really central location, friendly staff, good breakfast, big room bathroom was cold,
location is great, very friendly staff providing great information on the city. nice sized room as well which was clean could provide a hairdryer for the ladies in the winter months.
Staff were great, breakfast was delicious, room was modern yet still quaint. The great location comes with one drawback. There were lots of drunks on the streets both nights we were there (Saturday and Sunday in November).
Level of service, excellent location Poor condition of room - very uneven flooring, ancient uncomfortable couch, radiator heat failed in the middle of a very cold night.
Very friendly and helpful owners. Beautiful rooms at an amazing location. A fresh pressed orange juice gave us a good start of the day. Also the restaurant is very classy, nice food and great atmosphere!
very attentive to all needs, breakfast was coffee, orange juice, yogurts, fresh buns/breads/pasteries, various cheezes and meats. Excellent rooms, spacious with updated bright clean white bathrooms. coffee earlier in the morning for us coffee addicts; otherwise very well run and kept up premises.
Great location, great price, wonderful staff No elevator
Beautiful building, large room. Owner and his family are very friendly. This hotel felt more like a B & B than a hotel. Very quiet area of Bruges, just 5 minute walk from Market Square.
Fantastic little hotel, beautifully furnished rooms, exceptionally nice owner/staff, everything about it was excellent.
Wifi wasn't working an for the price having the shower and bathroom outside of the room should have been fully disclosed. No wifi. Bathroom and bathtub outside of the room wasn't disclosed so came as a surprised especially for the price paid.
The room, bathroom and breakfast were all excellent It would have been good if the TV worked or if there was a larger selection of DVDs but this was a very minor issue for us
Pieter is a great host and very helpful. The breakfast is wonderful, lots of choice, ham, cheese, croissants, pain au chocolate, rolls, bread, jams, orange juice, tea and coffee. Some days boiled egg or bacon and egg or ham omelette. Very quiet position. Only 5-10 mins walk to main attractions.
Friendliness and helpfulness of owner Pieter. Room very comfortable. Would have preferred choice of cooked breakfast. Lot of building work going on next door - were woken up early by noise from this on two mornings out of three.
very helpful. decoration was lovely breakfast was good
We enjoyed our stay and would highly recomend it. The location is excellent, on a quiet street just a few minutes walk from the Markt. The room was spacious and tastefully decorated and Pieter the owner, was an excellent host. Breakfast was great with a range of cereals, fruit, pastries, compotes, breads, cheese's, cooked meats and eggs. If your heading for brugge you have to stay here!
Excellent breakfast, high quality accomodation in a boutique hotel style... very romantic, did not feel the need to leave the room and very kind host. None
This hotel is lovely. John, who greeted us, seemed to genuinely care about both the hotel and his guests. We didn't feel like paying guests, we felt like we were visiting friends. The location is perfect, no more than 200m from parking and a short and enjoyable walk from the centre of the city. We stayed in the Coucke suite which was expensive, but worth it. The hotel and room were so clean, it was like we were the first people to stay there. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Note that they like to be paid cash on departure - this is made clear at the time of booking, but some reviewers seem not to have read the booking notes and were caught out by this. I cannot find any fault with this hotel.
Value for money and the many interesting features of the building.
We were given a warm welcome by one of the owners as well as useful guidance for our stay in Bruges. He also arranged for us to dine nearby(in an excellent restaurant off the tourist trail) as we had arrived after normal dinner time in Bruges. The house is obviously a labour of love and is comfortable in the extreme. Breakfast is a relaxing affair of the highest quality. We were given early breakfast on the morning of departure, advice on the train connection to Brussels and a taxi was called for us. All in all, a very pleasant and comfortable experience. I have nothing negative to say about Huis 'T Schaep.
