Good location. Generally pleasant and helpful staff. quick response from room service. Excellent potato and mushroom soup in the restaurant!!. Except for the bathroom safety issue, the room was good and when no opener was available for the minibar, one was quickly supplied along with the room service. We had a great view of Etna from our room that afternoon--an unexpected plus after spending ten days in other parts of Sicily. Downgraded you on "facilities" primarily on the safety issue. Like all European hotels, no one seems to make it easy for older people to get in and out of the shower/tub safely. Besides the wall bar, there are hold bars that fasten to the edge of a tub which are helpful in getting out. I have seen some here in the US, don't think I saw any in European hotels. Also square toilet seat was a surprise--we even took a photo because we had never seen such before--but I don't find that it is very comfortable to sit on!
Room spacious and clean. Close to airport. Shuttle pickup slow. Seem to run the shuttle hourly. So close to the airport it could be as needed or, at least, twice per hour.
Room was large and clean but next to some staff room at the very end of the hall downstairs so could hear loud talking. The location is good for travelers having to fly in and out of Catania airport. The hotel has a shuttle for 5 Euros. At a minimum coffee or tea should be provided for guests no matter even if they paid less than another guest. The hotel is not near restaurants and cafes so you would have to leave the hotel to go to a cafe.
Room was a nice size and it was clean. Steph was unfriendly and unhelpful. Also, shuttle bus was full when we needed it. We needed to get to the airport at 5 o'clock in the morning. That's why we stayed at the hotel! Had to take a taxi for $20 instead.
It is very centrally located
nice room ,very clean with a good view there was aproblem with the aircondition and TV but help came quick
in the middle of the city - on the shopping street and close by the nicest buildings, squares - view on Etna AND Dom
Clean and elegant hotel right on Via Etnea.
We really liked Manganelli Palace. The central location was perfect to walk around Catania and to take the bus to Aci Castello. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Our room was big with a decoratively painted ceiling. The bathroom was modern and very clean. But what it really made this place outstanding was the staff: Simona, Dario and Danilo. Kind and extremely pleasant, they helped us fully with our travel nightmares (BA and Alitalia), thank you all! We highly recommend this hotel to everyone in search of affordable luxury and individual courtesy.
Parking within hotel grounds, friendly staff The area of Catania - I would not return to Catania
Welcoming delightful staff and wonderful painted ceilings Cracked mirror in bedroom
I appreciated a lot the beautifull room: large, with fine fornitures and, overall, a ceiling with original decoration. The staff (Simona and her collegues) was very efficient and polite. If I'll come back to Catania I'll choose Manganelli Palace again
Great accomodation, centrally located with a great breakfast. The staff were lovely and very very helpful always. Would recommend and will stay again.
Very helpful staff available 24 hours. Very quiet given position of our room overlooking a main road. Very safe and secure. Many hotels in same price bracket probably wouldn't compete. Controlling the air conditioning overnight
location and character of rooms
The staff was very helpful and our room was very nice I was disappointed that there was no jacuzzi in the suite as promised. That was the only reason we paid extra and there is not one. But overall the staff and the room were very nice.
Staff very helpful and friendly. Quite central. They should try to increase in parking facility. If you don't have where to park, then it is impossible to find a parking space in the streets. For a Hotel, with very few parking spaces, located on the 2nd Floor, a small lift, the Hotel is rather expensive. Prices are like a 4 star Hotel in other Italian Cities.
Small hotel with very nice atmosphere. The rooms are beautifully decorated especially the sealings which are hand painted. Friendly staff. Difficult to find parking space
Spacious room, clean and nice bathroom. Nice staff (Alfredo) ! Modern and nice pool, great breakfast, lots of choice. The hotel is about 5 min. from the city centre. There is a hotel shuttle, but the shuttle doesn't drive frequently. Drinks and food are pretty expensive in the hotel, glas of soda eur 4,-.
Pool. Still no fitness center. I stayed for a week and breakfast was the same every morning. Overpriced menu.
Rooms were very clean and good size Lower your food and beverage prices. We stayed at this hotel due to the location of the closeness to the airport. Also taxi that was hired from your hotel was an outrageous price for a five minute drive to the airport. Hotel should provide a shuttle to the airport as it is so close.
The hotel is in general nice, namely the garden and the swiming pool. It's located near the beach, although it's on the other side of the road (no direct connection); The hotel is in front of a noisy road; the employees are nice in general but need a little bit more of organisation; we found the bedroom small for one couple and one child
The location close to the airport and the nice room
Double room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast was excellent with plenty of variety including hot food and fresh fruit. The hotel staff were very helpful. The hotel has a superb swimming pool and offers access passes to the adjoining beach. It also operates a complimentary airport and city centre shuttle. Free WIFI is available in all the rooms. The hotel restaurant meals were excellent and reasonably priced. Parking provided on the site. Have no complaints about this hotel.
