear every thing that was going on at street level at 3.30am, eg : Drunk loud people, Note that our windows were closed and curtians drawn.
Helpful staff and quick responses. Remove or maintain toiletry dispensers. Good idea - less clutter but some not working. Brochure for around the city tram..unless you are from Melbourne you don't known this is available.
The fact that the hotel apologised for any inconvenience caused by renovations and offered complimentary drinks, tapas food, and discounts on meals by way of compensation.
The buffet breakfast was great!! good value too! The room was quite small, and no kitchenette area.
Very close to entertainment venues and restaurants. Great parking next door. Loan of umbrella's was appreciated. At reception, on arrival they had to look hard for our reservation and at departure they insisted that the bill had not been prepaid. After I showed paperwork they still had to check with Accounts. Disappointing.
The location and comfort of the room The bathroom tub looked old and grubby
It was very central and the staff were very helpful. Everything was warm and inviting. After having stayed in hotels in Singapore and Malaysia it was a bit confusing that bottled water left by the side of the bed (and not in the fridge) was not free. A note should be put with the bottles so there is no confusion.
Room was supposed to be non smoking but smell was awful and room had to be re freshed, very tired and run down.
Walking the streeta nd the closeness of the facilities surrounding it's location The grave yard shift front desk girl. very rude. Bad reception on the TV
My hotel room was on the top floor, it was really nice and clean and luxurious, the views were great Bathroom a bit small, could hear some noises in the corridor
The rooms were spacious with all modern cons. The rooftop pool was great however opening hours would be extended. The check in staff were appalling. I arrived at 1am carrying 3 heavy bags after a long flight from London. There were 2 men behind reception who say me arrive and that I was struggling with my bags but they continued their own discussion. On a positive, check in was quick but they gave me my key without telling me where I needed to go or offering to help with my luggage. I had to ask where I was going and by the surly answer I got back and the complete lack of interest they showed me, I didn't dare to ask for help with my bags. I enquired about breakfast and they told me that all hotel resident information could be found in my room! Their customer service skills were none apparent and I was truly shocked at how they treated me.
very central to all theatres, shops and convenient parking with 1st class service, immediates service no waiting and parking attendants we could hear commotion in the room next door with a baby crying
I loved the location of the hotel, it was so close to everything we had planned in Melbourne such as AFL, shopping and Museums. The bar shut way too early on the Saturday night so after we came back from a restaurant we had to go over the road to another pub (which was busy and very noisy) for a nightcap. Poor form. The bar should stay open late for residents.
Hello, i was very happy with our room and its facilitys. I did think that the bed was too soft and that the lounge and chair although welcome, could have been a little more stylish. Thankyou
Location Really noisy, unfriendly staff. Calling Spa to the facilities is disproportionate. The hotel does not deserve the rate paid.
Great Location. Clean and quiet. The spa could of been hotter.
Apartment was very spacious and quiet. Room service was prompt. Reception was small and personal. Television reception was fuzzy. Only one lift which was a little slow.
central location, period building, breakfast being charged for beverages with breakfast when breakfast was included in the tariff lack of ventillation in the romm
Room was fabulous and spacious. Service from all staff excellent. I liked the bar area and library. reception staff helpful. Good location. Pool etc great too. Poor service at breakfast when busy - more staff needed. Hotel should have more information/leaflets about things to do in Melbourne.
It was a spacious very comfotable room the staff were very friendly and helpfull. the room was exceptionally quiet even though in the middle of the city. we also enjoyed the old world charm combined with modern conveniences.
I enjoyed the breakfast. It was not 5 star. A five star hotel has more than one lift, has staff that say good morning, has a doorman who offers to carry bags and a room with a decent sized bathroom.
gorgeous old world charm, with high ceilings, a bit noisy from traffic, but would recommend, staff were very obliging! the only thing i could fault was the noise factor
Close to the stadium for football Maybe it would be helpful to have staff who speak english serving breakfast
On arrival they were very helpful. We had a excellent that we eat in the room. I would to tell a story as well, when we left my wife left 750 AUD in the room. When only realized it after 6 hours. We phoned the hotel they came back to us and paid it into my account. Honesty was very good and we really appreciated it and for that we will go back.