The size of the rooms were really good. As well the quietness in the hotel is very good even it is situated in the middle of the town. The breakfast was being served by the owner and it was very good. The first and very important thing I didn't like was that the owner forgot that I had paid for the room at the time of arrival. Before we handed back the keys he asked me to pay again. Even I insisted and said that I had already paid for the room he kept saying he would accept credit card payment, too. He didn't even listen to what I was saying and also, he didn't even look at me. Then, he saw his handwriting on the reservation form and said sorry. For me, the excuse came too late. It shouldn't happen at all. He should have checked his handwriting before he insisted on the second payment.
If we had to sum up our stay in one word, it would be - wow!!! Attention to detail; attentiveness of staff; excellent room facilities and decor; history attached to the building and to Bruges; outstanding breakfast - we just cannot find fault with anything. The restoration work done so far is just impeccable, a lot of love and pride has gone into it, which will be carried on in the works yet to be done.....but don't think that unfinished work might spoil your stay, because it wasn't until we were shown around the house that we realised there was still work to be done. Don't take notice of negative feed back or even give such feed back on the style and decor of the house, because it coouldn't be any other way. Nothing at all.
Friendly host; very nice design; great breakfast No
It was perfect. The hosts were friendly and made us feel at home. It's the best hotel we have stayed at. Perfect location. Stunning room , beautiful hotel. We will be booking again in the New Year. Highly recommend.Just make sure you park in correct place. Our car was towed by police but even with that blip it was perfection.
Incredible location, very big and rooms, went there with my 3 kids, but specially a very personalized service and great tips from the hosts.
This is a very special place. My friend and I requested a tour from John, one of the owners, before we left. Each room is luxurious and distinctive, the bathrooms large and well designed, with great showers. The breakfast was much more than the croissants and coffee we were expecting. We had fresh fruit, yogurt with fruit, our choice of eggs and breads. This is a great place to stay for anyone desiring comfort, calm, good food, and great location in Bruges. I absolutely recommend it.
From the first step through the door, to the sad departure, this stay was truly an exceptional experience. John and Rob were excellent hosts and very helpful throughout our stay. The cleanliness as well as design and decoration of the rooms were impeccible. The house is beatuifully and lovingly restored, decorated and historically significant. The Rubens Suite where we stayed was beautiful, charming, extremely large and comfortable. Bathroom and shower were new, modern, and spotless. John provided a tour and history of the residence, and it is furnished with period antiques as well as stained glass and hand painted tiles from the original owners. This was an exceptional experience and I would highly recommend to all Brugge visitors. There is nothing that I did not like about this hotel and I spent 8 hours researching where to stay in Brugge, so save yourself time, look at this location first!
Room is splendid. Restaurant very good. Last day they forgot our breakfast.
Location, room confort, view from the room, hotel staff, restaurant.
just about everything noise all thru the night and weak AC
the room was fatastic in a great location the service and the food was excellent
Overlooked Market Square and Hotel Bistro was great
everything would have liked tea/coffee facilities and mini-bar
luxurious room, great value and a fantastic location.Could not ask for more. Nothing
Location, ambience, and a spacious, magnificent, comfortable and quiet suite. The facilities are excellent. As this is a guest house combined with a restaurant, the services usually associated with a front/reception desk don't necessarily apply in the same way as those available at hotels. I found it rather off putting that full payment for my visit was demanded immediately on my arrival (tired, and travel weary) before I could enter the guest house (via the restaurant). Also the tone of some of the notices in the room, along with the warning of highly inflated replacement prices, re loss of key or removal of linen, is somewhat 'over the top'.
We had the appartment. We really felt right at home and comfy. The location is superb.
The grand suite is more like an apartment than a room - it is enormous and beautifully decorated! There is even a full lounge area and kitchen (although does not appear intended for use, but does have a fridge). The bathroom has a huge bathtub with rain shower overhead. It is located in the centre of Bruges right on the market square above the restaurant of the same name. Due to location is can be a bit noisy at night and in the morning although not too bad given Bruges is not really a party town. Breakfast at the restaurant below was lovely too. Highly recommended! Room was a little bit noisy sometimes. Getting to the separate doorway for the guesthouse can be a bit challenging late at night after the restaurant closes - you can get in but you have to duck around the chairs and tables.