Near to the airport, nice green garden oasis in the town. This hotel is too far from 5 stars.
cleanliness and the pool
* REstruant made some good food (pasta at least). * Close to airport if yo on you way home (But is is not reaally possible to work to airport even it is only 2 km away). * Rooms to small! * Resturant service limited (only from 20 o clock in the evning, hence ,ot good for famillies with small childeren). Limited selection for room service! PRICY prices!
The pool was in excellent settings and very ease to enter if one is elderly. The food and service also excellent when we dined in the evening and the atmosphere was lovely. The hotel itself is a little shabby and too drab for a mediterranean seaside resort, it could do with a nice light uplift. Apart from that we enjoyed our two day stay. A little more care on the cleanliness in general
1) the central placement of the hotel 2) in low season they can park your car themselves in the garage 1) the city itself is awful: very dirty, all walls and historic buildings are in graffity even fountain and main street, a lot of poor and dirty people on streets outside the 1 main walking road (so in the evening it's scary to walk). We ran away from this city on 3d day, although planed to stay for 5. The main reason to come here is Etna - that is fantastic. 2) the hotel itself is business-style one with old furniture with respective "old smell" in rooms. Think that it should be cheaper
Location is excellent - Staff very cordial and efficient - Comfort rooms - very good breakfast NA
Food in the restaurant was very good. Staff very helpful, courteous and friendly Our meal on thursday 21st was exactly the same as that on the wednesday although very good 20th. Howevber a word with reception ensured we had different menu friday and saturday which were bo9th excellent. some thought need sto be put into serviuce for guest who stay more than 1 night
Good quality, clean and friendly staff. A bit pricy. Location not great (Catania is not great as well) but close to the center.
Staff were very friendly and the food was very good
Friendly staff (although the barman was sometimes difficult to find) Some loud, brash Americans who were obviously on their tour of Europe, and thought they owned it.
Free internet in the room and free drinks in frig, very nice deco overall.
Well appointed and tastefully furnished. Friendly staff on the whole. Excellent food and breakfast - beware of the gourmet dinner, it has 8 courses! Not a great location, being tucked away in side streets a fair walk from the city centre. Driving is impossible - allow 1 hour to get to the airport at busy times.
The breakfast and the dining area were lovely and the staff excellent. We are very comfortable in recommending it to others
position for exploring
the telephone system was out of order
Nice big room with all amenities. Didnt have view of mount Etna as promised and didnt have tea/coffee making facilities.
Nothing in particular; advertised as five star hotel but in reality does not offer what is expected in "five star" hotels. On arrival there was no body to help with our lugage. We had to drag it from the taxi to the loby. Air conditioning of the "suite" was not working; staff at the fornt desk refused to move us ot a diferent suite or room; It toke three days to get the air conditioning working after complaining repeatedly. Hotel's personel very un-professionaly and not corteous at all in general; there were very few exempitions; never had this experience in Five Star Hotels.
big room, nice bath bad smell in the room, despite parfume diffusor
spacy rooms no hot water in the morning
Location was convenient. Good parking, which is a rarity in Italy sometimes. Safe to walk to other areas of the city. I thought the carpet was very shabby, stained, and worn out. It made a beautiful hotel loose some appeal.
excelent room & breakfast. not much information readily available on tours etc, had to ask at reception.
We asked for another room on our second day (as it had a rather unpleasant smell) and were given a much better room. All 4 of us found the pillows very hard and uncomfortable. One of our party asked for a softer pillow but the replacement was no better.
i like the design of the hotel. its my type 100 %. the rooms are very nicee...beautiful andd clean and i found a lot of people smiling and help you alot. the breakfast was very good excelent service and everything clear in the kitchen there is nothign i can say negative and sure im coming again next time 1 thing i don't like.. aspecially in the night i found... i got there about 3 am in the morning and i found a man and asked me if i was a resident there and he didnt belived me and had to check in the computer ..
The breakfast These are all things i didn't like about the hotel: Impatient front desk staff but that may be because they were short of staff and the long queues. for a hotel claiming to be 5 star looked a bit tired. Bedroom wall lights nearly coming off the wall. Some desk lamps not working. Wall paper peeling away from the bathroom wall. The room phone did not work. Only one computer with small screen to access internet - for a fee and this took 10 -15 minutes to connect.