A small cozy place in the southeast corner of downtown. Service is great. Just had breakfast in the restaurant but it was great. Tram stop is just outside the door. You are pretty close to just about everything. I travel quite a bit and this is probably the best hotel I've ever stayed. Has everything you need without going over the top. An outstanding business traveler hotel.
We enjoyed the view also the service was fantastic the staff are so friendly. . being woken at 7.00am for laundry that we didnt order.
A great hotel that was in a fantastic location. Staff were friendly and always accommodating. Also they
We chose it for it's location. It is adjacent to the Melbourne Convention Centre Plenary auditorium where we attended a presentation by the astrophysicist Dr Neil DeGrass Tyson. There was a small light in the bathroom which was on all night, no control switch to be able to turn it off.
fantastic service no
We loved the King size bed, pillows & doona. We also loved the shower/bathroom. The alarm went off at 6am, we did not even set the alarm.
service was exellent from all areas, room was well appaointed, staff very freindly
close to convention centre no milk in fridge on 2 days. no hair conditioner on one day
excellent knowlegable staff some facilities need renovation
Staff was very friendly and helpful at the check in and check out counters and especially at the concierge section where they very patiently helped people with directions/booking tours etc. The breakfast room (Louden) was not very imposing, carpets were dirty due to heavy use, furniture very basic. About half an hour before closing time staff are already clearing and moving/re-arranging tables with a lot of racket, preparing for what one assumes, the lunch session. The view from the breakfast room onto the ally alongside is also nothing to be proud of - although not the fault of the hotel.
Supposedly a 4 star hotel. Desapointing. Lot's of teenagers, reception needing room key to secure access after 21:00, not the cleanest.
Great view and service.
Room was, in fact, a mini-suite with microwave (well concealed in fitment) etc. Therefore useful if too late for b'fast! Very helpful concierge and front desk staff. Name of hotel seems to confuse taxi drivers. Is it the Swanston or the Grand Mercure? (Mercure aka Welcome Hotel adjoins)
efficiency and courtesy of staff with any requests/check in-out
The location in the centre of Melbourne was very good, as I had meeting in Mebourne. The check in & leaving good with no delays. No complaints
The central location, good room size, friendly staff
Ease of car parking - the valet service the sound proofing of the rooms
great location for shopping. for a 4.5 star hotel did not think the room was luxurios enough and the bathroom needed updating, bit run down.
Great location to shops, chinatown and easy walk to rest of cbd
Great location, near to the main shopping areas, Great food Hall and shopping under the actual Hotel complex, Fantastic view from our 45th floor room.
Good location, beautiful city views, romantic environment and nice staffs.
Was set for a pickup at hotel from tour company and when they were not there concierge took charge of situation by locating and calling all 3 direct numbers available until he got ahold of someone. Timing was critical as missing a tour has its own bucket of problems because of his urgency response the tour was located and all proper arrangements were honored. He was solid. Excellent location views breakfast Wifi did not work in room. Acoustics from outside in. Mattress was uneven in firmness.
the excellent service and the central location
The decor of the hotel was amazing and there was a definite wow factor when you arrived in the big ornate lobby with high ceilings. The central atrium was also a spectacular feature. Although the hotel may be at the 'Parisien' end of the Collins Street and it may be owned by a French group, the 'bonjour' greeting from staff was a little contrived if not pretentious.
Cleanliness, staff attitude
Excellent service from staff. We stayed in a club level room that provided a quality breakfast, sandwich lunch, afternoon tea then canapes and drinks for a pre dinner. The staff were very keen to assist in any requests
The bed was amazing, the views spectacular, staff were very polite and very helpful. A little bit of sand in my mushrooms at breakfast time and the bathroom does not have an exhaust fan but other than that everything was perfect!