Really spacious and relaxing, you can tell the owner has a good eye for decor. Breakfast brought to you when you want it - none of "you must be in the hotel restaurant before 8:30am"......Owner really friendly and helpful, gave good advise on places to eat see and do...Excellent stay Would highly recomend to anyone plus to those who don't know the area the location is really central to the city centre.
We booked all 4 rooms at the Calis for a weekend visit to Brugge with 4 couples. The Calis exceeded all our expectations: beautiful and very special rooms, nice breakfast served - at our request - in the restaurant, and above all the genuine hospitality "with a smile" from Laurence and Daniel. Our vote: if you want a special place to stay in Brugge: choose the Calis.
The room was lovely. The owners were very nice. Location was great. The wireless network was free, but it was very weak so I couldn't really use it.
Very friendly family run B&B, highly recommend to everyone. Rooms fantastically decorated and large too. Breakfast very good.
Very friendly, helpful and accomodating hosts; attention to detail; very pleasant room; good food; very good location
Everything was fabulous! The rooms are decorated beautifully, the owners were wonderful and did everything they could to make our stay perfect. Dinner at their restaurant is a must - one of the best and most enjoyable meals we have had. We would definitely go back.
The room was beautiful as was the whole building, The breakfast was exceptional. Very warm & welcoming owners and the meal in the restuarant was the best we've ever had. The bathroom, especially the toilet, being part of the bedroom but everything else was so amazingly good that it can be overlooked.
The room was excellent, the hosts friendly and the location perfect.
Fantastic warm welcome and beautiful room. Great central location - two minute walk to main square and shops/bars/restaurants. Also excellent breakfast both mornings. Open style bathroom was fine for us but may not be for everyone!
Excellent owner, very comfortable bed, breakfast served to the room was great. The location to the city is excellent. Eat in the restaurant! Construction going on around the building during the week. It starts very early (7a.m.) and is right beneath the window to the room, but otherwise it was a great experience.
Livia is a charming lady who looks after her guests very well and provides a wonderful breakfast. We were situated right in the heart of Brugge with a lovely room which looked out over the belfries and towers of Brugge.
Livia makes you feel so welcome, especially waking to freshly baked bread, home made jams and personal attention that you wont find at any other B&B. One of the best B&B's Ive ever stayed in and the location is spot on! Dont expect anything modern, its a totally different atmosphere, but excellent!
warm welcoming atmosphere; in the city center; quiet place
It was absolutley amazing. Livia herself was a pleasure. The hotel was immaculate it was fantastic. Brilliant. Would stay there again and again and again.
Livia takes a pride in presentation and warmth of welcome, so that the experience is far from the anonymity of most hotels; the location is excellent.
Livia! Very sweet and knowledgable about Bruges. Very nice place to stay.
The location of the hotel is perfect. A short walk from every important place in Brugge. Livia is very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast, both food and atmosphere, was phenomenal.
Very convenient location, great home made breakfast, excellent advice on restaurants, sites etc.
The service, room, breakfast were absolutely superb! We've enjoyed our stay very much. Livia is full of passion about her b&b and gave good tips about good restaurants. At the breakfast: homemade Jam, homemade applejuice, bread, fresh eggs and a smile.... What more do you want?
Very nice and very friendly B&B in the center of town. The saty was delightful. You have to use stairs and there is one room on each of the 2nd, 3rd an 4th floor.
fantastic owners and beautiful, stylish place; central location
We had an amazing time at 1669bnb. The building is beautiful from the outside as well as from the interior. Elegant furniture, great ambience, owners and stuff extremely friendly and kind. The bnb is situated right in the center of the city next to all markets and sights, nevertheless, we felt like it was a country site. Nice view of the neighbouring town cathedral. High quality bio-product based breakfast. Overall experience: Enthusiastic, Thank u O & C
We had a wonderful stay at the 1669 b&b, it was such a beautiful building. Everyone there were so friendly and helpful and the little gesture of wine and chocolate in our luxurious room when we arrived was lovely, couldn't have wished for anything more. Great location too and only a 10 minute from he train station! Nothing!