Kein Shuttleservice von und zum Flughafen am Samstag ab 13 Uhr und auch nicht am Sonntag. Man muss ein völlig überteuertes Taxi buchen. No shuttle to airport after Saturday 13.00 and also none on Sunday. These times would be the most important times to offer the shuttle to turists. You have to take a taxi wich is extremely expensive and at the end halve the price of the room. For this reason we never come back to this hotel.
Staff were very accommodating and took care of the few problems that did occur. Easy drive from the hotel to work and to the downtown. Quiet and not alot of traffic in the area. Wireless access cost.
beach, pool, breakfast no adaptor for the plug, promise the charge for the phone, then turn out don't have a common one, staff English was poor and not helpful for this.
The staff were very hlepful and accomodating. I was looking for an airport hotel with a shuttle for an early morning flight and it was perfect. My room was fine but the carpets throughout the hotel are in bad shape. It gives the impression of slight seediness.
The swimming pool, the breakfast and the fact there was outside seating at the restaurant We thought the food sereved in the restaurant was not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. On most oaccasions the food was barely warm and not hot, service although polite and frielndly was incredibly slow and the menu was monotonous particularly on the last two nights when there were not even any dishes of the day to choose from
We had a fabulous time at the Parco degli Aragonesi. All of the staff were very helpful and curteous and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who wants the ease of being yards from the beach, great pool and a good restaurant. It was so easy to travel into Catania and the holiday was great. We are thinking of booking again as we had such a good time.
Very friendly and helpful staff The beach area across the road was not so great
good facilities, beach , pool, location to airport
Internal decor was refreshing, staff were in the main helpful and the room quiet for a stop over.It was the nearest to the airport but still 10 mins drive. We could not be offered computer facilities to confirm our onward flight and there was no complimentary transit bus available from airport to hotel
swimming pool no early breakfast for at least a cup of coffee for early leaving
location, interior and breakfast Wifi didn't work at that time.
Everything was perfect. The best staff!. Very nice rooms, comfortable, parking, near city centre, near bus. It is a very good choice in order to have a pleasant time
everything was ok, early check out and late check in
Hotel staff noice from the street
Everything in the hotel are very new.The staff is very helpful and kindly.
Room, breakfast, hotel interior, location are good. Hotel bar didn't work at midnight. Hotel staff failed to provide adapter for electricity plugs, so I had no ability to charge my laptop.
the only that no wifi was on place they told that no cards and we have to go to vodafone to buy moble connection sorry in a hotel normaly is free in malta you find free wifi even in a restaurant am not saying in hotel room but in reseption thank this was not the first time that we was in hotel
Very friendly staff, nice rooms, close to the center (5 minutes walk).
The hotel was very pleasant inside, rooms well appointed. Outside not special but then no buildings are in catania! Didnt eat at the restaurant as was expensive and choice quite limited. Breakfast adequate
The room was really beautiful and the buffet breakfast was great - lots of selection and the freshly made coffee really added something. Loved having it out on the terrace too! The bathrooms were also a really nice size and had a great shower. The people at the front desk definitely could have been a little friendlier at some points, and the most friendly one gave us all wrong information for the bus times.
Good location; palatial rooms - great bar with fantastic views Too many electronic hotels on shower, lights, curtains etc that were very confusing and difficicult to use
Hotel royal is placed in the prettiest part of Catania. A walk away from piazza duomo and piazza universita and Etna st which has amazing shops. It's the best location in the best price and value for your money. The hotel has a beautiful design, each room is special, very helpful staff and awesome breakfast. We had such a great time and we felt like kings staying there :-)
staff breakfast was very poor and the hotel is rather dark inside.
The room was elegant, well designed and extreamly comfortable. The price was dirt cheap for the quality of the hotel (89 euros). The Hotel Royal is on the same level as a 5 star Grand Hotel.
The location the hotel is close to city centre anb walking diatance to many historical monuments, shops and restaurants.
High quality accomodation More pillows required.
great room, modern facilities in a baroque style design, interesting design of the lobby, great terrace, friendly staff who knows English. a bit noisy due to the passing car, but totally worth the effort.
Central location (easy walking distance to historic centre, quiet at night), helpful staff, attractive building
Staff were very freindly and willing to help i.e. they provided me with a map of the town so I could squeeze in some shopping after allday meetings! :o) The decor in the hallway is a bit dark, I guess this could be romantic if travelling in a couple but as a lone Business traveller I always made a dash to my room!
Terrace bar was very nice and service there was good.
Charmingly decorated, room spacious, staff friendly and helpful, location excellent.
Very friendly staff. Room excellent. Breakfast not too impressive - but italians don't do breakfast like brits.. Location fine for catania sightseeing etc. No. It was good and we would stay again. Really liked the place.