I liked the convenience to restaraunts and Rod Laver Arena.Enjoyed the view from the room and chocolates for our anniversary.
Paying $75 for a small bottle of australian champagne
Ideal location Large and impersonal hotel
The friendly & professional staff, always willing to help & answer any questions. The room & gym facilities were fantastic, the views were amazing! The hotels location was close to the major shops and transport. I would highly recommend the hotel and look forward to staying there again when I return to Melbourne in the future! Found the the air cond could have been cooler. Only felt the coolness when seated close to the windows, not whilst in bed or any other part of the room. However it we did not bring this to the hotels attention.
close to tennis centre venue for concert we went to. Considered to be over priced. Hot shower pressure pathetic - just a dribble. Lounge in room was uncomfortable - harsh nylon material cover. paid $450 a night for room (although I did appreciate the free up grade) - yet still had to pay $45 for valet parking. buffet breakfast $29 = hmm. A Hilton burger for ? $25 or whatever then $4 to bring to room, and a glass of ordinary Red wine for $12, considered to be excessive..
we were extremely comfortable Our only issue was the positioning of the light switches - the switch for the bath and above bar niche was by the entrance door. No bedside lamps or any form of subtle lighting for night illumination at bed
I loved the fact that we were upgraded to a relaxation suite free of charger... the room was perfect..
Location just opposite Fitroy Gardens was very nice. It was a 10-15 minute walk into the main city centre which meant it was a bit quieter. Staff were very helpful. Room, and leisure facilities were great. If you wanted to be right in the city centre it was a short walk or tram ride.
Good location if you want to be close to city & the inner city suburbs The hotel is in desperate need of updating
During my stay I found the staff very friendly and the service excellent. I was under the impression that the room had a king size bed. This was not the case, it was two single beds joined together by an underblanket. This put a dampener on the stay.
assistance from concierge
Service was excellent location for mcg was excellent pricing was good and staff very helpful
Suite was quite comfortable and location was pretty handy to everything Lounge/Sofa in suite was atrocious. Plastic/fabric was terrible. Looked low class and you could not comfortable sit on it for any period of time. Room cards deactivated twice (not due to contact with any magnetic interference or contact). This is a real pain when you need to access the room urgently and you are forced to head back to reception, stand in line and then have a front desk person patronise me and treat me like I caused the issue. I was most offended and annoyed.
The staff were very helpful and friendly The shower water came out like a tap and wet the bathroom floor.
The amazing view from our balcony and the staff were great! From reservations right up to Assistant Manager were all very helpful and courteous and polite. We had such a great stay, really cant fault anything.
Convenience to city and stadiums
Close to all facilities and transport around Melbourne No
The proximity to the Casino, quick access to trams and the overall feel of the hotel. Also, the balcony with views of Melbourne that even a lifelong resident was impressed with! Only that the temperature of the room was a little too high, we compensated by opening the balcony door to freshen up the room.
service was very good way too noisey. walls thin and could hear everything in rooms next door. hear traffic from road and trains
Loved the location with views of the Casino and river, and a short stroll to shops and restaurants. Helpful staff made us very welcome. Very convenient. The mattress in the wardrobe made it extremely difficult to hang clothes.
Central location, staff were quite informative, view over the yarra river and the crown casino water pressure and temperature during the shower
they put up with a changing group of people in the apartment and with a lot of whims on the part of the inhabitants--all with good grace and if anything was requested reacted promptly probably a little overpriced compared to other similar apartment hotels-in terms of accommadations-in Melbourne, but only a little
Excellent location and good studio room with lovely views of the Yarra river. Lack of wi-fi facility and safety boxes in rooms.
Bed, View, Tidy room. Car park within hotel Room smelled like burnt toast, not bad by the time we returned at Midnight