Everything was absolutely fabulouts! Having stayed at 200+ hotels, this ranks in Top5!!!
The husband and wife team was very friendly. They made sure that we were treated properly. For example, on our day of leaving, the busband persoanlly drove us to the train station to make sure that we got on the train on time. We were leaving on a very early morning and a taxi might not be feasible. During our two days' stay, the weather was quite hot. It would be great if the place had air-con.
The accomodaition wasof a very high standard and the owners were more than helpful. Their breakfast in the morning was the best we have had from a B&B or hotel for a long time.
Everything. Wonderful room, wondersful host, wonderful location NO
Location is perfect! Rooms are beautiful! (We had "Roof with a view" which was everything it promised to be and more!) And you could have lovely music in the room aswell. A real 4-star hotel quality, with a B&B personal feel. A real romantic treat! No closet or other possibility to hang clothes / coat etc.
A very tastefully renovated building in the heart of Bruges, but still retaining an air of tranquility. The breakfast was lovely and good quality. The staff were very friendly and polite, but overall the charm of this venue is the building itselft, which is typical of the local style. Our room was more than large enough and quite romantic. Only that the roome was not attended to during the stay, but this is a minor point really considering the overall experience.
The 1669 was fantastic. The Salvator suite was lovely everything we hoped for and more. It was clean, friendly and in a great location. Breakfast was good for a continental. The owners were really friendly as was the lady who served breakfast. A very charming B&B with attention to detail. The cosy fire and big bed made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. Would definitly recommend it. All of it was great
Very comfortable, excellent location, affordable and super hosts.
Friendly staff, peacefull location, very spacious rooms, location is good because everything you need is very close! Very tasty breakfast, good variation! Plenty of stuff to do in the place itself, biljart, dvd's, music and lots of books! floors where a small bit noisy
Beautiful central location. Attentive welcoming host who took the time to explain how we could make the most of our trip. Fantastic breakfast served daily. A very special building finished to a very high standard.
Very atmospheric; wonderful breakfasts; great location The revolting 'artwork' - which was everywhere!
I can not recommend this guest house more, David makes you feel completely at home in his beautiful house. The flavours and attention to detail he went to for breakfast was extraordinary. We definitley plan to return during summer and would only consider staying here again It would have been nice to have a coffee/tea maker in the room however it would have spolit the design and finish of the room
We stayed in the Medieval room which was superb, the view stunning and David was the perfecr host, we cannot rate Nuit Blanche enough, and have come away with wonderful memories of a perfect stay.
The whole experience was fabulous...food, comfort and attention of our host David. Best b & b ever - also ranks with the best hotels. Nothing negative to report.
everything!!! The place is just amazing, the owner is incredible, the room is fantastic and the location is simply in the best place of the city. I will definitely come back. If you go to Brugges you have to stay there, I was never so well treated in "hotel" in my life. Thanks David. PS:he is a great cooker and brings a lot of "gastronomic gifts" to the gests. Nothing.
The stay at Nuit Blanche is an ultimate experience of the essence and atmosphere of Bruges. With a personalized and unforgettable service given by the host and the great artist David de Greaf topped with a gourmet breakfast we felt very special and appreciated and almost as we belong to the old Household. Our host and his lovely daughter Flour took extraordinary care of us and made our stay unique and unlike experience elsewhere. The house is unique and full of positive good energy. Has to be experienced in a life time.
Unique and unusual accomodation. Fabulous personal service with a rare opportunity to stay in an historical building. Delicious gourmet breakfast with fantastic views.
The most fantastic accomodation we ever had. Unbelievable mix of all the components: mideval house, gastronomic breakfast, romantic room, full-screen movie selection etc. And lots of hospitality and genuine care from David! Too good to be true:)
The uniqueness of the historical context of the 'hotel', a true time machine with a window on the 15th century, still with underlying 4 stars hotel luxury backed up with a fantastic host ..... Amazing Nothing.