Central location, friendly staff, great room.
The staff was very skilled and able to improvise regarding parking and more. breakfirst fine too.
Beautifully situated in the centre of Cantania with very high standard of rooms
Excellent location, Luigi on the reception desk was exceptionally helpful and even arranged to send on the clothes I'd left to our next hotel in Taormina! We were offered a choice of room and selected a small but well equipped and comfortable room with delightful french windows and balcony. We were on the side of the hotel and this turned out to be quiet. I'd advise you to avoid the front of the hotel at the weekend unless you are going to be out yourself partying late (it's a bit of a gathering place late on in the evening). The breakfast service was not replenished - we went there half an hour before it closed and it was pretty sparse to say the least, but the coffee and croissants were excellent. It's probably best to get their early. Our bathroom was a little on the snug side which may be a problem for some, but then we did have a choice of larger rooms had we wanted them.
Good central location with highly efficient and professional staff. A few problems re noise from nearby bars on the Saturday night!
Very friendly staff, helpful and competent. Breakfast rich and good. Position of hotel is good and room was quiet. I am looking forward to spend my time once more in this hotel.
Professional, discreet and what any experienced traveller requires, Bravo! Personal, hotel tour guide, facilitator for ones movements around Catania: local consultant...social, cultural and business.
Male front staff service was welcoming and more...
Staff vrey helpfull, very nice, would stay again. no complaints
Stuff is really really friendly! It is my second time in this hotel.. And I am very content! The end of breakfast should be at 11..
The rooms are very nice, I stayed there twice, and once they gave me a suite for the price of a standard double room, which is nice as well. The staff at the breakfast were extremely nice and the lady at the reception made a tremendous effort to make our stay more comfortable having a little child. The location is not so bad, as it is walking distance from the center, but the street itself doesn't look very nice. You park your car in the street and at the reception they did not explain very well that you could buy your parking tickets there. Consequently, we had a fine.
very beautiful and comfortable in details
The nice ambience, the cleanliness, the quieteness altough it's a hotel in the hart of a very busy city. And the - according to Italian standards - nice breakfast.
The personel was very kind, very helpful. The breakfast is fine, our room (Junior Suite) was very beautifully decorated and comfortable, with a terrace. Very calm area.
The Liberty hotel has it all: great location close to the center of Catania, extremely helpful staff, and charming decor.
Beautifully decorated in Italian furnishings and tapestries. Inability to control room temperature. Hotel policy is not to run the air conditioner in October, despite the fact that outside temperatures were in the high 70's/low 80's during our stay. Since the A/C was not running, there was little air circulation in the room. Opening the exterior windows overnight was not an option since outside road noises and barking dogs were not conducive for sleep.
The staff was very helpful and the hotel and room were both very comfortable. The breakfast was also very good. Catania is not the most scenic city in the world and the outside view provided on the hotel's website gave a much more flattering impression of the hotel's immediate surroundings than actually is the case.
Lage, Service, Ausstattung
The location of the hotel in the town center allowed us not to use the car, avoiding the traffic jams of Catania
On-site, secure parking, location, greeting and advise for touring from staff, friendliness of staff, larger room and bathroom. Nice touch having chocolates on the counter in the lobby.
I was given a room in an adjacent building and ended up being locked in the building. I was charged for a large room which I had not requested which almost doubled the rate. As a solo traveler, I didn't feel safe in the building and didn't sleep. The decor needs upgrades, it's not at all cozy or warm.
I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, very happy, the room is very large and very clean, the breakfast is very rich.
One of the best hotels we ever stayed, very helpful, kind, professional, smiling staff.Good hotel, good location, excellent price, excellent service, good breakfast, room and bathroom comfortable and clean.
very clean rooms, free bottled water in room replenished daily, nice helpful staff, good breakfast, big spacious rooms, as good as a four star no
good internet access water leakage from the shower room to the direction of the toilet
Very friendly and personal welcome. The rooms are very spacious with large bathroom, especially for a hotel in the city center this is rare, as goes for the private car park. Very nice brioches at the Italian breakfast....so really excellent place for visiting Catania and to be recommended!
The friendliness of the owner and the personnel. The room was very spacious and quiet.
Extremely friendly people, very good location, good parking, totally worth the money. I recommend it 100% If your room opens to the Via Etnea you cannot let your windows opened because of the street noise.
Our massive bedroom and terrific breakfast! The secure parking was a great bonus.
The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean. I would whole-heartedly recommend the Hotel Etnea 316 to anyone thinking of visiting Carania. Also, take the guided tour that Marco does, it was terrific. The shower is small. Like barely large enough to be usable small. However, this is Europe, and it's to be expected.
